Hidden gem located in the middle of downtown Buffalo. Was there for the Bills game. The bus stop to Orchard Park was at walking distance.Rooms/Dorms were clean and well maintained. Vibes were very chill and relaxing.

A great old hostel with lots of charm in a great location. A very fun vibe throughout, even in the off season. The lounge and kitchen on the second floor are great additions and the basement lounge is very funky.Bikes are available for rent and a great way to see the city!Rooms: Large dorm rooms that were mostly empty in the off season.Safety: Key code lock on the front door, plus key card locks on the main stairs case and all the rooms.Walkability: Very walkable-- close to main downtown bus lines too!Food & drinks: Lots of restaurants and bars nearby, but not a lot of groceries aside from little corner markets.

Myself and my bud stayed in the female dorm. We came through by train to check out the potential for moving to Buffalo City from Northern California. We were not dispointed and the Hosegl certainly helped with that. The beds and pillows were clean, fine enough for sleeping. The blankets were light, but the heating for the room was good so light covers were just right even though it was 35f degrees outside at night. The heater was loud when it kicked on, and would occasionally shake us awake but that territory comes with old lovely buildings like this one.Shared bathroom was clean and shared a room with the showers. Showers had two layers of privacy curtains and asked that you clean the shower after use-love the communal effort to stay clean.Kitchen was clean and had all the utensils you needed to cook small or big meals. The service was above and beyond, certainly made us feel at home.there is not usually a one in the lobby but there's a button for help that never failed. We had a hard time finding local bike rentals and they sorted out a couple of hostel bikes for us free of charge. The bikes were sturdy and we rode them across town for 5 hours. Left 40 dollar donation so they could keep providing this awesome bike exerience. We love to travel on the cheaper side, so if you want a Ritz this isn't the place. But if you want a warm, clean, communal space, Buffalo Hostel has got you covered. You could see peoples loving effort in every aspect. It's a sturdy old building in a lovely city and our experience at Hostel Buffalo added to our opinion that Buffalo City would be a nice place to work and call home.

Pretty comfortable beds, clean bathrooms, decent kitchen with good fridge space. Great resources in the first floor. Good number of outlets, though they charge slowly. Cool location near theaters, public transit, and decent parking.

Comfortable, quiet, and perfect. This hostel located about 30 mins from the falls offers a quaint comfortable hostel setting at a very good price. I can definitely see myself staying here aging in the future.

I have been to the Buffalo Hostel twice and look forward to my return. The Hostel is brilliantly convenient in the downtown core plus it combines many cool features; 100% clean but more it has an arty/funky atmosphere that is both welcoming and a celebration of this fine city. The staff are friendly and ambassadors that are proud of their city. It is a joy to hang with them in the eating area or lobby because they are a bundle of information. No matter your age or income level this Hostel offers both value and comfort that is priceless. Finally, I value that the Buffalo Hostel promotes community; travelers, diverse culture, all celebrated with respect, appreciation and value. Buffalo Hostel is a gem!!

Nice people, sparse hours of attended front desk, easy free tram ride from Amtrak downtown Station. Fresh coffee pot made by staff in morning, usual oatmeal and eclectic collection of spices and cookware.

When I moved out to Buffalo, New York to hunt for jobs and an apartment, the Hostel Buffalo Niagara was one of the only affordable options, and I couldn't be happier with my experience. Not only is the location fantastic (right in the center of downtown Buffalo), but the people were friendly and understanding. There was space to work quietly if you need it as well as ample possibility to get to know people. My transition into living in Buffalo wouldn't have been possible without the Hostel and the people who work here. Thanks again!

Located in Downtown Buffalo, this hostel has a unique vibe. The people running and managing this place are great. The beds are clean and comfy. Maybe the only thing which is a bit off is the one bathroom per floor, which can be a bit of a challenge during peak hours. Hostel is connected well via bus routes to the airport and Niagara falls. Will definitely stay here if I’m in and around Buffalo and will recommend this place.Food & drinks: Located in Downtown, you have plenty of options nearby.

I booked 9 nights with them and cancelled three days in advance and I still was completely unaware of their 14 day in advance cancellation policy. I was ignorant to their rules and procedures and they were still kind enough to issue a partial refund. Really nice people I am very grateful for the empathy they showed me ty very much.

This place is so cool!!! There is gorgeous, whimsical art seriously everywhere. The space is beautiful and feels like home. Fellow guests were friendly yet respectful of each other's space and boundaries. My son commented that he wished we could live here.

I had the pleasure of staying for two weeks. I very much enjoyed my stay. It's a charming eclectic boutique hostel, and the staff are hard working. They do an excellent job of maintaining it and creating a welcoming environment. A bonus is that it's in the heart of downtown Buffalo, within walking distance to theatres, restaurants, cafes, etc and it's not far from Niagara Falls. I rode the bus for $4 dollar round trip to the falls. Well worth it!

Everyone that includes those staying and the staff look out for one another. Don't go if you expect to be waited upon. The kitchen is available at all times and the laundry seems is constantly running. The rooms are clean and well secured. This Hostel is a true gem in a gem encrusted city. Regards to all who love to travel and to the staff of Hostel Buffalo-Niagara.

Pretty good value for the money. One issue is that there is only toilet and shower stall on one floor, so at full capacity, about 30 people are fighting for one stall. Also, if someone is using the shower, it becomes inconvenient/invasive to use the toilet. The beds are also a bit uncomfortable. I don’t expect $1000 mattresses, but the upper bunk is so low, you can’t sit up when you’re on the lower bunk. There parking instructions, but still receive the parking ticket. As a local business, they should make sure to give the correct information depending on what time of the year the guests are staying, as local laws change.*edited to add, JP was a fantastic host and even came to find me to personally apologize. I have changed my rating to reflect the great customer care received.
