“The owners know all their products and are very experienced with importing merchandise that otherwise might be difficult to attain here in the States. From Transformers to Gundam, from Power Rangers to Ultraman, from One Piece to Jujutsu Kaisen, they’ve quite literally have it all. My brother and I will be frequenting this spot quite a lot in the near future and I hope anybody that is even remotely interested in shopping collectibles or hobby items that you will give this place a chance and fall in love with the atmosphere as did my brother and I!!”

“I hosted my daughter’s 3rd birthday party here and it could not be more perfect. The party was well organized, the venue was beautiful, and Ingrid was sooo helpful and delightful. “This shop is an easy five star based on their inventory, staff knowledge and overall great atmosphere to shop in. Willis Hobbies has been around MIneola since 1949. Not only have they been a fabric of the community but they always show their commitment to Mineola through their participation in Village events. If you can think of it.... You'll find it here. Plenty of electric cars, models (that go up to 2,000 pieces), lots of model trains and trains-accessories. The beauty of the shop is that the team here are experts. Depending what you're looking for will determine who you speak with. There is value shopping in a store that understands your needs and advices you accordingly. They always set up race cars at the MIneola Street to become more involved and engaged with the residents. In summation... there are good people here. KUDOs top the team at Willis Hobbies.”

“No weekend is complete without a run to 5 Below. It's always for something that's needed like a phone charger cord and then I wind up seeing so many other things that I feel like I must have. This location is usually pretty well stocked and the staff is friendly. Every once in a while they're short handed up front but they seem to make it work. On this trip I got pillows and a throw for my guest bedroom because they were super cute and affordable. I also bought another bookcase/organizer because I used one of theirs for my pop up shop set up and it works really great. Even though some things are more than $5 most of my items were actually $5. If you have a very small child, I'm warning you they have lots of cute toys and a lot of candy especially near the checkout so either prep them before you go in or don't bring them.”

“Excellent customer service! I ordered online for a store pick up and when I got there, I was helped or spoken to by three employees. One told me that someone will be with me shortly, one started the laminating machine for me, & the third one just simply told me no worries about something I mentioned. I usually have anxieties around back to school time and having to deal with lines can make me feel worse. This time, completely opposite of what I used to experience. I might go back soon just to use the laminating machine.”

“Heard about this store from the LI Teachers group on FB. Greatest little find. Store has teacher supplies throughout but most of it is concentrated in the back. The woman at the register is extremely helpful. If you can’t find something, just ask her, she will let you know if they have any more in the back or if the are ordering more supplies. They also laminate anything you buy for free. Plus teachers get a 15% discount. Great store and customer service.”

“I've been on a retro gaming hunt recently. Sadly, there just are not the same amount of stores around that there were 20, 10, or even 5 years go. Went to PopnGames recently and this place is great. Prices were definitely fair, selection was pretty good and the owner was really nice. I went mainly to establish that this is a place I would want to come to for the future but also because I had a Super Nintendo arriving and I wanted at least one game to test it out. I left with two very fairly priced games. I will definately be back.”

“They usually only keep 1-2 people as cashiers - but that's not the issue, apparently it's supposed to be self checkout or something? It always asks a question at the end, something related to the customer service or the cleanliness of that location. We don't even get a speak in answering to that, they just clear it off as soon as it comes, immediately putting a 5-star to those categories. Think it needs some improve, clearly lacks customer input and feedback.”

The staff is extremely knowledgeable and take their time to explain the products, along with helping customers troubleshoot. The online store (Trainworld) is my goto place for buying all things trains. They ship quickly, prices are competitive, and they stand behind the products they sell. Trainland continues to excel at providing that in person experience in the age where brick and mortar hobby stores continue to close. Highly recommend visiting and buying something there. They have everything from the Thomas trains for kids to the extremely high-end hobbyist quality products.”
