Hickory Hollow Wine Cellars
5289 NY-14, DundeeThis was our second visit to Hickory Hollow in the past few years, and it was even better than we remembered. Their whites are delicious, and their reds are among the best in the Finger Lakes. Jenny is our favorite, she’s incredibly knowledgeable and an so nice to chat with. Don’t miss this stop on your next wine tour!

Keg & Barrel on Keuka Lake
14720 NY-54, DundeeFirst and foremost, there was no one there when we arrived and about 5 people showed up afterwards. It was a weekend day so I'm thinking they adjust to the expected crowds. 3 stars on food is simply because no food was available at the time we were there, again maybe weekend? Regardless, beer selection was good, clean facilities and the solo worker did great.

Tabora Farm & Winery
4978 Lakemont-Himrod Rd, DundeeWe were looking for a place to eat while driving around Seneca Lake and another winery recommended stopping here. We had the best sandwiches we ever ate here. The bread used was amazingly delicious taking the idea of a sandwich to a new level. We also picked up some cookies to take to snack during our ride that were almost as good as the sandwich. Please stop here to eat lunch or buy baked goods, it’s really good.

McGregor Vineyard
5503 Dutch St, DundeeMcGregor Vineyard was one of the most memorable stops of our time on Keuka Lake, largely because it felt like stepping into a piece of Finger Lakes wine history. The tasting room has a quaint, old-school character, and we settled in with a snack plate before tasting through the wines.
The real highlight was hearing the story behind McGregor’s Black Russian Red. We learned that the winery had been working with Saperavi for decades, long before most visitors in the Finger Lakes would have recognized the grape by name. The wine became known as Black Russian because the name was easier for people to understand at the time, even though Saperavi was always the heart of the wine. Later, after the family decided it was time to let the grape speak for itself, Black Russian became Saperavi Reserve.
That history made the tasting feel much more personal than simply moving from one pour to the next. McGregor is clearly serious about its dry reds, its vineyards, and the wines it has been developing for generations. We enjoyed the tasting, appreciated the stories and conversation behind the wines, and left with a few bottles to bring home. It is an excellent stop for anyone who wants distinctive Finger Lakes wines with real history behind them.
