I didn't get a lot just because I wasn't looking for a lot, but this place had anything you wanted. Some of the items, the criterions, could've been cheaper, but for the most part the value was very good and that's rare to find in New York. I got Watchmen for $5 in almost mint condition. In Knoxville that would set me back 20 at least

when selling it should be called ripoff. will never sell anything again to that store. sell one on eBay and make more money then selling 50 DVDs. New York store. not so good anymore.

Friday 2pm Passed right by Bookoff and didn't realize it had used books. From the store front it looks like a gaming store and why we didn't look up and see the store name...I don't know. It was raining. Looking on Yelp and the address led us right here, not far from our hotel. When we're out of town we always enjoy finding used book stores and also, the book I brought to read on vacation is almost to the end. My husband enjoyed looking downstairs at the action figures and games. I went right upstairs to the red $1 signs. It didn't take long for me to find a book. So many great books! Headed downstairs to the kids books. Many of them not $1. *sigh I found a super cute hardback book for $5.50. 4/5 stars because bags are 30 cents and not many kids books for $1

A fun shop to browse! You're bound to find something to interest you. Two floors of used books and collectibles from fiction to manga, anime, gundam, graphic novels, histories, biographies, Star Wars - a little bit for everyone! Well worth a stop in for a look and a possible bargain.

To be clear, I went here looking for records. Before they remodeled they had a decent amount of cheap records which were fun to sift through and occasionally you’d find a gem. Upon its re-opening I’ve found it more of a Forbidden Comics-sort of bookstore, heavy on the anime and plastic figurine toy selection. There are still a tiny amount of records but they’re tucked away downstairs, mostly in decrepit condition, and overpriced. If you’re looking for fantasy books and collectible plastic figures it’s still a good place for that.

Amazing to see this Japanese branch thrift store over here in NYC. Great for all you fans out there with a library of English books (second floor), anime/manga/Japanese books/Used videogames/character models (first floor), and basement which has collection of American CDs. Whenever nearby at least come visit to support this store.

I want to shoutout the huge CD selection at BookOff (which has now been relocated to the basement.) The section is divided in two sections, bargain and normal (< not necessarily "new"). The bargain CDs are mostly priced at $1.50, which is amazing. While some are VERY over-priced, sometimes I don't mind paying a bit more if it means supporting such a great shop/hidden gem in Manhattan.

Bookoff is my favorite store in all of New York City. They originally lured me in when I worked on 45th street with their $1.00 books and inexpensive DVDs. Yesterday I scored a Mel Brooks "History of the World Part I." You can't get some of these rare movies online on any streaming service. That's why I like DVDs since you don't have to rely on Internet service. Staff is also very friendly. 45th street in midtown is super convenient.

Very impressive store, especially the downstairs which features a HUGE manga collection. Very good deals there.I found some of the prices upstairs a bit high, like a $90 Paradise Kiss DVD, but maybe the store just reflects market value.

In town for the day looking for hobby spots. Of all the ones in walking distance of Grand Central this is my go to spot! Something for everyone when it comes to nerdy collections. Of course there are lots of books and DVDs as well. Prices were fair and affordable. For DVDs they knew what they were selling so I didn't find any crazy deals but still fun to look through.

This used to be a favorite store of mine. Very recently they moved their DVD, CD and vinyl sections to the basement, where they are wildly overpriced. But what's really gone sour in a big way is their buying policy. I recently lugged in nearly 50 DVDs. Most were classic films; some were still unopened, and there were even a few big sets. What did they offer me? The grand sum of $18.I won't be returning.
