I've been going to this Tops location for over 30 years, on and off. It's not in the best neighborhood, but I always feel safe here as they always have security on site. I like how this grocery store is quickly accessible off of the 190 and close to the Peace Bridge. I find most of the staff here are friendly and helpful. The store is clean and always has lots of stock. The bakery is pretty good and they have some unique items that other Tops stores don't have.

I don't buy prescriptions that often, so I tend to forget to pick them up. The pharmacy always calls me when things are ready.

The produce and goods are all A-OK as you would expect from a Tops. The deals aren't quite as good as Aldi's, it's not expensive as Wegman's, but the goods aren't as fresh either. I come here every now and then as it's close to my house. PriceRite which is only a block away is convenient and the most economical, but oftentimes I find myself waiting in the checkout line for 10+ minutes. The cost of cheaper groceries, ya know. This Tops is just AOK. It's a short drive away, but their coffee selection is total crap. They don't even seem to have whole beans. If you need essentials, it's not a bad place to go, but ultimately I find myself going elsewhere oftentimes.

My friend and I stopped by here to dry off and buy an umbrella last night during what might have been a monsoon. Unfortunately, we only made it about two blocks before the umbrella completely broke. I went back to Tops and they quickly gave me a refund. While they couldn't control the weather, they were willing to stand by their product, demonstrating a level of honesty not often found at stores today.

This Tops Is large and busy. They have a diverse customer base and as a result a diverse selection of foods etc. But no bulk section in this location. Not sure why. The parking here is easy. Checkout usually very fast too. They have a very active bottle return area.

This tops has everything that you could these from a grocery store. It has a gas station lottery and to go items as well as a deli. There's plenty plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables including some exotic or tropical fruits and roots. Since its in the Hispanic neighborhood there are lots of Hispanic items there too so you can make some authentic Puerto Rican dishes with fresh ingredients

This store is overpriced and has a weak selection. Do yourself a favor and go to Aldi's or Wegmans. It's worth the extra time and gas.

They made some minor upgrades to their produce section. Looks a bit cleaner as well. I added a star to it. It's conveniently located to get what you need.

Decent Tops. It has a gas station which is nice, but the gas prices (being in the city) are still a little more pricey than the 'burbs. The place is a little small but it has all the basics. The produce was fresh and seemed well stocked. The workers were nice, but I hate that they do not have a self checkout. Not the worst but not the best.

This isn't the cleanest or largest Tops location but it's the only major grocery store in downtown Buffalo. This is going to sound ridiculous - but this Tops has the best selection of steak. It is the first place I will go if I want to cook a steak at home. The meat prices are a lot lower than at Wegman's and it isn't vacuum sealed. It's convenient for me to go here if I need gas or to pick something up quick. I wouldn't do all of my grocery shopping here though because they don't have a large selection of gluten free food products (a necessity at my house). It's a little dingy inside and I'm not entirely sure but I don't think they have a public restroom. I'm glad this store is here but if I can help it I will make the drive to Wegman's*. *Except for steak

Esto Tops es una gran tienda, si usted habla con fluidez espaí±ol. Aparte de eso, el servicio al cliente es pobre - probablemente porque no hablo espaí±ol.

I like this Tops, aside from the poor service. Whenever I have had a problem, the management has been VERY apologetic, understanding, and a pleasure to deal with. Everyone is allowed to shop here. I always see other white people in the store. I live in this neighborhood. this is my closest grocery store. Just know that is will take a long time to check out, which is true of every Tops in the city limits, except Elmwood. Each Tops is a little different from every other Tops. I love the unique items at this store. It was the first place I ever saw breadfruit in WNY (Price Rite has it sometimes, but they haven't always been around) and where other stores might only carry pastries in cherry or apple, I gave been elated to find guava flavored streudel bits and other such amazing things here. This Tops has all the specials you will see in the weekly flyer and more. Every so often, I see a sale sign that says it is a Niagara Street Location Only special. The baked good are great but if the Italian bread, kaiser rolls, etc. are on sale that week, they are usually sold out by 6pm or so. I like checking their markdown bakery items and I used to check their dairy items, too. Before I was vegan, we used to get their pizza when is was BOGO. I often had trouble with the folks working in that section. They bake the pizza to order, so I would order it, shop, and then come back for it. One time I came back and got this deer in the headlights look because when they saw my face again, they remembered they never put my pizza in. All they have to do is take a prepared raw pizza and put it on the pizza conveyor belt. I got a $10 gift card when I complained about that one.

Is it a pretty store with bouqets of roses outlining the doors and windows? Nope. Super friendly associates smiling and asking if you need help? Nah. Samples of various items on each aisle along with beautiful landscaping outside? No. And are the other customers smiling and saying hello to you?.... You see where I'm going with this? It's a grocery store. Just shop. It's not the prettiest store in the world, but who cares? I found what I needed and got the heck outta there. I wish I could transport these prices back home to Atlanta because they're a tad bit cheaper in the produce department than what we have here. Inside the store wasn't exactly clean, then again, it was very busy and around mid-day, so I'll give 'em that. The lines were moving quickly, which was a good thing because my headache was not playing any games that day. In and out. No complaints at all.

I think the truth is somewhere between the other two reviewers. Yes, I agree some fools see people of color (as the phrase goes, apparently white people are clear or something?) and automatically assume a place is "bad" (idiots), but I don't think that is the sole reason this Tops is looked down on and I don't think that was the initial reviewers intent. Some people are just more...uhh..sheltered than others and think an area having any signs of blight automatically makes it scary and bad. My standards are different, coming from a low-income area, than someone coming into this area from Allentown, Elmwood Village or most of the suburbs. I don't expect things to be pristine so long as the store is clean and this one usually is decent in that department. I also agree this Tops has it's little crusty problems - bad parking lot that is not cleaned, slow service, the area around it is meh but it isn't that horrible (similar to some parts of my 'hood Black Rock, though a hair worse than my street). However, just because an area isn't landscaped and sparkling doesn't mean anyone will bother you. There is a vibe around Allentown that you can't shop at this Tops unless you are Latino/a or "gangsta" looking and that is REALLY silly. I am caucasian (as pasty as they come actually), 5'2" and usually have crazy clothes/dyed hair (not thug in the slightest) and no one has ever bothered me here, given me an attitude, messed with my car, etc. My biggest complaint with this Tops is that they don't keep up their property and they don't hire enough cashiers - Tops on Elmwood is 10x better cleaned, maintained, and (at least seems like it) has more people on staff. Their selection is decent and they do provide a wider selection of foods typical to Latin cuisines than other places in the area, which is sweet. My Boricua friend from Amherst used to drive here to buy things he couldn't find near him. They do seem to mark up produce as this is something of a "food desert" in this area, which is not cool, but at the same time I give them props for staying open in an area a lot of other businesses wouldn't have the sack to open in. The gas station area is particularly poorly planned and maintained (p.s. they want to throw one of these up at the Tops in Black Rock, after this example so clearly shows they won't take care of it or improve the store just because it goes in). If you want basic groceries at average prices and you live in Allentown, lower Elmwood Village, West Side or parts of downtown this is a perfectly fine place to shop. If you want huge selection coupled with amazing prices, perfect surroundings, better maintained lot, etc, waste the gas to go elsewhere.
