Gorgeous spot and super inspiring. I feel like it embodies some of the best parts of the lower Hudson valley; beautiful nature scenes of small Rocky Mountain streams and waterfalls. Their design aesthetic should be more widespread in my opinion. If you don’t want to take the paid tour, you can still park and see some of the grounds for a nice 15 min break off the road.

Manitoga is a gem and the whole experience was wonderful. A stunningly beautiful setting created by Russel Wright, both inside and out. The tour guide was very good and provided much background and context for the structures and setting. The only negative was that the work of Artist-in-Residence fellows were placed around the residence, and were a most unwelcome visual intrusion on a design masterwork, and were totally out of place and ruined the look of Wright's design. The work of fellows should have been displayed away from the home, perhaps in the gallery, or somewhere else entirely. October 1, 2023

I had a fantastic time on my 1.5 hour guided tour! It’s roughly 45mins inside and 45mins outside, though it’s important to note it’s not a 45min hike to and from the house. Instead, half of the guided tour is spent on the grounds surrounding the house. So much of MANITOGA is appreciation of the natural and manicured environment. If you’re a fan of beautiful things, architecture, design, landscaping and nature, you’ll love the 1.5 hour guided tour. I went with my mother and girlfriend — we had a blast. Excellent value. Highly recommend!

After learning about the key figures of midcentury modern industrial design, Russel Wright's home was on the list of places to visit. The tour guides were great and the experience was well worth the visit. Recommend to anyone who loves architecture and design.

If you are an elder or have any kind of mobility disability do not come here. There are no guardrails on uneven rock strewn paths. I have difficulty walking due to foot drop and spinal issues. The staff seem to have no awareness about how dangerous this could be and one person as an afterthought ran up to me after I had paid for and started on the guided tour to tell me that he would walk me back if I couldn't make it. It was a miserable experience for me and not enjoyable at all and the guide was no sympathetic.

This Tour was so informative( Steven was our Guide).....the property is so beautiful & the Wright's home a perfect example of mid-century modern architectureI am a fan of the Wright's so this Tour was really special learning the history of building Manitoga. You must make a reservation to secure your spot + if it's the week-end... give yourself time to get there.

Went to Manitoga to view the home of Mid-Century designer Russel Wright and had a magnificent day! The grounds are rustic but so well thought out and our guide was FABULOUS! She knew a ton of details about the man and his vision for the property. The home is so interestingly creative, taking full advantage of the land that it sits on. A wonderful way to spend a day!

We had a great tour with Alan (Allen?) of the beautiful grounds and personal house/studio developed over many years by Russel Wright. We learned of the detail and specificity he put into the design of both, the analogy with Wright's early experience designing theatrical sets, his fascination with experimenting with material (a gorgeous screen made with sliced toilet paper rolls; you'd never guess), his early insistence on having a green roof, his love of mosses and laurels and his dedication to native species and the integration of human living spaces with the natural world. Not to mention his ceramics for "ordinary people." Highly recommend. Manitoba also incorporates art work by others. It's close enough to NYC for me to contemplate returning to hike the trails.

Such a wonderful place! The tour was very interesting and well organized. The way the approach the house on one of Wright's hiking paths adds to the drama of the setting. Our guide very well informed and interesting. After the tour we stayed and hiked the loop yo Lost Lake and the Hudson outlook.

We did not take the house tour so this review is based on walking the trails. There are 3 trails loop with easy to moderate levels, trails are well marked. They are designed to be walked in specific direction. From the trails you can't see the house. View are nice but not spectacular.

Lovely grounds and trails, and the tour was really interesting (thanks to our tour guide, Alan). Never visited when I lived in the valley, so happy I finally saw it now.
