The WiFi password didn’t work, which was a bit frustrating, especially when you’re trying to get things done. However, the overall design of the space is excellent — very well thought out and visually impressive.

It also feels like a place that would be great for hosting larger events or group gatherings.

“My daughter got married last month at Sound River Studios. It was a 160 person wedding, and we liked the fact that it was spacious enough to have an indoor ceremony if the weather didn't cooperate. But it did! Even as long-time New Yorkers, we were captivated by the river and Manhattan views as it went from sunlight to dusk to night. And the many guests from Chicago and Michigan were charmed as well. It is truly a magical and romantic venue for a wedding. In contrast, the surrounding neighborhood is wonderfully gritty and urban; and we loved that too. It made for dramatic and unusual New York City photographs by Bin at B.Legend.

The space is enormous and empty, so be prepared to bring in all of the furniture and tableware, unlike in a hotel or catering hall. The bridal couple wanted a minimalist look, but it still took a lot of Edison bulbs, florals, and lanterns to decorate the space. One other note is that the acoustics can be challenging since there is nothing to absorb the sound. Be sure to test your equipment for ceremony and speeches. Our guests were on the younger side (late 20s), so the music was loud and hard to hold a conversation - but that's something you could control. It is completely wheelchair accessible.

Una is a pro. She is straight-forward, direct, and no nonsense, which we appreciated. She met us 4 (?) different times to walk through the space as the groom's parents were from out of town, and we'd changed planners midstream. The contracts and bar packages were clear. Between Una and our planner Dave from Events by Jesse, the party ran without any issues so we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly!

Pro-tip: We rented the two penthouse rooms at the Aloft Hotel. It has a rooftop terrace that's open to the public but scarcely used. We hung out there after the welcome reception Friday and until the wee hours after the wedding on Saturday. Much more relaxed than a bar. It was easy to run the shuttles to and from Sound River Studios, which is only about a mile away.”

A special shoutout to our event coordinator, Maritza, who was truly superb. She was organized, responsive, and incredibly helpful throughout the entire process. Her attention to detail and calm, professional approach made planning so much easier and allowed us to fully enjoy our day without worrying about anything.

If you’re looking for a venue with amazing staff, outstanding food, a great location, and a stylish modern feel, this place is an excellent choice. We highly recommend it to anyone planning their wedding.
