I've been a member on-and-off since 2004 (when it was the Reebok Club) and a member of various gyms (including other equinox clubs) since I was a teenager. I have NEVER seen filth or mismanagement on the level I've seen since rejoining the Sports Club in 2023.The locker rooms are filthy and unstaffed. Previously there was always one person upstairs and another 2 downstairs during busy hours. Now maybe there is one person for 3 floors. There are always dirty towels everywhere. On one occasion, a dirty pair of underwear was on the floor for at least an hour, another a large, dead cockroach lying by the jacuzzi. The hairdryers are so weak they couldn't blow out a candle. Several hairdryers have been "out-of-service" for months as has at least one shower. Then, there was the day TWO MONTHS ago when I opened a shower door to discover dirty takeout containers, utensils and towels in the stall. The same day dirty, wet towels were also all around the locker, steam room and sauna. I complained to the front desk and in writing to management. Still waiting to hear back.I've emailed the GM multiple times with NO response other than a AGM thanking me for "policing the locker room since he can't". Wait, they have no female employees able to enter the locker room to see it's filthy and lacking towels??? Are they unaware that they have nobody staffing the locker rooms. There are also frequently people in the spa area who are clearly not members (you can tell because they have all their belongings including their purses and phones nearby and sleep on the lounge chairs). This in addition to people talking on speakerphone in the locker room. Of course there are no attendants to tell them that phones are a no-no in the locker room and spa.The club's hours were so truncated Thanksgiving weekend that it was impossible to get to the gym for a workout. This was unlike every other gym in the city that had holiday hours on Thanksgiving and normal ones the rest of the weekend. When I arrived, the locker room was filthy, there were no towels, dirty/wet towels were everywhere including the steam room, sauna, benches in locker room. The lifeguard (is he even a certified lifeguard?) was unaware that since the club closed at 4, the pool would be closed a half hour earlier and offered me a lane reservation at 3:30 (when the pool would be closed). I gave up and went home since without towels, I couldn't even take a shower. If this were a one-time issue, I'd be upset, but it's ongoing. I rejoined because I had fond memories of the well-kept facility, loved the classes and instructors and was able to swim. That is a distant memory. Now there are significantly fewer classes, they aren't consistent (no more same class, same instructor 2 or 3x/week at the same time) and none in the afternoon (in ye olde days there was at least a mid-afternoon yoga class). The classes aren't very good and don't create the community that I enjoyed previously as a member. The few that are worth taking fill up within 2 minutes of opening in the app. When I told an instructor that I was just getting back in shape after an illness and asked if I needed a mat, she nastily replied "only if you need it for emotional support." Another class had truly awful sped-up muzak. When I asked about it, the instructor said she doesn't listen to it, only picks out playlists that have the right beat.A terrible experience. Wildly expensive ($350/month). Total ripoff.

This Equinox certainly has a massive footprint, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's a good thing. The weightlifting equipment layout is not ideal, requiring you to continuously move between floors for the equipment. The working area is top notch.

Best gym in NYC! Went in high school and restarted my membership after graduating college. The workout classes are amazing, the amenities feel like a pocket of peace in the busy city and the staff are the friendliest and kindest people around. I moved cross town last month and I still make the trip to this club because there is truly nothing else like it.

Wonderful Lifestyle Fitness Club with Everything you could imagine to suit your needs: Multi-Level club which includes its own workspace and a couple private remote working/study spaces, a deli/smoothie bar, and large lounge area - Pool, Sauna, Steamroom and separate mens/women's spa/jacuzzi hot tub. Amazing Staff and excellent location: Central Midtown Manhattan offers incredible connivence; Outdoor running track with Excellent city views; breathtaking scenery. Staff is always awesome - everyone is friendly and accommodating. Clean locker rooms and equipment is always in working order; space is so large that it hardly becomes crowded. If you see fitness as a lifestyle and primary focus, the luxury and amenities offered here are worth the expense - being a Destination Member at Equinox with the ability to use the high-class facilities offered in some of the world's greatest cities is truly a joy; I always leave Equinox feeling incredible and eager to return! The Sports Club New York location is an absolute must-try; Day passes are available for a fee but I highly recommend the Destination Membership, especially for those who work and travel frequently to cities where Equinox resides; Los Angeles to New York, Chicago to London - making fitness a priority is easy at Equinox.

Regret joining. signed up with my spouse equinox promised $100 pp incentive if we visit 8 time in the first month.. they never paid!raised to concierge - they just said check your account. $150 referral fee for my spouse never came through either. “It was not noted on my account. My wife had to send another email to confirm it. Not what I expect for an executive member service. At membership advice was greeted with “what’s wrong” and not in a nice or pleasant tone..Received promotional text addresses to someone else (they forgot to swap in my name)..Neither of these are a huge deal, but it shows lack of professionalism at the club. It’s laughable..Under the rubber floor cover on the 3rd training floor there are holes/deep unevennesses.. those are not identified in anyway.. so, watch out !

A Critical Review of Equinox: Unprofessional Management and Inconsistencies in Access PrivilegesThis detailed review aims to critically evaluate the management practices at Equinox, focusing on my highly dissatisfying experience that led to a significant downgrade from a 5-star rating to a mere 2 star. The primary source of disappointment lies in the unprofessional conduct displayed by the management, particularly by Amber, a manager at Equinox. Additionally, inconsistencies surrounding access privileges, highlighted by the contrasting statements of Sherry and Amber, have contributed to my frustration. This review intends to effectively convey my concerns while maintaining a professional tone.My negative experience with Equinox revolves around issues with unprofessional management, specifically exemplified by the actions of Amber, a manager at the gym. Their dissatisfaction stems from a series of incidents that culminated in a significant downgrade from a 5-star rating to just 2 star.Initially, my mom and her husband were attracted to Equinox by a promising deal offered during the COVID-19 pandemic. They were assured that this membership would grant them access to destination after Equinox had exited out of gympass. However, problems arose when my mother called with her husband and requested personal training services from Keston, a trainer recommended by me. Contrary to previous assurances, they were informed that access to these services was restricted due to the absence of destination privileges. This inconsistency in communication regarding access privileges caused confusion and dissatisfaction within the family.Furthermore, during the enrollment process, I encountered additional inconsistencies. Sherry, a representative of Equinox, explicitly stated that I would not be eligible for the same deal as my mom and her husband because it was special detail they got after Equinox destination left the gym pass which they had, emphasizing the family's possession of destination access - as I had to pay more money then my mother and Sherry could not do anything to help. Fair , I paid more and did not get this deal, but my mother was promised it. This statement contradicted Amber's assertion that the reviewer's mother did not have destination access. Such contradictions erode confidence in Equinox's management and their commitment to transparent and equitable service. The situation escalated when my mom and her husband's access to the gym was suddenly blocked after a phone call requesting personal training services. When the reviewer's mother visited the gym to sign up for training, she faced extremely unprofessional treatment from Amber. Amber's lack of preparedness and disregard for customer satisfaction were deeply concerning and not in line with the professionalism expected from a manager.Additionally, it is crucial to address the aggressive behavior displayed by Amber, which further compounded the negative experience. Instead of actively listening to the customer's concerns, Amber repeatedly interrupted and disregarded both my and my mothers input and wouldn't let her finish a thought. This disrespectful approach not only escalated the situation but also left my mother, Regina, in tears. I had to step in to try to explain to him everything. Such unprofessional conduct is deeply concerning. As a result of this negative experience, my mother has decided to escalate their concerns to Equinox's corporate management. Additionally, my sister, mother, and mother's husband have already canceled their memberships, with my planning to do the same at the end of the year. I firmly believe that paying a premium price should not entail being treated disrespectfully by management. I am now seeking a fitness club for next year that upholds principles of integrity, professionalism, and prioritizes positive customer experiences.I tacked on an extra star because they keep their sauna at 180F + it's super nice and it's always really clean, the gym as well. The custodians do a gr

Rude staff at all levels! From the person that is at the front desk, sales representatives and management. I tried to get a day pass to see if I should switch my membership to this location since I’m unhappy paying $285 for the 76th street location (not worth my money). The didn’t want to provide me with a day pass even though I am already an equinox member and it’s on their best interest if I decide to change and pay the extra $50. No one was helpful and they were just rude and entitled like they are doing me a favor when we pay for the membership quite a lot for what these gyms are worth. Equinox overall used to have a better reputation, it seems now customer service is worst than if you were paying for Blink or Planet Fitness. After reading other reviews I see I’m not the only one complaining about their customer service. I wouldn’t recommend this place. I hope EQUINOX can train all their staff at all levels because we don’t pay for such an awful customer service and just lack of empathy with people.

This gym has gone seriously downhill recently, to the point it’s pretty unusable on weekends. It’s FAR too crowded on weekends, you can’t move on the floor, every piece of equipment is taken and the trainers themselves are reserving 2-3 at a time for supersets with their clients. When it’s this crowded the facilities suffer significantly as well. The past 6 weekends in a row there were no towels in the locker room when I arrived and when I left. No toilet paper in the stalls. No wipes to clean the machines on top of this location cutting the amount of wipe stations in half at each workout area. The entire equinox brand is quickly becoming a NYSC experience but for 3x the price.

I signed up less than a month ago and already know I will not renew my membership. This gym wasn’t what I had hoped for.The facility is really large and spacious which I really appreciate but they miss the mark in a few categories.1) The machines are a little old and there are very few machines people want. For example: They have 1 smith machine in the entire gym which is not enough.2) Staff are rude and scold you for rules nobody made you aware of when you signed up.3) The complimentary Pilates class is not 55 mins. It was more like 40 mins because they “save room at the end for questions”For the price of this membership it’s not worth it at all.

I love having the full suite of features here, but this location is not as well-kept as other equinox locations. For those who don't know, this is a mega club. It is 6 stories-massive. Some notable features include the indoor saltwater pool, hot tubs, steam room, dry sauna, rooftop terrace, basketball course, rock-climbing wall, massive locker rooms with vanities, and a massive lounge where you can hang out and do work.I love coming here on the weekends and spending an entire morning or afternoon since there is so much to do.The only weakness of this location is that the locker room/showers are not cleaned as frequently as some of the other locations.Overall, this is absolutely a workout junkie's paradise. You can even spend all day in the gym if that's your thing. Not as well maintained as my equinox, but still above average compared to other gyms.

You get 2 guest passes per year, not per month which is the most disappointing aspect of paying over $300 per month for a membership. Was asked to use the guest passes to show my family around who are visiting from India (we were not even planning on using the gym). The person at the front desk asked me to use the guest passes to show them around. Upon asking where this policy was written that I am supposed to use guest passes to even show friends/family around, the response I received was ‘it’s been a policy ever since Equinox came into existence’. Highly disappointing and embarrassing interaction.

False advertisement example: gym closes at 11 but you have to stop working out at 10:45. For that remaining 15 min you are just paying for overpriced shelter and poor attitude from staff.
