They didn't close my contract on the same day I returned the car and 3 weeks later, I received the e-receipt charging me almost $3000 more than what was stated in the contract, with different return details. We had to call costumer service 3 times during this period to resolve the misunderstanding and I'm still waiting for my refund. (Note: I would like to thank Edgar from Costumer Service for trying to resolve this entire problem that would not have existed if the store had carried out its work correctly and at the right time.)

The staff of the Avis office at 153 W 54th St in Manhattan were very nice, even the young security guard who called me brother (I like that far better than Grandpa). Thanks to each of you.

I had a bad experience here once and the cars you get in the city are mostly not the best but the last view experiences were all great. The staff is super helpful and friendly and a big shout out to Keshiah who brought me my driver's license to JFK after I forgot it at the counter (in time for my flight back home). That is real customer service! ?

Really unhappy. I returned car as full and they reported as 2 gallon. They send receipt as email after I left. When I tried their customer service it said it was closed and asked me to put a ticket. I did the same, I have the receipt of me filing the gas full few mins before I dropped.

The original car that was rented to me was in terrible shape. It had clearly been in an accident (damage to the front corner) and the tires were so worn down that it would never have passed inspection. Luckily the roadside assistance was great and they helped me swap out for a satisfactory vehicle, but the overall experience was not worth my money.

The reservation process was easy, and the price was reasonable. The checkout process was quick. However, when we got the SUV we reserved (an Equinox), it had yet to be cleaned thoroughly. There were crackers on the back seat! The cleaning person offered to clean it, but the manager offered a different SUV (a Forerunner), allegedly "ready to go." The inside was clean, so we drove off with it. However, when we got to the hotel and opened the trunk to load our luggage, there was a beer can and napkin that were probably used for eating pizza, judging from the sauce's color and the crease's nature. We didn't care to complain as we were in a hurry.

I had a terrible experience renting my car. The desk agent was extremely poor at communicating. I arrived on time for my car rental, there were 2 other people in front of me in line. The entire time the desk agent kept persevering on how she was going to go to lunch after me. Once I checked in she asked if I wanted a large truck as my rental. I stated I preferred the economy car I had reserved. Without any further communication she walked out of the office. She was then gone for the next 35 minutes. Upon returning she stated the only vehicles I have are a minivan and the truck. If I had known those were my only options I would have rented the truck from the start instead of this 45 minute delay. I was late for my event. I also payed for ez pass and there was no ez pass in the car. An employee informed me ‘it’s a new car, you just drive through the tolls’. I am extremely dissatisfied with the rental experience and ended up paying much more through gas fees and likely toll charged. I emailed Avis customer service last week and have yet to hear back.

Overcharge with impunity. Added a $50.99 charge because I returned my car a day early to a different Avis. The Avis I rented from this morning closed at 3:00pm. So the lady behind the counter said just return it to a different Avis that’s open later it’s no problem. Turns out it’s a problem and the customer service lady says “It’s a Valid Charge.” So friggin upset.So, Update! The Station Manager read this review and contacted me about $50 credit on my bill. Was very professional and he did the right thing, that’s all I was after. It was one star I moved it to four stars. Very Grateful, and I will tell anyone who asks. They made it right, and it all worked out in the end.

Totally disappointing experience - if I could give ZERO stars, I would.No one answers the phone (I was told the phone at the location where I rented didn't even work !) - employees don't seem interested in helping customers - items included in reservation aren't in vehicle at pick-up.After reserving a vehicle and 2 infant car seats over a month in advance, I showed up to find that NO car seats were in the vehicle. I was told I needed to go pick them up at another location that was completely out of my way because of staffing issues. One of the car seats I ended up getting was for a MUCH larger child AND had the following comment actually stamped into the back of it " DO NOT USE THIS CHILD RESTRAINT AFTER DECEMBER 2017".Online chat function was only able to give me a phone number of a location, not solve my problem.

Atrociously slow and unprofessional service. I rented a car using this agency as it was the nearest one to where we were staying. On reflection, we could have used one out of town and it would have been quicker. It took well over one hour from being seen at the front desk and getting our car. After signing all the paperwork, it took the lady helping us at the desk (who told us she was the Manager and worked there for over 30 years) over 20 minutes to get a radio response from her colleagues in the basement confirming which car we were allocated. Then another 30 minutes or so for the car to be sent up (as it was being washed). The car finally came (washing was evidently done in a rush and did not cover the inside of the car) and then we had to wait for it to be fueled. The staff appeared to have all the time in the world to do their job completely heedless of our frustration at their unpreparedness. Their delay had a bad impact on our trip. What is the point of booking in advance? I only give them 2 stars as it was easy to return it (other staff were on duty)

I hired a car from this office in central New York. My pick up time was 10:30 and did not get the car till 11:30. Lady at counter was on her own and 40 mins later another person appeared to help, even though you could see there was a que of people building up. On getting the car we were just handed it with a basic check on the outside. They forgot to tell me what fuel the car takes, which became a problem at fuel pump later on as took ages to work out.Also when the car was given to us the AC was on full blast, the reason for which we found out after as it seems the car had previously been used by someone who had a dog as dog hairs and smell was everywhere.Car itself drove okay and was nice if it was not full of dog hairs as I had some allergy to dog hairs.This specific Avis office needs to make sure they are following the standards expected and held by other Avis offices.
