The car receival process was simple and straitforward.The only inconvenience was the fact that it took more than 30 minutes starting from the moment I arrived to the 142 E 31st St New York Budget office until I got the car. Most of the waiting time was for the agent to bring the car from the garage to the front of the office.

Worst service and place ever. How can a rental car be just open til 3pm? Are you kidding me? Besides terrible location the people working at this garage are extremely rude.I lost all my plan due to this place; was suppose to drive to an important meeting out of town and because this Budged lost it all.AVOID this rat hole!!!

I had reserved a car at JFK when I arrived in NY. Because my flight was delayed by 90 minutes the budget office at the airport was closed so I wasn’t able to get the car. I called Budget the next morning, gave them my confirmation number and asked to get the same type of car in Manhattan. The price they quoted was almost double what I was paying for it had I gotten it at JFK. So I went to the car-rental website and found a car with Budget at a garage in Manhattan at a reasonable price. It was the perfect car for us!

The Rava 4 we thought we were getting wasn't available SO we got the Honda CRV which we were more than pleased with.There were a few scratches and chips when we picked it up but were given a slip with all the faults pointed out. It was a lovely drive and very roomy.Picking the car up and dropping the car off in a different location was very convenient and easy to do,I would definately recommend Budget and would be happy to hire from them again. The price was reasonable too.

Customer service could clearly be better. And watch for late returns on one day rentals, you will get charged for a whole another day. A heads up would’ve been nice, rather than making it sound like the customer is out of their mind.

This was the worst car rental experience I have ever had. I was in New York City and had rented an SUV. I called the local office all day to tell them I would be a few hours late, but since I had paid in full in advance, it should not have been a problem. But they never answered the phone. I called about 10 times and it went straight to voicemail, never even identifying that it was a Budget Rent-A-Car. So I called the national office and they told me that my car should be there when I arrive, but they had no way of contacting the local office. How can that be? I have never heard of such a thing. It gets better.They arrived. I was told that my car had been given away and the only thing they had in NEW YORK CITY!!! for me to drive with a 12 SEAT PASSENGER VAB. I'm not joking.Then, they told me that someone had just returned a very large pick up truck at another location, and they could get that to me in about an hour. So I waited. They sent me outside to get my pick up truck, and to my surprise, it was an SUV, the car I ordered. How could they not know this? I've never experienced anything so disorganized in my life, and yet at the end, I did get the right car. But not before going through quite a bit of stress. And they did like me to refill the tank, so that was nice.

Horrible experience. I reserved a Premium berlina and the car that I got was a Toyota Corolla Cross, not a premium berlina. In addition, I booked Wifi in the car and the WiFi was not available. But the worst point was that the car was very dirty externaly and mainly internally. The interior of the car was in a horrible status, not ready to be rented. The treatment I received in the two Budget offices in Manhattan that I had to visit was horrible. I spent two hours trying to get a decent car without success. I Will never back to Budget and I Will recommend the same to family and friends.

I have a corporate account with Budget and Hertz. I not only get better service at Hertz, but their corporate pricing and deals are better as well

I was worried by those reviews. However, I had extremely wonderful experience this morning. I made reservation on Sunday morning during summer vacation. I finish all the paper work and got my car in 15 mins. The car was clean and the staff was so patient and nice. I believe everything is going to recover after COVID-19. This budget garage deserved a five star review.

Lots of reasons why the score is so low. First off: we were not informed that the pickup office in Manhattan was shut down and moved to another location, second: the panorama roof wasn't properly closed so the first downpour of rain made everyone inside wet, I complained about this to Budget via Twitter DM; the response took almost four days. Overall no good customer service, dropoff in JFK was poor. No ground staff or barely none to return vehicle too and those that were there were impolite. Just not a good experience.

We booked a rental car including a child safety seat. First, they gave us a car way smaller than the one we originally booked. Only upon request we got the car we booked.Moreover, they didn’t have the previously booked child safety seat available, so we were told to go to another Car Rental station to pick it up. In the end we had to go to a third station to finally get our child safety seat.Staff was not very friendly and service oriented. And the car we got was not very clean on the inside.

If I could give 0 I would, this place is scammy and not at all customer-centric or caring for their clients at all. They have requirements which are not listed when you book, then when you reach to get the car the rules materialize out of nowhere and your day / plans are ruined. If I had known I didn’t qualify I’d simply not have gone! Instead they leave the onus on the poor representative, who I guess has to do this multiple times a day. He even had a little sheet ready for “why you can’t rent today”. This company should just be transparent but they’re not, they are yet another skeezy scammy business in Manhattan. I sat with my luggage in this car rental place for hours after this trying to figure out how I was getting home, it was really stressful and again - I’d not have even gone there had this company been transparent about their policy when I booked online.

OMG! The worse service that you can ever imagine. Office is open from 7am to 3pm! Wrong they go on break (while the 2 people are supposed to rotate), close the office and refuse to give the car, simply telling people to come back later!Budget customer support on the phone couldnt believe it either!

E9th street called yesterday to say they were closed due to building issues, and to go to E31st today.Upom arrival, they had no cars there and no info. We had to cancel our plans.Budget refunded the cost but made no effort to offer anything like a credit or discount, even when we asked.
