Not the most expansive gallery space but they pack a lot of great stuff in there! If the exhibits are at all in your sphere of interest (IE, design and creation of objects) it is a great additional stop along with the NYHS or the MNH! Not for kids though, certainly!

Cool little gallery on the UWS, right off the 86th stop. Front staff person was super nice and very helpful. There were 3 small exhibits across 3 floors, took about and hour to go through. A must visit if you're from the area. It is a hidden gem

Exhibits are consistently engaging. The building itself is pleasant to be in, the staff is friendly and helpful, the topics are interesting. Even if you don't think a certain exhibit will hold your interest, you will find that it does indeed - and that is the fun of visiting this museum. You'll learn a new way of seeing something with every visit. It's not a big museum, which makes a visit manageable and memorable. A small selection of gift-shop items available for purchase.

Great small gallery. I enjoyed the exhibition "Threads of Power: Lace from the Textilmuseum St. Gallen". I learned that St. Gallen was and still is a major center for lace making.

I visited here with my wife for the Threads of Power exhibit on until 1/1/2023. On weekends the lace-makers teach a hands-on lesson in lacemaking! The exhibit was very well researched and felt like a good value for the price of tickets. Would recommend.

An amazing gem on the Upper East Side, located in an elegant townhouse. We went to see the Lace exhibit, and it was wonderful! I am exceedingly fond of lace, but knew absolutely nothing about its history, or how it's made. After a couple of hours here, I knew. This was a carefully and beautifully curated exhibition, on (I think) 3 floors. I could have sworn that I had more pictures. Anyway, one learns how lace was originally made: by young women, on a curved pillow. There are a couple of paintings of lacemakers, pillows on their laps. The exhibit also covers machine-made lace, with a video of lace machines. They're gigantic. There are also a few displays of lace clothing, and a video by a modern lacemaker. The final product, a collar, is framed. This is a wonderful place. The staff is friendly and gracious.

Treasure! Go if you l I’ve deep dive history of design. Just viewed the Threads of Power exhibit; loved the pieces, the people and especially the work room upstairs. I’ve been in the design industry my entire life and to be offered the opportunity to learn how to make bobbin lace was super cool. Listen to the audio for a trip back in time …Highly recommend!!!
