Booked a one night stay at the lodge for $498. The moment we got into the room, we found bugs all over the ceiling. We hardly spent 2-3 minutes in the room in total and did not use any amenities. The front desk manager inspected the room and agreed to the presence of bugs. She mentioned that she will have to talk to the Innkeeper, Eric, about the situation. We asked if there is any other room in the same price bracket that we have paid, so that we can move to that room. We were told that no other rooms were available. The InnKeeper arrived shortly at the lodge and gave us two options: #1 Stay in the same room after they "Clean" the bugs. #2 Leave the lodge without any refund. He falsely claimed that bugs entered the room because we opened the windows - which is a big lie as the front desk manager herself checked that the windows were closed. Moreover, the bugs were densely nested on one of the corners of the ceiling which tells that they have been there for quite sometime and definitely not for 2-3 minutes as mentioned by him.We chose to leave the lodge considering the health risks of sleeping in a room infested with bugs. I have repeatedly been asking the front desk if I can get email of the higher ups of the Inkeeper, but they declined to share the email id. They insist that they cannot do this without permission of Inkeeper. The lack of proper management and channels to address customer concerns is a major problem of this lodge. We felt that their only motive was to get the money out of our pocket. The whole experience has left a very sour taste in our mouths and we feel duped.

My wife and I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Minnewaska Lodge in Gardiner, NY, and our experience was absolutely delightful. The awe-inspiring views of the Shawangunk Mountains provided a breathtaking backdrop, and the hiking trails allowed us to immerse ourselves in the beauty and wonders of nature. Our room at the lodge was exceptionally spacious, and the bed and pillows ensured a restful and comfortable stay. The continental breakfast offered a satisfying and delicious start to our days. We found great joy not only in the warm hospitality and engaging conversations with Eric but also in savoring his delectable homemade croissants.Overall, our time at the Minnewaska Lodge was truly relaxing and memorable, thanks to the splendid surroundings, comfortable accommodations, and the delightful touches of hospitality of the staff.

Ive been coming to the lodge almost every year since it was built. The new owners are by far, the nicest and the most friendly. The lodge is clean, quiet, relaxing, and warm. The rooms are all well maintained sized perfectly and very accommodating. And TheBreakfast buffet and great coffee overlooking the gunks or a night-time fire pit in the back, is the best.Already booked another stay in a few months.

Visited again in November 2023 and found that the Lodge has been returned to its former glory by the wonderful new innkeeper Eric. Also, while the quality of the service has gone up, prices have gone DOWN! Great place to stay and great value for money.

Room service cleaned the room while we were out. Upon return, we noticed they left the door open. Nothing was missing. However, that was irresponsible.

I had the pleasure of staying at the Minnewaska Lodge, and it was an absolute delight. From the moment I arrived, I was struck by the warm and welcoming atmosphere that enveloped me. The innkeeper, Eric, goes above and beyond to ensure that every guest feels like a valued friend rather than just another traveler passing through. The personal touch provided by Eric and his team truly sets the Minnewaska Lodge apart. From personalized recommendations for local attractions to ensuring that my stay was comfortable and memorable, their dedication to their guests is evident in every interaction. The lodge's location is a nature lover's dream come true. The secluded nature trails that wind through the surrounding wilderness are nothing short of spectacular. Whether you're an avid hiker or just looking for a peaceful stroll, these trails offer a serene escape into nature. One of the highlights of my stay was the multiple fire pits scattered around the property. I spent evenings under the starry sky, gathered around the fire, making new friends and sharing stories. It's a unique and memorable experience that added to the sense of community and warmth that defines the Minnewaska Lodge.Last but certainly not least, let's talk about the breakfast. The morning spread at the lodge is a culinary delight. The delicious, homemade breakfast options served in a cozy dining area make for the perfect start to your day.In summary, the Minnewaska Lodge is a hidden gem that offers an unforgettable, personalized experience. The personal touch provided by Eric and the friendly staff, the secluded nature trails, the inviting fire pits, and the fantastic breakfast make it a must-visit destination for anyone seeking a rejuvenating escape in the heart of nature. My stay here was nothing short of exceptional, and I can't wait to return.

Updates to include a response to their response:I left an honest review of what happened during my stay and am confused on why it was taken as odd or malicious. I was there for everything I stated and would never have included it if I was not. Everything I said was true which is why the brides and the guest who was locked out had their room comped for one of the nights, but that has nothing to do with me. This was my personal experience at Minnewaska Lodge. I am not and was never looking for a refund of any type. (Although a how was your stay or an apology upon checkout would have been nice). What I originally wanted was a response to my email (which never came but was so quickly provided after this review). An update that you've learned from those mistakes and have enhanced your safety measures is all I was looking for. I am glad other guests had a great weekend but as someone in the bridal party, I can tell you your staff did not go above and beyond to help us. My review is to simply let others know what my own experience was. I truly hope you did learn from these issues - that your staff is more respectful to guests, someone is actually reachable at all hours of the night, and that most of all the master keys are locked away. I'd also recommend privately responding to all emails as this public review would not have been posted if you had ever responded to my original email that was sent 20 days ago.Original:From the moment I arrived, the customer service was severely lacking. It was the most unwelcoming check in I have ever received at any place. Throughout the day the front desk employees were nowhere to be found. I came down in the morning for towels but there was no one at the front desk (there was a sign saying they went to retrieve housekeeping), when I came down looking for where the conference room was there was no one to point me in the right direction, there were people waiting at the front desk for awhile also looking to be helped, at the end of the night one of our keys was deactivated and there was no one to reactivate it.There were rude comments made throughout my stay to various guests for no reason. It was appalling. No matter the age or race of a guest, they should be treated with respect. At the end of the night when we returned from the wedding, one of the rooms in our group had a deactivated key. We called, texted and left multiple voicemails to all lodge contacts provided with absolutely no response. The next contact with anyone who worked at the lodge was the following morning when the front desk employees came into work. That is completely unacceptable to leave a guest stranded without a room all night. There were other people staying there who were not in our group who also had trouble with their keys and could not get in touch with anyone. Again, absolutely unacceptable especially for how much you charge to stay there. We were able to get them into their rooms, over an hour later, after we located a housekeeping master key. If we had not found the key, these paying guests would have had nowhere to stay and the GM and other employees never responded and seemed to not care. Not to mention, it is incredibly unsafe to not have the master key behind lock and key. I am concerned for the safety of your future guests if that policy is not changed. The fact that any guest has easy access to a master key overnight (because there are no employees on site overnight) is frankly unbelievable.Overall, I am shocked by the lack of safety and customer service for such an expensive hotel (paid over $400 a night). I also emailed them after my stay all of these concerns and never received any response. I emailed them 20 days ago so I feel I gave them ample time to respond before leaving this review.

I went for a family wedding and was pleasantly surprised by the attention to detail that the staff and manager, Eric, provided to us. The morning continental breakfast was amazing! The manager even made freshly baked croissants. Absolutely delicious! Would highly recommend staying at this magnificent lodge. It felt as if we were at home.Rooms: My room had a great view was able to enjoy having morning coffee and afternoon tea on the the balcony. The staff kept my room and bathroom extremely clean I loved that since I’m kind of a neat freak.Nearby activities: Lots to do in are a car is needed to get around to the sites in area.Safety: Never felt unsafe in anywayWalkability: Note worth to know only one restaurant with in walking distance.Food & drinks: Great restaurants around.Noteworthy details: The manager and front desk staff made you feel welcome at all times.

The staff are caring and knowledgeable about the area (answered all my silly questions). My room (with the cliff view) was excellent. My husband and I enjoyed our visit very much and looking forward to another visit next year.

Priced like a 3-star but is a 2-star. This hotel should be priced like an economy hotel. There is a daily lodge service fee which amounted to $34/day which was annoying to say the least. My total for two days in late August was $828. Ouch!

We stayed here for one night. It was fine, you’re definitely paying for the views and location. The place lacks a bit of soul. The main issue is the lodge smelled like food in the main lobby and buttered popcorn in our room, the entire time. That doesn’t make for the best experience. You want the place you stay in to smell clean and fresh. Also the coffee was the weakest we’ve ever had, didn’t taste like coffee, they definitely need to brew it with more grounds to make it stronger. Great coffee can really lift an experience. It’s sad that they don’t seem to use the kitchen. It would serve people better to allow them to use the well set up commercial kitchen since it isn’t being used. People could make their own meals, would be great for all of the backpackers and hikers I imagine they get. Overall it was just fine but with a few tweaks it could be a truly incredible place to stay.Rooms: DatedNearby activities: Accessibile hikingSafety: Felt safe

Excellent place for a weekend getaway from NYC in the summer. My wife and I stayed at the lodge for a weekend. We found the service extremely hospitable and will certainly return in other seasons. Conveniently located to easy access to the climbing hub of the northeast.

Rooms were very comfortable, not elegant, but nice. Just a few miles from town and the trails. Restaurant conveniently located across the street and easy to walk to. Staff were very friendly & helpful. Will definitely be back.
