“Kind. Respectful. Friendly. Employs people in the neighborhood. I drive past 2 stores to get to this one for those reasons and I live literally 5 houses from 7eleven. Oh and they gave me a boost when my battery died last winter in front of the store...”

“Wegmans lost me as a customer when it decided to cow-tow to the anti-vax crowd and let them run around their Amherst Street store so they could infect people. This Tops is only a couple blocks away. The Wegmans store is often rated as the best grocery store in the USA, which means this Tops has some very tough competition. Let's see how these two stores compare. Accessibility: Both stores are on #32 bus route. Tops is also on #3 Grant bus line, the city's busiest route. Both have adequate parking. Both are on Amherst Street but tops is also on Grant Street. Neither store is close to a sidewalk. Winner: Tops Strange things I don't expect at super markets: Wegmans has a liquor store. Tops has a gas station. I don't drink. Wegmans doesn't offer discounts at the liquor store for shopping in the grocery store. Tops does offer discounts on gas, which is something do buy, for shopping in their store. Winner: Tops Bottle return: Both stores have them. Tie Featured items: Both stores have featured items as you enter. Tops items are usually sale items. At Wegmans the items are generally not on sale. Winner: Tops Produce: Both stores have large produce departments. Wegmans lets you see packaged items being assembled in-store. The variety is excellent in both stores. Winner: Wegmans by a slim margin Bakery (aka kill you with carb kindness): Both stores have in-store bakeries, custom cakes, and loads of goodies. Tie Dry goods: Both stores carry popular brands. Wegmans has more store-brand items. Tops has more name-brand items, but they also put these on sale frequently. Tie Meats: A friend of mine won't buy meats at Wegmans and swears the meats at Tops are far better. Me? I buy my meats at Federal meat market. Winner: Tops by reputation Dairy: Both stores carry a huge array of dairy products. Wegman's cheese section is very nice, but I can get the cheeses I want at Tops, too. Same with yogurts. Tie. Frozen Foods: Tops frozen department is easily twice that of Wegmans. Winner: Tops by a big margin Ice Cream: Tops has a much larger selection of flavors from which to choose. They also have Tops brand light ice cream with half the fat. Winner: Tops by a big margin. Pharmacy and drug store department: Both stores have a pharmacy. Tie. Supply chain issues: Tops seems to be getting stocked on certain popular items like Gatorade, paper products, and Juicy Juice where Wegmans has empty shelves. Winner: Tops Appearance: Wegmans is newer, brighter and nicer. Winner: Wegmans Prepared foods: Wegmans has a much larger variety of prepared foods than Tops. Winner: Wegmans Cleanliness: Tops has a slightly grungy feeling about it. Maybe its the lighting. Tops asks customers and employees to wear masks properly. For those who care about sanitation and cleanliness, the mask issue gives Tops a big win. If you don't care about getting COVID, Wegmans is your store. They love you. Anti-vax and anti-maskers should go to Wegmans. Prices: Sticker prices are higher at Tops but they discount almost everything sometime or other if you use your Tops card. Tops has lots of sale items. Wegmans prices are low every day. Overall, it's a wash. Tie. Despite the less glamorous setting, I think Tops is the winner and its getting my business from now on.”

“When I needed to print an important document so my family could cross into Canada and back to the US, the kindest, most wonderful lady helped me! I forgot to write down her name, but we spoke in Spanish, and she was an angel on earth to us, because she saved our family’s vacation. This was in October 2022.As I see the news about the blizzard affecting Buffalo, I think of her, and I hope she is safe and warm and doing well. ¡Mil gracias!”

“I grew up walking distance from this Walgreens and so it feels very much like home to me. A strange thing to say about a Walgreens? Maybe so. But it's comfortable. I know what I'm gonna get when I walk in. I know who I'm gonna see. That super friendly dude at the cash register will welcome me as I walk in "welcome to Walgreens!" I think his name is Chris. He is great. Dare I say, an icon. I give it 5 stars as compared to other Walgreens. Every other Walgreens I visit I end up waiting for things. Waiting for someone to help me at the photo desk (Delaware Ave in Kenmore is a nightmare for that). Waiting for someone to cash me out. Waiting for the infant tylenol to be restocked. But I don't find that as often here. Maybe it's the rose colored glasses I wear, Idk. In my experience, their photo/print shop is good and fast. I've not used their pharmacy so can't speak to that. I'm most often there for greeting cards or over the counter drugs, and it fulfills those purposes. I always leave with a smile after chatting with Chris (I really hope his name is Chris). Cheers for convenience, Walgreens.”

“This Rite Aid is conveniently located NEXT DOOR to my Air B&B! Seriously though, no qualms with a Rite-Aid as they serve most purposes for a small haul of toiletries and snacks on vacations. This particular Rite-Aid felt a bit condensed but had everything I needed: body wash, loofah, toothbrush, toothpaste, and a Mint/Dark Chocolate combo Kit-Kat bar. There's a pharmacy as well for all of you suffering through flu season. Parking lot is pretty big so that should rarely be an issue.”

“This is a great store with really helpful associates. This Rite Aid is closer to me than the local Tops or Wegmans. Rite Aid has many things that you might need. They're like a small grocery store with a pharmacy inside. Most of their foods are pricier than a regular grocery store. Food isn't what most people come in for. They come in for pharmacy items, beer, or a few other small items. I came in for bandaids and I ended up spending $34.90!!! I meandered down one of the first aisles and bought four fall candles. There were three different scents. On the way to the bandaids, I picked up two packs of Reese's pumpkins, M&M's, pickles, a heathy-ish drink, toilet paper, and a few other unnecessary things. The cashier was helpful, kind, and friendly. I'll definitely be back here soon.”

“Ordered the turkey dinner for thanksgiving! Got there at 8:00 am to pick up my meal. It was ready, got it in my cart and picked up a few more things. When I got home and opened the box I pulled out a turkey factory wrapped with red netting and my heart dropped, it was supposed to be cooked. I read the label and it was a fully cooked turkey. Got all the sides in , had to carve the bird. Lots of meat.!!!! The sides were delicious. We had a great meal, everything was great. At a fair price. We will be ordering again. 6 stars out of 5.”

“Wow a review on a drug store ? Yes, I drive over to this Rite Aid for good reason. Main reason I do have medicine I need to pick up and using the rite aid texting system and prepaying for the order and using the drive through to pick up my order. Thank you for this service. But yesterday morning my family went inside the store and got our flu shots. The pharmacist informed us of new info on it and we all got our shots from the pharmacist who was handling too much for one person ( the whole Rx area, drive through, counter phone and doing our flu shots) the pharmacist was very good, one person at a time, temperature was taken, masks worn correctly. And my flu shot didn't hurt. the morning went well. The young pharmacist was wonderful.”

“If you have only been in this location post-reno, you won't be able to fully appreciate it. This location was an incredible hot mess before the reno. The floors were disgusting. Shelves were old, refrigerated coolers had this weird smell to it, and the building itself just seemed depressed. If that makes any sense. The pharmacy has always ended up having an issue with the way a family member's scripts are written. They're prescribed different scripts for the same med due to billing, and they always have to call the Dr, because they don't believe what they're being told by my family. And that's why I'm giving this location 4 stars. I could understand the first, second, even third time. But this happens every time they renew their script. I keep telling the Pharm tech to just put a note in the system, but no one listens to me. (This is the part where I dramatically throw my hands up in the air and say, But what do I know!) The parking lot could also use a major refresher. Also. The one Brinks guy that comes to this location is ca-yu-who-hute. He alone keeps me coming back to this location! Wink. Just in case the Brinks guy stumbles onto this review.”

“For the most part this is a great Walgreens. It's great to have a 24hr store in the heart of Allentown. Even the pharmacy is open 24hrs, so if you happen to go to the emergency room at any time of night, you don't have to wait to grab a prescription. I've had experience with the pharmacy and they are very efficient which is great. I got a new prescription one morning with a new doctor and my meds were ready within 10 minutes. For the store itself they are always clean and well stocked. There's not usually a ton of staff available but they do well on making sure the lines aren't long and taking forever.”
