We had a very time-sensitive situation re: one of our accounts, and I literally spent hours today attempting to call the various bankers at multiple Citibanks in Manhattan with whom I've ever had contact over the years. I called each of them several times and none of them ever answered, plus I left a few voicemails and no one ever called me back. Finally I decided to start calling the branches which I'd never previously visited, and I began with this one. An incredibly friendly and helpful person answered the phone, and fortunately he was able to (promptly) resolve the situation. This branch is very fortunate to have such a terrific person working there and I'm very thankful.

It is a real mix at this place. There is one teller (newish) who is the better one, hence 2 stars. The older tellers - most have an attitude before you even start to speak. They are outright rude, curt, and dismissive of your questions. A few days ago, one refused to answer a question and mind you, this is a very quiet bank! So, is that impertinence really necessary for the small town kind of area this bank is in (at least during the day when the bank is open) or is there another agenda?

Without any notice they switched my IRA account to a broker in another branch who never answers his telephone! As a matter of fact it's almost impossible to get through by fone to the branch itself. At my age of 77 years i must walk out in winter weather to the branch, which is on the other side of town from my home, in order to communicate with them.

Came here today on my way to the park. I almost forgot they had a branch with tellers here because maps brings it up as an atm and not a bank. Luckily i was here before and was able to get a teller.

When they're not destroying the economy with bad loans, Citibank seems to be busy lying to its customers. Here's the story: I was suddenly cash flush when a friend felt guilty and paid a long-ago debt. Yahooo! I can pay down some credit cards. I went to Chase, gave 'em my credit card and $200 in cash. They rang it through and gave me the receipt. I went to Capital One, gave 'em my credit card and $200 in cash. They rang it through and gave me a receipt. Then I went to this branch of Citibank. "Sorry," the teller says, "Federal regulations say that if I take cash from you and you don't have another account here I need two forms of ID and your social security number." "That's not true," I tell the teller, "I just paid other credit cards without ID." Whoops, story change: "It's bank policy," he says, forgetting all that "Federal Regulations" stuff. "But you can pay in an ATM machine." "You need ID for bank policy," I repeat back, "But the ATM doesn't require ID... all it needs is my credit card?" He nods. Several years ago, I quit Citibank because of their fees and other charges. I kept a credit card. That, as it turns out, was a mistake.

It's rare to feel motivated to jump on yelp after visiting what's mostly a commoditized place of business but the people at Citi on w 3 and LaGuardia were so dang pleasant this morning I thought they deserved some extra love back. Thanks for making the mundane an awesome experience. I'll be upping my own game today for sure.
