I told them about the shower theme of the nutcracker suite in all pink and they had the amazing idea of using tulle. The flowers were fresh and so perfect. “We worked with Monica Chimes for our Oct '24 wedding. I really wish I could give 5 stars because they were absolutely amazing leading up to our wedding. They were responsive, accommodating, & went above & beyond during the planning process. However, on the actual day, a few key mistakes were made that impacted our experience.

Ultimately, the root cause of the day of mishaps stemmed from lack of communication & coordination between our planner & MC. We will place the majority of the blame on our planner, however some accountability does fall on MC. Our planner communicated the timelines via a platform called “Timeline Genius” & while the MC team answered our planner’s other questions, they ultimately didn’t confirm the timeline. This lack of confirmation & lack of follow-up is an oversight by our planner. But essentially, the team didn’t arrive until 1 hour after the time we thought they were arriving. By the time the flowers arrived, delays was already well underway.

The most important floral arrangement was my bouquet with my late father’s tie wrapped around it so he could "walk" me down the aisle, & unfortunately the tie was left behind. The team worked to remediate this quickly & retrieved the tie from the shop & delivered it to the wedding about 1 hr before our ceremony, which I truly appreciate. Additionally, the tie was wrapped differently than expected. We learned after the wedding that this was due to the size/shape of the actual bouquet. No issues here overall, but a head’s up would have been nice.

Our altar arrangements also looked different than expected. We learned this was due to flower availability & the team had to take creative license for a replacement. The team is skilled &I understand the need for creative license, but it was surprising to see vibrant orange at the altar when our aesthetic was muted. Communication of this before the event would have been appreciated.

Another source of miscommunication was repurposing the bridesmaids bouquets to the sweetheart table. This was something discussed with MC early on, but we later learned they expected our planner to do this. We were able to make the change ourselves but again, it’s clear more communication was needed between MC & our planner.

Now onto the things we loved about working with MC:

They are extremely collaborative about working with you on a color palette as well as which types of flowers fit in your budget. They never hesitated to hop on a phone call if you had any changes or questions.
Their contract was the easiest vendor contract to read out of all of the vendors we worked with. It listed the types of florals, arrangements, locations of arrangements, colors, etc. Essentially, their contract embedded the setup instructions for the day of. This made it so easy for us to read, understand, & double check. I truly cannot emphasize enough how fantastic their contract system is. We loved it!
They offer a table mockup at their location in West Harrison. This is a huge benefit & allows you to really see what the centerpieces will look like, & they were collaborative in exploring alterations.
They know the NYBG extremely well. We sourced all of our candles through them & they immediately knew how many windowsills the venue had.

Ultimately, I would work with MC again. I would be sure to have a final meeting with them the week of/a few days before the wedding to make sure nothing is missed & not rely on a planner to have those conversations.”

“I would highly recommend this florist shop. Last week I randomly stopped in to purchase some flowers for my mom. A friend from North Carolina sent my mom a card with some money in it to purchase either flowers or candy. She was trying to lift my mom's spirits. This was my first time in this shop. I explained to Brigida that my mom was gravely ill and that she always said, "give her flowers while she can still see them". Of course, at this point my voice was cracking and I'm starting to cry. Not only did she comfort me but she then proceeded to make the most beautiful floral arrangement for my mom that I could have imagined. We talked a bit about my mom including the fact that she liked bright colors and then Brigeda went to work. She was very deliberate in her choice selections, even sharing with me the meaning behind the name of certain flowers. It's rare today to find someone who displays such kindness, thoughtfulness and empathy in thecbusiness world. Usually, it's all about the money. I didn't find that to be the case at Colonial Village Flowers. What an awesome experience I had!! I went back to the shop today and shared with Robert, the owner, what a treasure he has in Brigida! I'm confident that whether you're buying flowers for a loved one as I did, floral arrangements for a wedding or even a funeral, you will NOT be disappointed. “The staff at Mr. Bokay (pronounced bouquet) was amazing! I placed a phone order for a funeral spray because I couldn't find any suitable arrangements online, which could accommodate Chinese traditions. I kid you not, Mr Bokay's flowers went above and beyond my expectations! He included all the Chinese must haves, chrysanthemums and lillies in hues of yellow and white. He even added the traditional ribbons capturing the names of our dearly departed and of the donors. Mr Bokay followed all my instructions, down to every flower and every color!
