The old architecture inside is amazing, and the most charming part, besides the postmaster, is the wall where children's heights are measured across time. What a sweet small heartwarming place. “Milton's post office is a remnant from a past world. It's 'Post mistress's knows all it's patrons and has you packages that are too large to fit into your PO box on the counter before you ask. It is a reminder that there were once places that didn:t exist to process customers like they were a machine.”
“I had an experience today with a USPS carrier named Ash that deserves to be recognized.
I happened to be outside when she came by and asked about mail I had placed on hold for the past five days, expecting it would all be delivered today. She wasn’t aware of it at the time and explained it would likely come with my regular carrier on Monday. While I was disappointed, I understood.
What happened next completely changed my perspective.
Later that same day, on a Saturday afternoon, Ash returned on her own time to make it right. I wasn’t home, but she delivered all of my held mail and left a handwritten note that read, “Sorry, I didn’t check the hold mail, it was my mistake, so I had to fix my mistake.”
That kind of ownership is incredibly rare. No excuses, no passing it along, no waiting until Monday. She took full responsibility and went out of her way to correct it immediately.
In a world where it’s easy to do the minimum, Ash chose to go above and beyond. Her work ethic, integrity, and pride in what she does are exactly what great service is all about. She turned a small inconvenience into a memorable, positive experience.
USPS is fortunate to have someone like Ash representing them. She sets a standard that others should strive to follow.”

Yes, it’s rather inconvenient that the service window/counter closes down entirely for 90 minutes Monday-Friday for lunch, but ALL of the smaller POs in this area do that.”
