Claiming they aren't Pottery Barn, when they are styled like Pottery Barn is hilarious. Weak sauce.

BDDW, located in Soho, NYC, is a luxury furniture brand that creates unique and handcrafted pieces of furniture. Their collections feature a range of styles, from sleek and modern to rustic and eclectic. BDDW's pieces are made with high-quality materials, including solid wood and leather, and are designed to last for generations. The flagship store in Soho is a design-lover's dream, with multiple floors showcasing a wide variety of furniture pieces, lighting, and home accessories. Each item in the store is carefully curated and beautifully displayed, making it easy to visualize how the pieces would look in a home setting. In addition to its own furniture line, BDDW also carries other designer brands, providing customers with a comprehensive selection of high-end home furnishings.Fun fact: BDDW's founder, Tyler Hays, is not only a furniture designer but also a skilled woodworker and artist. In addition to furniture, he creates sculpture and installations using a variety of materials, including wood, metal, and glass. Hays' work has been featured in galleries and museums around the world, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

The absolute worst over-priced furniture buying experience I've had in NYC. You pay a premium price for custom furniture and finishes that can be found at a much lower price at a multitude of other vendors in NYC. And there's none of the BS attitude of the BDDW salespeople and ownership (he's an a**hole, trust me). If buying premium furniture look elsewhere. Brooklyn and greater New York has some of the finest craftspeople in the country. Avoid BDDW's poor service and BS.

Tyler and all the BDDW team produce the most spectacular products consistently and always both beautiful and superbly crafted. We have specified and purchased everything from the Lake Credenza, tripod lamp, leather dressers, custom sofas and dozens of ceramics over 20+ years....and every single purchase has been a pleasure. BDDW is "tomorrows antiques" and Tyler should be inducted in Cleveland! DH

Beautiful furniture designed by a disgusting human. It's hard to separate the artist as an individual from their work and what they create; and at times I find myself able to overcome a personality in favor of the inspiration they created. Not so with BDDW and Tyler Hays. At the end of the day you're paying for an overpriced brand that knocked off other artisans, while financing a racist egomaniac.

Tyler's showroom is a museum. The quality of craftsmanship of all pieces displayed are astonishing. It's such a fun and comfortable showroom to visit. Living nearby, I stopped in on a recent, cold Friday evening while a group of design students were visiting with their teacher as part of a classroom field trip. It's an inspirational space, even if affordability is not in question. It's truly a must visit for any design & art enthusiast...or just any human that aspires to having really lovely, hand-crafted items in the home. Don't be intimidated by the "cool" factor (it is cool...no question), or the prices. Just enjoy and talk to the kind folks in the showroom, too. Lots to see, learn and love.

A few weeks after posting this review, another Yelper sent me a private message that he and his wife, who is Jamaican, had a nearly identical experience at BDDW. He noted that they were made to feel so unwelcome, they just left the store after a few minutes. He attributed it to a top-down culture from the company owner, Tyler. I wanted to share this because people have a lot of choice about where/how they spend their money, and this kind of passive racism speaks volumes in the times we are living in. This behavior is very troubling, and also hurtful to me. I encourage others to think about what you're supporting when you spend your money here.

BDDW always takes an interesting twist on the current state of contemporary design. The furniture and lighting designs exhibit novelty and are yet strangely familiar.
