“I love coming here to buy postcards and generally browse. The last few times I was there they did not have a working bathroom.Spending hours combing through dusty ephemera (which I love to do) and then not being able to wash my hands is a real disappointment. That being said, I love this place.”
“An actual flea market. They have a bit of everything, somè things are pristine somethings have a little fle bite. Wishing I had more time to rummage thru everything.”
“Big on inventory of genuine functional and decorative antique and vintage items. Antique kitchenware you can trust, which is not that common really. Very clean, compact and friendly space. Take your time here...there's treasures you need, close at hand.”
“Brian did a fantastic job on my kitchen table top, refinishing to like new condition and a higher quality than the manufacturer's. Color is spot on. He was prompt, professional and very agreeable to work with.”
“Great customer service, very friendly, honest, and helpful. One item I brought in he was not interested in since he had so many similar items already, but he gave me some excellent information about the item which was greatly appreciated because I was having a hard time finding info”

“I love shopping at the Trojan horse. William Allen is so knowledgeable and the Antique furniture, lighting fixtures and home decor are so unique and unusual. Always a pleasurable experience”
“Very clean place with a very large selection of items. My wife and I did not buy anything however we did sell them a few items that we brought from home. Very polite and pleasant couple who were running the store.”
“This place is a gem, and the employees are just lovely! So glad to have ventured into their shop.
My late mother hand carried four small cuckoo clocks (one for each daughter) from Germany in the '90s. I had mine packed away and the batteries corroded. I brought my clock into the shop, expecting they would say it was unfixable, but they just happened to have the exact part that was needed for replacement/repair. As my father passed away this month, it means a lot to us to have this gift from my parents up and running. Thank you!”
“Dennis was extremely helpful and very knowledgeable, I would strongly recommend visiting his shop in Cohoes! He has an amazing collection of awesome antiques and collectibles!”
“We bought a beautiful dresser. The owner was extremely kind and accommodating with my purchase especially with the transportation. They offered to touch up the furniture after I accidentally scratched it trying to move it. I recommend them very highly they have some beautiful and unique items. Just wanted to show my appreciation. Thanks.”
“Some extremely unique things in here, and though some of the space is a little congested and tough to walk through (as is often the case with places like this) you could spend a hell of a lot of time here.I didn’t really inquire too much on prices and I don’t know what the haggling situation is, but still more than worth coming in here to check out.”
“I’m incredibly thankful that Al has his shop open. He is doing a tremendous job getting the place organized. His prices are fair and he will work with you. And he appreciates the children that are in the hobby. If you find yourself on Union Street on a weekday afternoon, I hope you give Al a little business.”
“Several years ago, we inherited an art collection. The collection included over five hundred pieces of artwork from both Eastern European and American artists. (Including but not limited to oils, drawings, lithographs, engravings, and original inks.) Since the collection was not catalogued, we had no idea how to organize it, who some of the artists were and the overall value. We met with Mark Lawson, and he agreed to take on the task of researching the artist for each piece, organizing the collection, and eventually auctioning it for us. He was able to identify each piece and arrange an auction in less than 6 months. We were impressed by the professionalism and attention to detail that he and his staff exhibited. We were also pleased with the first auction in which a majority of the artwork was sold. Subsequently he arranged a second auction in which additional pieces were sold. Finally, with our approval donated the remainder of the artwork to a local charity. We would gladly recommend Mark Lawsons Antiques to anyone seeking appraisals or someone to sell items.”

“Metropolis is a bonafide vintage experience with pieces dating back to the early 20th century. I wore a circa 1910 wax flower crown from here for my wedding! The owner is extremely knowledgeable in fitting, styling, and fashion history which is super helpful when shopping. It’s like hunting for treasure with a professional guide. I’ve came away with hauls of 10+ items every time I shop here and always get compliments when I wear what I’ve gotten—same with my husband, brother, and father!
It seems like most of the negative reviews come from people who are afraid to chat with the owner and don’t respect the fact that the curated items are valuable and well-preserved from the last century. Vintage items aren’t made of stretchy polyester, people ?! People are so sensitive these days.”
“A very interesting store of handmade, antiquey and unique pieces. Been going there for years and have always loved their unique things. A great place for gifts that are very unique.”
