It’s a dime in a dozen to find a unique shop like this in New York. It truly is wonderful that there are beautiful shops like this one dedicated to crafts like knitting and sewing. I was in complete awe when I entered this shop. Everything was so beautiful! I loved all the rainbow of colors of the fabrics and yarn. I loved there was wall to wall of yarn in so many vibrant colors. I spent a lot of time looking at the fabrics and their beautiful colors and patterns. I was imagining all the projects I can for my home using all those fabrics. I loved that the shop had cute items for home decor. The shop even had all the tools needed for sewing and knitting. From scissors to thread to measuring tape. I also spent a lot of time looking at the sewing books and project books the shop carries. The shop offers all kinds of sewing and knitting classes. The best thing about this shop is that everything is excellent quality. Everyone should visit this shop.

This yarn store was absolutely delightful! The selection in the store is really great and I love the esthetic.They knew we were only in town for one night after Rhinebeck and stayed open late to let us shop. Kristin was working and she was so gracious and helpful. Her shift was over, but she was so patient and sweet.I’ll be back for sure.

Super cool space with great vibes. A little pricy, but worth the money. Employees were polite and courteous and dealt very well with a rude customer.

Hands down the best yarn store in NYC. The yarn selection is fantastic with a lot of harder to find options. Their notions and button selection are excellent as well. The fabric options are varied and all beautiful. I have a hard time shopping elsewhere!

A lovely yarn/fabric store with very helpful staff. Lots of beautiful yarn however almost all the Yarn is primarily wool. If you want wool and primarily wool-based yarn this is a great store.But if you want anything with bamboo, for example, there is no yarn. Also very little straight cotton and silk. I was visiting from out of state where a warmer climate prevails. I was hoping for a good variety of other-than-wool yarn so I was disappointed. Had I read a review such as this I would not have gone out of my way to visit the store.

Excellent store! I thought it was just a yarn store, but they have fabrics, notions, books, buttons, and all sorts of cool crafty things. A full wall of Jameson's colors, which is very nice. (Only wish it wasn't 90 degrees out when I visited, or else I would have been more inspired to get some wool. Definitely a great place to shop if you are a fiber fanatic.

Such a lovely shop with lots of crafty things. They have a fairly large yarn collection, but because they are a craft store and not just a knitting/crochet store, they also have other cool things, including fabric and sewing patterns. It definitely made me want to learn how to sow. They have books as well. Will definitely return to purchase some yarn!

Lovely and quaint little yarn/craft store! As far as I could tell, all of the yarns were from natural materials (cashmere, mohair, wool), and the prices reflected such. I did see a sale section and got two wool yarns, each for ~$9/skein which wasn’t too expensive! The store is mainly catered for people who knit or sew I would say, but it’s a whimsical find if you are ever in the area or want some good yarn! They also have ribbons, buttons, fabrics, zippers, and other sewing trimmings! They also showcase creative designs such as clothing/hats which serve as great inspo!

I found this shop two weeks ago. I just needed elastic and safety pins to complete some mending projects. I googled "sewing notions" and Brooklyn General popped up. It's an adorable shop with all kinds of yarns and other items. The shopkeeper (owner?) was extremely helpful and friendly. The items she recommended were perfect and I finally finished my projects. It's such a warm and inviting shop that it made me wish I could knit!
