Not only is this bank awful to deal with but I just walked in and multiple employees are not wearing masks despite signs all over. When I asked a man to put his mask on he rolled his eyes at me. If the union is trying to protect its members the credit union should as well. This was the final straw and I will be closing my account permanantely. DO BETTER.

AFCU is an asset for all banking needs! The staff are total professionals & have become essential in my life. I do not hesitate to recommend them to anyone in the entertainment industry!

Tried to reopen an account with them. They had a promotion for $25 if you open an account, which I was ineligible for since I had previously had an account years ago. Fine, I get that. Then I'm told becuase of that (?) I need to send them a copy of my current card. Well, I just paid dues literally a few days ago on the due date and I don't have an updated card. I ask can I send the latest one I have? The answer is no. I'm sorry? Are you unble to confirm that I have a curent membership? Could I have sent a receipt for my paid up dues? Just no? Cool, tear up that application then, have a great day.

Issue after issue after issue with this credit union. Fraudulent charges on my account and no reversal of overdraft fees that were due to the banks negligence. Just like the name suggests, these people are actors, and bad ones, playing as if they work at a credit union. This is not a place to feel as though your money is safe.

UPDATE: You've failed to address the essence of my review. 1) I've provided details to your board members where an actors situation working on a low paying contract would allow them a free account at Citibank, chase, BOA, etc and they'd receive a fee from AFCU 2) get a system in place that doesn't charge fees until the transaction actually settles. 3) stop running a member focused financial institution that doesn't actually address the fact that many actors can't keep an account without fees. This financial institution exists to serve provide financial services to actors and those who work in the industry. Sadly, their services are designed to exclude these very people. Recent reports from AEA will show that the earnings of union actors will not allow them to meet the requirements of the CU. If you don't keep at minimum of $100 in your account - FEE. If you have money in your savings, but not your checking - FEE. If you get fuel for your car and the pump authorizes more than what is your checking account (even though the transaction will settle with money still in your account) - FEE. If transactions are made in error and refunded and a fee was assessed - the FEE remains. Leadership is largely unresponsive. You can get an account at a major commercial bank and meet the required minimums without a monthly fee. Also - no ApplePay!

This insitution is "sometimes serviceable". I joined after reading the original mission statement from Conrad Bain et al, saying it was started to help the unique position/sometimes plight of the actor (off and on work, banks turning down loans, etc.), "we're all in this together", right? Wrong. Nobody at this place gets this. You get CS people who just tell you how THEY do things, don't look at your account, evidently don't keep or consolidate notes about any ongoing issues. In essence, you won't likely feel they are trying to help in any real way. It just comes off as a didactic bureaucracy or a low-budget version of some big bank. The only good thing is the mobile deposit app and the affiliation with the Credit Union Co-Op. If you don't have the app, forget it, you will have endless frustration trying to put money in and get it out. Whatchu talkin' bout, Willis?! RESPONSE TO UPDATE 1 (BELOW) Yeah, sure. Heard it before. Update: you'll also get a damage-control PR guy who will attempt to smooth issues over if you post on Yelp after they're botched repeatedly by "Member Services". Over it. RESPONSE TO UPDATE 2 (BELOW) I don't wish to post my name here, no, but we have spoken. The problem is, Steven, no matter how skilled or interested you are, you are not who members deal with on a day-to-day basis, responding to concerns and questions about our accounts, if we want to head off issues or try and straighten them out. Of course, I have attempted to notify the credit union about a number of logistical concerns about card use, deposits, ubiquitous "holds", even what I could do to help make things work smoothly. I have discussed particulars ad nauseum. But, frankly, I'm tired of wasting my breath. I'm not demanding, but I would like things to function as advertised and not dread contacting my financial institution. I am here posting, not to continue futile conversations with AFCU, but to let other working actors know what I've experienced as a member the last few years. I hope this achieves that aim. Oh, and BTW, in the app, when making a deposit, the word "endorsement" is missing an "n".
