Hours: The Children's Village is a place filled with many memories for those who lived there across different decades, from the 1960s to the 1990s and beyond. Former residents recall living in various cottages with names like King Unit Bird Cottage, Bradish, Lenox, McAlister, Rose, and Collins. The experience included a wide range of activities such as football, baseball, softball, boxing, basketball, and swimming, with games against outside teams. There were also trips, the building of an Indian village, and participation in a choir. The education in the main building and the trade shops, like the shoe shop, is remembered as being good. Many reflect on the strong advice and lessons learned that helped them later in life, with some alumni going on to graduate high school, build families, and give back to their communities. While the experience presented challenges, the overall sentiment is positive, with former residents expressing a desire to visit again and sharing that it was a nice place with cool people.
