They have attitudes and tend to say they can’t do anything while it’s not true. I successfully deposited same checks in another nearby branch and came back here to tell them that. After they learned another branch just deposited it without questions, they finally said they can do the same. It’s just there might be a possibility that the checks will be returned later. This is annoying. If after all the only concern is my checks may be returned later, why didn’t you make it clear earlier? I can take that little risk, it should not be your judgement to directly tell me you can’t deposit it. I asked the gov to reissue those tax refund checks and it’s not easy to get this done. Btw they literally did it for without questions months ago but they forgot how they can do that before. A very frustrating experience.

You would expect a Citibank branch right by Rockefeller Center to have great staff but steer clear of this one. I’ve been banking with Citi for 10 years now and this was the first time I’ve encountered this. I had to do a transfer from one of my accounts that had a block because of check fraud and upon arriving, this lady named Mercedes, told me straightaway that she couldn’t do anything and asked me to call Citibank’s customer service to ask them to lift the block. I told her that I was able to make transfers of the same kind twice previously with this blocked account at different Citibank branches (Washington Heights and 72nd St) without having to call and that the bank took care of that somehow. I would gladly do this over the phone myself but I showed up there because customer service said with transfers of this kind, I had to do it in person. She really wouldn’t budge so I had to call customer service at the branch and was asked by the fraud agent why it wasn’t the bank calling. The agent said she shouldn’t have asked me to call and that it was the bank’s job to do that. I then had to put the fraud agent on speaker phone and she was super rude and snapping at the agent as well. The fraud agent asked her how she verified my identity and turns out she didn’t even verify me. At one point, the fraud agent mentioned the process was taking way longer than usual so I suggested that she ask her manager for help but she wouldn’t. When the transfer was completed, she told me everything was good and bid me goodbye without giving me the standard confirmation slip. I had to ask her for it and she then printed it out and had me sign it. I had a terrible experience at this branch and just don’t want y’all to experience the same thing I went through.

why is this citibank branch on 48th st and 1st ave steps from the united nations and the fdr always crowded especially the atm area , i don't have a clue but maybe the diplomats all do their banking at the same time . nothing stands out at this particular citibank but i did get the manager to help me with a returned check fee that was the banks fault and he was able to waive the fee after some computer look up which he did quickly . folks who live on 1st ave and near 2nd ave don't have to go far to do their local citibank business compared to the location a few blocks away on 3rd ave and farther .

I never do ratings on places but I will for this. I'm an Australian visiting from overseas and wanted to exchange quarters for notes. I didn't know they had to be 'rolled', which I was rudely told by staff. I then went to a counter and put all my quarters into a roll, when I went back I was made to tip them all out again, count again and told rudely I wasn't doing it right. She treated me horribly, I obviously had no idea what I was doing, which I also expressed several times. There was no reason to treat me so horribly, I understand coin counting must be annoying but it's part of the job. Would not suggest going here at all, the rudeness of the clerk was horrible, and I almost burst into tears before leaving. I am extremely disappointed.

This branch makes me regret banking with Citibank every time I have to stop. Y to make a deposit or go a simple transaction. Rude tellers who won't do a simple step as scanning checks for deposits. I had not had a single pleasant experience at this branch in years. Lazy unaccommodating employees! I should just bite the bullet and ho to Chase!

Though not built in a palatial building like banks of old this Citi Bank does exactly what it has to do - take deposits, accept credit card payments and give withdrawals. More importantly, this branch actually exists in real life, and isn't just an app - a welcome treat for an old soul like myself. Service here is fast, efficient and friendly - I'm always greeted with a smile and a hello. More importantly, the lines here are not terrible, a great benefit for when I'm trying to get my banking done on my limited lunch hour.

Terrible customer service. Very high staff turnover - last visit was especially bad. Christopher takes his customers for granted, is very rude, and was unhelpful. Asked to remove a very old closed account from online homepage and received a lecture instead. By far the worst branch I've been to. They've also misplaced an account - savings and checkings split between two "households' resulting in more than a hundred in fees they refused to refund. Also mis-typed the amount on a transfer between accounts, taking out more than they put into the receiving account.
