The American Airpower Museum is a fantastic, hands-on aviation museum and a real gem for anyone interested in history. It is a detailed, expansive, and fascinating local museum with a ton of history and a long list of aircraft on-site that can keep visitors busy for hours. The experience is very hands-on; guests can go inside the airplanes and sit in the pilot chairs and turrets, which is always a favorite. It is also fun to watch the airport airplanes taking off and landing outside, including flights of WW2 planes and Cold War era jets. The staff and many volunteers are very knowledgeable, well-versed, and happy to give tours, explaining facts and personal and historical stories. They are very apologetic and helpful when needed. The museum is a great experience for families, including young kids and grandparents, and kids love the simulator flight. It is highly recommended for anyone interested in World War Two military aviation or military aviation in general. Visitors will not be disappointed and will find it a fantastic, 4-star experience definitely worth the visit.
A fantastic weekday trip! We were able to get right in with a minimal wait of under 10 minutes. The aircraft displays are fascinating and the staff is very knowledgeable. Great 4-star experience for anyone interested in aviation history.
