What a treat it was to stumble upon the Church of Sweden and its basement cafe and gift shop. It was fun to shop among all the great Swedish products and enjoy some saffron buns and Glogg. The staff were wonderfully helpful in selecting just the right gifts and food. We will return again some day to see the church that was under renovation during our visit in Nov 2023. We suggest some bigger/better signage, as it was a stroke of luck that we noticed the Swedish flag and turned down the street to see why it was there.

Starting a new Xmas tradition: went to the Church of Sweden (thank you, Ruby R. The real Mayor of NYC) for the first time.Red & white tablecloths on long table (they have a cafe and Christmas store in the basement); the smell of cookies baking; bookcases full of merchandise…the second the elevator doors open, I was slapped by holiday cheer.Hope you make your way there.

A Swedish friend took me here for a quick coffee break. Downstairs there is a tiny cage where they have coffee and tea and a bunch of Swedish treats (you do have to pay, I don't want to imply that it is gratis!) We enjoyed some parties and drinks and the quiet location to sit and chat.I'm not sure that it's really open to the non-Swedish public, but I felt very welcome.A quiet little reprieve from the city!

Had a lovely time at the church of Sweden, great food and coffee and a wonderful ambiance. I would heavily recommend it to anyone looking for somewhere a little off the beaten path. For those more interested in popular tourist attractions, it’s right by the Rockefeller center, st Patrick’s cathedral, and the mueseum of modern art. Great place to grab breakfast before a full day of sightseeing.

Fantastic place. Everyone is super friendly. They have authentic Swedish cinnamon rolls, candy, and other Swedish food items. Highly recommend anyone who is Swedish or a fan of Sweden to stop by here.

A treasure of the highest order. A longtime wish to visit. I went on a Thursday and was enchanted.Like Streetcha this basement' cafe is soooo so special and the pastries made in the kitchen in back. I watched them roll the Doug.Ate:Cinnamon bunHot chocolate $8I also bought two bags of chocolate for $3 each. The bun was warm and delicious and while the hot chocolate was a tad light for my taste the experience warmed me through and though anc I would guess their coffee is banging.
