“My fiance and I came in not knowing anything about Indian clothing and we had to purchase multiple outfits for an Indian wedding. They were so lovely and walked us through the traditional garments and how to wear them. They really took their time to help us feel comfortable and explained everything and were so patient! They freely let us try on the garments and helped us through the entire process
Prices were extremely reasonable too! My fiance got a kurta for $55 and a nice jacket for $200. I got multiple silk sarees ranging from $100-200
We had gone to two other Indian clothing stores in Kips Bay but both shopkeepers there were extremely rude”

“I love to treat myself to a jalebi + chai here. The combo immediately puts me in a happy place, it’s a real Ratatouille moment for me. The guy is always so kind too. And it’s helpful that they accept card/tap payment.
Side note: they do it right with their chai. As someone who grew up on bastardized Hong Kong milk tea in Chinatown, tea has a different taste when milk is added to the cup, versus when it’s been heating with spices for chai. I’ve had chai where milk is added to the cup instead of simmered all together. That method… does not quite bring me to a happy place. So, I am a happy patron of Virasat. Strongly recommend.”

He was incredibly patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful—not just with me, but also with my mom. He took the time to explain everything clearly, answered all of our questions, and never made us feel rushed.
I originally told him my budget was $300, and because of how well he explained the pieces and helped us choose meaningful items, I confidently walked out with a $450 purchase and I’m extremely happy with it. He truly knows his stuff and made the whole experience enjoyable.
