I wish if I can give less than one star, the girl employee are the most rudest person I’ve seen in my life!

Like the neighborhood, this place has changed a lot and not for the best. It used to be a great experience to shop there but after my last interaction, I'll be ordering off Amazon.

Located on First Avenue Ace Hardware is ideally situated for the residents of Stuyvesant Town. Of course they have many other neighborhood customers that also frequent the store. A lot of products are available from Benjamin Moore paints, games for children, gardening supplies to a multitude of cleaning products. I was in search for Bluette which I used to buy at Essex Market but after the pandemic was no longer stocked there. Here Mrs. Stewart's Concentrated Bluing was similar and I was delighted to finally find it. This is a product that I like to use for sheets and towels. Bottles of Soft scrub are sold for $4.99 which is the cheapest I have found. Keys are also cut here although one will be questioned if one stays at Stuyvesant Town as that's forbidden. Employees here are friendly and helpful taking customers to show them where the product is located.

So I'm a little late but a few weeks back I came in to the store with my husband and we couldn't decide what color we should paint our extra room. Thanks to Justina or Justine I Can't remember the name exact but she was great such a help and her spirit was amazing . I would definitely give her 5 stars thank you so much Ace family and thank you Justina as well .

These guys are the absolute best. Every time I come in the staff is incredibly knowledgeable and able to help hands-on.I recently had to add a plug to the end of a chandelier, they had the perfect product that could clamp the plug onto the wire in 30seconds and I was in and out of the store with the project done in 2 minutes

Conman run this store went to buy paint few month ago for touch ups and told me this paint isn't available anywhere. I called a different ace store was able to buy it without a problem. Made an online order cancelled when item still shows in stock and also available in store. STAY AWAY FROM THIS STORE RUN BY CROOKS AND CONMAN go to Home Depot and just order online will be cheaper as well

The overweight older woman with glasses at the cash register was very rude to me. I went to pick up an order from their online store “ much cheaper by the way” and she looked offended that I asked for my order. I grew up in this neighborhood and they used to be great. It’s no wonder everyone is turning to Amazon! I don’t see this chain lasting much longer!

I bought small desktop fan from this store then flew out of town for 6 weeks. (Maybe it was $40???? I do not know because I did not even look at the receipt). When I returned to town yesterday I decided to return it and get a larger floor model on AMAZON. I go to the store...they said no returns on fan. FINE. That is their policy, which they said is due to people buying, using and returning. I look at them and say nothing....proceed to look for something else in the store...NOW. They way the old man said all this to me was NOT FINE. RUDE. This guy should not be in front of any customers- he should be put in the deep back, or downstairs, far away from paying customers.Anyway- I return home to open the fan since I am stuck with it- and I open it and it totally looks used or damaged. See pictures.I walk back to the store to tell show him the irony of not accepting fan returns (he said because people could use them and then return them)- because they clearly sold me a damaged or used fan. He yells at me- they did not sell me that fan in that condition.I shop at this place all the time before this. THEY MOST CERTAINLY SOLD ME THIS SCUFFED UP FAN. I tell him I am not even asking for anything. I am just returning to show him the irony of the store policy. He again yells at me that they ABSOLUTELY DID NOT SELL ME THIS FAN.THEY ABSOLUTELY DID SELL ME THIS FAN IN THIS CONDITION. AND WHEN I RETURNED IT, IT HAD BEEN OPENED FOR THE FIRST TIME FOR ALL OF 5-10 MINUTES. ENOUGH TIME FOR ME TO OPEN IT AND ROUNDTRIP BACK TO THIS STORE.As much as I shop in this place and as much as I have spent here. I assure you- this was not worth losing this customer over the accusation that I lied about this fan.I will take my business elsewhere from here forward.I left the fan with them. This is how much this was NOT about the money. It was the principle. The poor product quality. The accusation that I lied. AND THE HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.0/10. Go to another location, where they treat customers with respect and don't accuse frequent customers of lying. No one should be spending their hard earned money to be talked to or treated so disrespectfully.

I went to this hardware store twice today. I live in a building that has a mix of wooden and steel studs. First, I needed to mount something into steel studs. I went in and asked for toggle bolts. The guy sold them to me, but gave me a "helpless little girl" type look and told me I needed to hire someone to install them. I went home and easily installed them with no issues. Then, I went back because I needed to mount a heavy object into wooden studs. I asked a different guy's opinion on whether I should use regular screws or lag bolts for my project based on the weight. He handed me a pack of plastic drywall anchors. I reminded him that I was mounting into wooden studs, and he said the drywall anchors would work for wooden studs. I didn't believe him, but decided to give it a shot- and lo and behold, they didn't work for the project. Went to a different hardware store for lag bolts and got great service.

Won’t accept ACE cards from credit. Had me stand in line to call the 800 number which was just an automated line - that confirmed it had balance. Then just told me he couldn’t figure it out dismissively.

Impressive selection of fasteners. This is a real hardware store. A little pricey, but in most cases beats ordering online.
