“This is a long overdue review of US 1, auto sales and services. I have known Ted for almost 30 years, and he has always been there to help. In addition to buying 2 cars from me, 2 examples are as follows;1) My son purchased an old clunker from US 1 when he went off to college. Ted assured me that the car was in good shape, and sure enough it made it through his college career without any major incidents. Additionally, this was a last-minute type situation, and Ted expedited all the paperwork and insurance in a very timely fashion to make it all work.2) One evening, my wife’s car broke down in Yonkers in a very dangerous area. I contacted Ted, and he had a tow truck there within 30 minutes, and also took my wife and family home. For that experience, we will always be gratefulTed is always going 100 miles an hour, but if you have a situation where you need immediate help, he will always be there for you. His team is excellent, and Sonia is always there to make sure that priorities get addressed.Responsiveness and relationships are most important. I no longer live in the area, but if I ever needed something, I know it would be taken care of by the US 1 team.Rick Reid”

“I was so happy to find them… never noticed that the local Shell had a car rental office! And half the price from the airport rental, usually it’s the other way around. The car was THE cleanest rental I have EVER had and there was a complimentary scraper for snow/ice in the back seat. The 2 guys were helpful and nice, I was thrilled to see more than one staff. They hustled with 4 customers when I arrived 8:05. My contract said pick up time 8:23. That is super speedy service. Thanks again for getting us on the road so quick :)Pro-tip: the smaller local car rental places in lower Westchester do run out of cars. Best to call for availability prior to booking, but you can always wing it. They are dependent upon prior renters to return timely. Had a reservation at Enterprise on Central Ave and got a call they ran out… got to be flexible with back up plans :)”

“5 stars really isn't enough to describe my experience with Max. I now have 2 vehicles from him. Both are in great condition. He takes his time to search for the perfect vehicle within your budget and with all the equipment you need in it. The traditional car buying experience is you walk into a showroom and get hounded by sales people trying to make a buck. With Max, its very personable much like a one on one session with no hounding whatsoever. “Due to the chaos of a holiday weekend, they did not have the car we reserved but promptly put us in something else that worked out great. Jessie was helpful, cool, and had a great welcoming vibe throughout the whole process which was less than 10 minutes between arriving and driving off. The attached service station also has a free-to-use air compressor, which is a subtle but really thoughtful touch. Jessie is the man, and we had a great experience at this location. Thanks y’all!”

“I both dropped off a car from here and then later picked up a car from here. Both times, the transactions were relatively quick and fuss-free. They don't have many cars at this location but it is very convenient to me because I can access Metro North before or after renting. Both cars were clean and full of gas and paperwork was processed quickly. The Budget (and Avis) counter is on the same level as the Metro ticket counters, just across the way past the bus area.”

“They didn't have the compact car I reserved, so I was given a substitute, which ended up being a huge SUV with new technology that I wasn't as familiar with. However, one employee, Moses Meads, went above and beyond to stay after hours to show me how the vehicle functioned and even offered to swap out the vehicle the next day if I was available. I ended up not being available to return and get another vehicle, but it ended up being okay.”

“My son got a rental car from enterprise on Mamaroneck ave due to Mavis in Scarsdale damaging his car . He was highly upset by the time we got to enterprise but John was the nicest guy you can meet he took care of my son quickly and made the process an easy one . “Last time I rented from this location, I got a large SUV as I was transporting a few larger items to NYC. I got the car in the evening and was planning to drive to the city early morning ( I was returning the car in a different location). In the following morning as I was driving to the city, one of the tire sensors was signaling there is something wrong with the tire.I stopped and checked and to me it looked like it might be because of low pressure. Total trip that I drove was max 20 miles. As I was returning the car to location 220 W 31st St I did not have a chance to mention the tire sensor thing. Besides, sensor stopped flashing so I assumed everything is ok. To my surprise, one month later I received a letter claiming there was an issue with the tire and I caused it. Ended up getting charged $90 for it.Being Avis customer for years, very disappointed with how I was blamed for something I definitely have not caused. When asked for the evidence and pictures of the damage, I was told they are not required to provide any photos. To me, looks like Avis can charge their clients for whatever issues they want even months later and are not required to provide any documentation. I strongly advice reconsidering renting from Avis.[Edit]: Avis team reached out and my case was re-reviewed. Additional charge got reverted. Appreciate Avis' team help with resolving this. Bumping to 4 ⭐ as my previous experience renting from that location was rather positive.”

“I have 4 old apartment buildings in Westchester County NY. After converting all to gas I needed to remove the oil tanks, but it took me 7 years to get it done. Barrier got rid of a tank in a basement in one location and in the last 2 days they removed 3 underground tanks that had been in the ground for 80 to 100 years. This was in one location on three adjacent houses. Two 550 gallon tanks were removed and one 1000 gallon tank was left in the ground and emptied. At that point they opened the bottom of the tank and soil samples were removed and tested. The inspector observed that there was no soil contamination. These are professional people who have been doing this for a long time. They handled the town inspection process, got the soil samples tested and took away the 2 tanks, filled in the holes and swept up the area. I recommend Barrier without reservation.”
