The Buffalo History Museum offers a fascinating and amazing museum experience, widely considered one of the best. Housed in the beautiful New York State Building from the Pan-American Exposition, the museum itself is an architectural beauty with amazing grounds, including a Japanese garden and cherry trees that provide a sense of peace. It tells the rich and wild history of Buffalo through well-organized and well-curated exhibits. These include impressive art pieces, artifacts, Native American dioramas, sports memorabilia, and exhibits from the 1800s and 1900s, such as an 18th century home in the basement. A particular highlight is the comprehensive scavenger hunt, fun for kids and adults alike, which encourages visitors to explore aspects one sometimes passes over. The museum operates on a suggested entry fee and features a research library. It preserves the special moments and history of the city, with stories ranging from the Pan-American Exposition to a sabotaged steamboat going over Niagara Falls. The facility is also a perfect and beautiful location for private events like weddings, especially for smaller guest counts, where guests can have free reign of the whole museum. Visitors will find clean restrooms and a souvenir shop with a nice, though pricey, collection. Overall, it is a lovely stop, highly recommended for anyone with an hour or more to spend, providing a great experience worth more than five stars.
The History Musium was nice, just the cost of a donation. Then we walked to the restaurant, it was nice and the food was good. We walked to the Art Musium and entrance fee was way too much 😅 especially being a life long NYS tax payer.

Lots of history about things in the city that are gone. Only surving building of the 1901 PanAm Exposition were President McKinley way assassinated while attending. Gun used and handkerchief used to conceal it on display here. Toronto does not have anything like this.

The Buffalo History Museum is a gem. I have been associated with it for many years. Wonderful exhibits and relevant programs highlighting the history of WNY. Took a tour today for Women's History Month: The Life of a Buffalo Showgirl. Learned about women from WNY who made a difference.
