I was diagnosed with walking pneumonia today. Yesterday, my doctor called in a prescription for a generic antibiotic to the Union Square location since my symptoms suggested an infection. Today, the Union Square location had one prescription ready, but didn't have the more-important antibiotic. They told me I was "fifth in line" for the antibiotic, and gave no indication what that meant. I then asked if all the computer systems were the same and I could go to another Duane Reade location that had the medicine in stock, and they said sure, no problem. However, the tech seemed to regard this as an odd question. To my surprise, there was a Duane Reade two blocks away at 14th and 3rd. I walked over and approached the pharmacy techs asking about the antibiotic. The first tech I spoke with seemed surprised as to why I would travel to get medicine, reminding me that this was not my primary pharmacy. However, they told me they could fill it and that I could sit in the tightly arranged waiting area next to all the feeble old women waiting for Covid vaccines. While waiting, I received a call from my doctor informing me that x-rays indicated that I had pneumonia and that he had sent over a script for a more powerful antibiotic. When I was called up to receive the original antibiotic, I told the pharmacy techs the news, and they were like, nothing yet, this process takes some time, you need to wait. I say, sure, I'll go get some pizza across the street, see you soon.I return about 35 minutes later, wait in line for a while, then ask again. They tell me that this isn't my primary pharmacy. I explain that I'm sick, was cast onto the street at my primary pharmacy, and am willing to wait. I then ask the tech just to confirm that the more powerful antibiotic is *in stock* and that it is worth waiting for. She says "no" several times, not understanding my question, but eventually I cajole her to ask the pharmacist, who says yes it's in stock, we just need the script. They tell me to call my doctor.I call my doctor's after-hours support line which provides no support but helps me kill eleven minutes. The old women in the waiting area have now gathered that I'm really sick and begin moving their seats away from me. I then set up whatever web app is required to see my prescriptions, and I can see what the doctor mentioned to me. I get in line again. One tech notices me and says that there's still nothing, but the other tech tells me to wait and that she'll take care of it.Once finished waiting in line, I provide my identifying information just to be told again that this is not my primary pharmacy (they all have the same system, so why does this matter?). I explain why I came to this pharmacy. I hold up my phone showing the medicine in my patient portal. She tells me that she only sees "two scripts called in today," an inhaler and the earlier antibiotic. I say, no, those weren't called in today, but I picked them up today. She then tells me that the screen I am showing her is of the wrong antibiotic, the antibiotic that I already received. I correct her and say, no, that's the one above it, and I scroll up. After having been corrected twice, she loses composure and starts cutting me off and yelling "We don't have it! Call your doctor! Call your doctor to resend it!"Meanwhile, I'm coughing after every other sentence and speaking with the same cadence and volume of the old ladies waiting for their vaccines. I say, so, if it's not in your system, there's no way it'll be in the system over at Union Square, right? Same system? She cuts me off and continues yelling "Call your doctor! [at 6:30pm, after I had already called the after hours support number]I then say, okay, I will go home, just confirming that after waiting for more than an hour your opinion is that my doctor did not properly call it again? She walks away while continuing to yell about calling my doctor.I arrive at the Union Square location about five minutes later

This is only a review for the personnel, since we went there strictly for the purpose of getting the newest covid vaccine. The woman who gave us the injections was *exceptionally* friendly and nice, so we had a very enjoyable conversation with her. The woman who checked us in at the pharmacy counter (which took awhile, but all the "red tape" certainly wasn't her fault) was also friendly and she had a good sense of humor. The security guard was also friendly - and when I complimented the manager before leaving the store, she was pleasant. It's a rather small store, but meanwhile it's in a very convenient location re: transit options.

This is a barely functioning enterprise. Not a real pharmacy; it closes early and is closed on random non holiday weekdays. This place is mismanaged, obviously. People that work here are always beleaguered. When my doc calls a prescription here by mistake, I get upset because I won't get the meds. What a miserable place. Kinda wish the peep show would come back.

i wish i could give NO RATING FOR NO SERVICE. i spent 45 ON HOLD waiting for someone, anyone from their staff to answer the phone but all they do is put you immediately back on hold. this is the second night in a row. i went in person and there's no shortage of staff, no overwhelming lines or volume. just lazy personnel. terribly run store and TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT AND CUSTOMER SERVICE.

They had the door open and then complained when we walked into the store. The staff was very and acted like it's our fault for walking into what is supposed to be a 24 hour store? But the front door was wide open

Extremely rude staff, refusing to answer the simplest of questions while ignoring everyone waiting. YOU ARE NOT A PRIORITY HERE. GO ELSEWHERE

THE WORST customer service of any store I have ever visited. Tried to file complaint with manager...he just shrugs his shoulders. 5 drug stores within walking distance. Will NEVER go back.

Wow. Never have I ever been racially profiled in New York City, especially at my neighborhood Duane Reade. I was finding a nail polish in the cosmetics section deciding between different nail polishes to buy. I heard the 'assistance needed in cosmetic aisle' come over the loud speaker, but that happens often when I come in either by myself or with other people when I'm in the cosmetic aisle. When the cosmetic associate decided to come down the aisle which I had no problem with of course I assumed she was doing her job but what persisted afterwards was uncalled for. She persisted to stand at the end of the aisle and watch me as I picked out a nail polish. Granted it took me a few minutes because I was deciding between colors. She was staring at me for a very extended period of time when I asked "Is there a reason you are watching me?" She responded saying "I'm the cosmetic associate, I'm watching my aisle". Keep in mind there was no one else in the aisle but me and she did not ask me if I needed any help or assistance. I got my nail polish and walked to the front to pay. The cosmetic associate continued to follow me and stay next to the registers while I paid still watching the aisle but also watching me. She continued to stand there and watch me as I left the store. I was so upset I couldn't talk to the manager in person but called once I was home about 15 minutes later. He was apologetic, but honestly no one should be hired to work at a store if they are going to follow certain customers around and make them feel uncomfortable when they are purchasing anything. The cosmetic associate was black and I am as well but I think this largely had to do with my race. This is ridiculous and dissapointing especially since I live 15 minutes away and shop at this duane reade at least biweekly.

Extremely rude cashier just now. I asked why they keep Red Bull warm behind the counter, and not in a cooler. Her attitude and response was obnoxious. Horrible customer service.

The actual pharmacist that works there is a pretty nice lady! She notified me of programs that helped me lower my co-pay to nothing.
