This is one of my favorite stops in NYC! Items are on the pricey side, but I love every piece I've purchased here over the years. Definitely a must stop every time I'm in NYC.

Stumbled upon this shop as I was gallery hopping - what a great find! Prices were great and if I lived in the City I would be shopping here regularly for art and furniture. Will be back on my next trip to NYC!

My favorite thrift shop. Friendly peeps working there. Inexpensive yet high quality clothes. A bit of a pain in the tuchas walking to the location. But that's a first world problem I can easily overlook.

Went there for the first time today and was amazed at the selection of high-end women's clothes at reasonable prices. It's the holiday season and there were beautiful, festive tops, jackets, and dresses for New Years Eve parties. Downstairs, the furniture was superior to what is found in the usual thrift store. I highly recommend this place.

When walking down any street of the city, if I stumble upon any thrift store, you know I’m going inside. I’m so glad I went inside this one! The selection was top tier for me, everything from home furnishings to vintage glassware, coats, cowboy boots, and those fedora hats were rather impressive! The value for most of the things there were definitely adequate as I left, purchasing a molehair red vintage coat for about $150. They had everything from Coogi sweaters to military style and fireman coats. Service was average as the workers were able to answer questions and it seemed like they interacted only if you interacted with them. The cashier was using her phone behind the register until we were ready to ring up our purchases. I guess that would be OK in a no pressure to go out of your way atmosphere, but to me, it felt kind of standoffish. Besides that I could’ve stayed in this store for hours and buy everything inside if I had the money to do that. Go here!

The place is very nice and tidy also the prices are very reasonable especially the furniture but the only thing that I would like this store to improve will be the customer service well I just encountered one employee(A young man with dark hair) he did his job well but he was friendly at all actually he didn't say a single word when I was waiting at the check out, not a thank you, not even a hello when people entered. Well maybe he had a bad day and hopefully he will improve because that makes your shopping experience much better.

Absolutely fabulous thrift shop. I wish I lived close, I would visit every week. Wonderful furniture and particularly good deals in the basement.

Would absolutely recommend City Opera Thrift for Furniture Donations. Fern, Laine and the whole crew were nothing but professional and helpful in making what could be a stressful endeavor, smooth and painless. Many thanks to City Opera Thrift!

Had a great experience with them taking some furniture for donation.Fern turned around the pickup within a couple days of me offering the stuff to them (thanks to someone else canceling), including getting the certificate of insurance that my building needed. Pretty sure they can't usually make a pickup happen that quickly, but she did this time. And the pickup guys, Danny and Dennis, were very friendly and professional, and got the stuff out real quick.

I think one star is too much for this horrible group. I called them today because I was worried they were working with a Chinese company called CIREA. They could not explain to me why they would accept anything from this company. They were rude and unpleasant. They did not care whether I was a donor of the NYC Opera or not. They claim in their ads that they do not sell junk, well they do for a profit. Amazon has us Americans return junk from China TO THE NEW YORK CITY OPERA THRIFT SHOP. What a disgrace!

This may be the best thrift shop that I've been to in NYC. Yes, it is not cheap, but they have an AMAZING selection. Every item is very clean, too. I kind of don't want people to find this place so I can get the best items for myself lol

Agree that this thrift shop is extremely clean and feels more like an upscale boutique. The sales staff was friendly, efficient, and generally awesome. What I think I didn't understand from the reviews here, and which I would have liked to have known, is that this was aimed toward a particular style, more like a "boho / world" vibe, that includes everything from traditional kimonos and handmade S. American clothes to artisan crafted leather bags. As such, if you are used to finding a lot of variety in styles, you'll be somewhat disappointed. There is a lot of large print florals, bright colors, leather bags, handmade bric-a-brac from around the world. It's not necessarily my vibe, but I still found a few pieces I liked. Also a head's up that most of the cooler items were either $65 or $125, which is a little eye-watering when the brands are not as well-known. There were also some boring "mall brands" mixed in there, like Ann Taylor dresses that technically fit with the vibe because they were large print, and I found those expensively priced. That said, there are cool finds to be had here. And I didn't mind paying a bit more, as everything also was in very condition, the staff was great, and as I said, the store was very clean.
