“Crossfit Vertical is located in my neighborhood (lucky me!). That alone could be why it feels like so safe and welcoming; but really, it's the tone of the gym, which is intentionally set by owners Jana and Andy and is held by all the coaches, that has allowed me to feel more at home, welcomed and supported in a gym than ever. I love that I can just show up for class, am coached each time through a warm up, movement review, workout and post workout stretching that I didn't have to design! I always feel like I can move at my own pace but have the bonus of a coach and of exercising within the amazing camaraderie and support of "teammates" (other members)! Yes please. The philosophy of scaling all the movements (more or less weight, variation on a movement, etc) to honestly meet where I am physically and emotionally on that particular day, at whatever stage of life, is not a second thought in the coaching, it is integral and underscored. Being part of this community has really made my life feel fuller. Thank you Crossfit Vertical!!”

“This box has nowledgeable coaches, a fantastic facility with all the gear you could ever want. In addition, the programming is challenging, scalable a lacks a sense of overtraining seen at some gyms. Keep up the great work!”

“FLX is the best! All of the instructors make an effort to learn your name and get to know you, it's a very welcoming community. If you are looking to get a great workout with different group class formats, feel a sense of belonging, this is the place for you. The instructors are professional and motivating but also have plenty of fun! They are great at challenging the activity but also offering accommodations for all abilities. The schedule is packed with a variety of LesMills classes with several time slots available to make it work for any schedule. My favorites are Sprint with Emily and Combat with Dani! I cannot recommend FLX enough!”

“The wide variety of equipment is up-to-date and in good order. The management is great and they're always kind and helpful. Of course it gets crowded after work, but members are respectful and polite. There are a bunch of max racks, all the dumbbells you'd ever need (up to 120 lbs!), and a lot of cardio equipment and other machines. The South Hill location is smaller and has a correspondingly smaller variety of equipment, but it's good for what it is. You'll surely be able to do the workout that you want to here!”

“Our group rented the conference center for a workshop in the healing arts. The view of the sky, the hills, and the lake were the perfect complement for our work. The place was clean and spacious and quiet. The facilities manager, her assistant, and their team were kind, welcoming, and efficient. We were enchanted and can't wait to be back.”

“April is the best Personal Trainer I could have hoped for. Trying to get in shape and stronger for an overweight 61 year old seemed impossible. But April is patient, encouraging, and so knowledgeable, that it has really been a pleasure, and being stronger in general makes everyday tasks so much easier.”

“Definitely the premier fitness center in Ithaca. No question there. It’s just a little surprising that they make you rent towels. It’s apparent that there isn’t a full time staff to do laundry, clean, etc — let’s just say I’m not comfortable going barefoot in the locker rooms. This isn’t typical of most gyms of this caliber.Great gym, but use some of that cashola to give us towels and a cleaner locker room.”

“The trainer there is very respectful and has a great since of humor, and conditions very well. He trains fighters and people who want to be fit. He is very cautious about safety. He keeps his gym and equipment squeaky clean. I'd rate a five”

“Good solid gym. Good and friendly staff. 24/7 access is excellent. Diverse. Not intimidating. They only need to add plants, and images/art on the walls -- they're only weakness.”

“Been going since June 2022. It's been hard for me to keep up a consistent gym program, but since joining this gym I have been regularly exercising every week since. Where before I wouldn't have that level of consistency. The work outs are challenging, but they always have options to meet you where you and your body are. I enjoy all the coaches I've interacted with and it does become a close knit community when you go to the same classes week after week. I feel a lot stronger when I do functional everyday movements and I have never had a gym program get me to not press my snooze alarm in the morning cause I know I need to go. The late canceling/no show fee of $12 is a lot, but that definitely keeps me from not missing a workout. You can always avoid the fee by taking a class later in the day, and the staff is understandable if a difficult circumstance keeps you from coming in. Definitely feel like I get in a good workout after each one and no two workouts are exactly the same each week. So it's very stimulating for me. Grateful for this community and since it is national I can get workouts in whenever I travel for work or personal. I used to pay for the premier because I enjoyed going so much (4-5x) I now do the elite plan with 8 classes since it fits my budget right now but I still feel well exercised with this monthly plan (I make sure to come in on days where there are speciality workouts or milestones).”

“Great fitness center with spacious and clean dance/all purpose room, and a lot of other fund activities. The locker room is too small and makes it a bit challenging to change.”

“I don’t know why some of the reviews give this place a hard time. It’s very easy to access once you get a membership and they have all the equipment you need. Everything is a little “dingy” but at the price point of the membership and for 24/7 I think a little dirt and duct tape on some equipment is fine. It’s never super busy and I feel super comfortable here.Other gyms I’ve tried in the area is island fitness on community corners: equipment is newer there but it’s not as spaced out as East Shore or 24/7. I often felt crammed there/just didn’t like the vibes. But it could be a really good option for someone else. I also go to planet fitness which is extremely limited for my goals and the only good thing about it is the $10 a month/it’s a 2 minute drive from my house.Really glad I found east shore gym!”

“Has 2 beautiful swimming pools! One is a 4ft pool and the other is a 4ft-12ft pool. I love how they decorated the inside with the names of every school in the Ivy League”

“This review is on the location in Community Corners which I prefer as it is smaller, fewer people working out, great staff always ready to help me, no pool so cost is low, very clean, and easy parking.”

“Convenient gym. As an overview: There is a free weight area, ~10 treadmills, ~15 ellipticals, 4 stepper machines, and several stationary bikes (with 2 special ones where you can chase the dragon). The free weight area is small but there is space enough. There are 4 free-weight benches, 2 squat racks, and 1 bench press. There is also a repertoire of machines and a cable machine as well. The stretch / mat area is also small but there is one. There are small lockers for your personal belongings inside the fitness center itself. The music they play is sometimes boring, basically the same pop songs every day. One thing to consider is the time that you go... this is a university gym so expect it to be crowded with undergraduates at certain times of the day. It is quite empty during the summer, though. This gym is strangely silent. I don't think I've spoken 5 sentences to anyone here in the 8 months I've been going.”

“Very nice place, The workers keep everything very clean and are super nice. The only thing Is I wish they would add a Jacobs Ladder and more options for legs/glutes.”
