If you haven't had a history with Fairway, you won't understand how downhill they've gone. It's been my go to store for 20 years but that's quickly changing. Yes, there is still a good selection. however, prepped foods are just ok because it's all been outsourced. The store is dirty and the employees are mostly "calling it in". If there is any management, it is haphazard and has no interest (or knowledge) in maintaining the level of quality the biz upheld before it was sold. Classic story: Privately owned business declines after selling to a corporation. My days as a regular customer are over. Older.

Fairway has changed for the worse. I'm judging my opinion on the quality of the poultry, meat, and overall prices. Before Fairway was sold, I always purchased Murray's chicken breasts and thighs. Now, when I look to buy the breasts, a pack of three halves is $18. There is no way chicken should cost that much. So, now I buy Murray's thighs because they are a little cheaper. The date is current on the pack but when eating, they taste very, very old. Or, they taste like the store-brand chicken and very old. They are now selling chicken bones. I see so many senior citizens mulling over these breastbones because they still have some meat on them and are more affordable that the actual chicken pieces. Yes, people buy them to make stock but I can tell these women (especially women) are trying to stretch their money. The quality and pricing of the poultry is just wrong. The meats are astronomical in price. And, why are the packages of Italian sausages so expensive? Sadly, after Westside Market left the UWS, Fairway (Shop Rite) is all we are left with.

the service here sucks. Very few staff members speak English so they are unable to help you find products and generally just guess an aisle inevitably wasting my time. Also, they don't pack, just scan and then leave you to pack your own products, not even starting to pack while the customer pays. I like the variety here but the customer experience could not be worse! There are also no managers visible.

My favorite grocery store in the city. When in New York I stay at 76th and Broadway so this is so close. A beautiful produce department, cheese department, all basic groceries and my favorite… the bakery. Open late this is a great place to stop off for a snack. My fave is the hamantashan and the linzar tarts. Perfect NY pastries. They also have good cookies. Join the Fairway club and there are discounts when you check out too.

Be wary of buying their seafood, I bought a tuna steak and ended up getting food poisoning. The shrimp I bought and opened smelled so foul, it definitely was no good despite having a sell by date of 11/9 which is tomorrow. I believe their refrigeration on how they handle their seafood is questionable. Usually it’s been good so please be aware when buying their seafood.

Thank you to our waiter Andy! Food was great but menu is small compared to the previous incarnation. Hopefully that will change for the better. Will come back to dinner soon.

I'm a Fairway insider, which means I enter my phone number at check out and can get sales items. It rarely works, but at least I notice when it happens. I think many people might not notice. Today, I tried to buy something on sale, and it didn't work. I was told that I had to spend a certain amount to get that particular sale. They showed me the flier. But on the website and app, that requirement was so tiny, I didn't see it. I've been shopping at Fairway for years and lament the current situation. I went instead to Trader Joe where I got the product I needed at the same price that would have been Fairway's sale price. Not only that, I enjoyed TJ's excellent customer service. Customer service and courtesy are non-existent at Fairway.

Im really glad that Fairway opened its restaurant up again. The buttermilk pancakes are sooooo good and not expensive. Also the vitamin section has a good selection if things and the guy that works there is always nice and helpful. My go to for breakfast and vitamins and organic food!

I visited this fairway this morning, bright early came here from The Bronx they've gone up on their prices. Olive oil used to be, like, $9 now it's $16 crazy. Also, the people who work in there seem to be disgruntled not friendly. No help giving misinformation. I asked Louie how much the oil cost because there was no price posted and he blew me off by saying i have to look for it NO HELP WHATSOEVER i had to walk over to checkout to ask how much UNBELIEVABLEOnly 2 people help me in the checkout. And that was Mercedes and Digna they are what customer service looks like by the way from the two are for the two ladies who helped me other than that there would be no stars!

What has happened to my former favorite grocery store on the upper west side ? The choices seem less but still plentiful and the prices seem higher !! What no fresh rye bread for slicing ? stood at the deli counter for 5 minutes without service until the employees finished their conversation !! the customer service and friendliness are lacking and noticeably different to the former pleasant employee service that I was used to and enjoyed prior to the Shop Rite takeover. I know shop rite controls New Jersey markets and actually are quite good stores but either the manager of Fairway Broadway and 74th Is lacking in leadership or the ability to stress to employees that a smile, a concern in helping customers should be their upmost responsibility. With choices like Citarella, Zabars & Trader Joe's just steps away and price points better or relatively close I'll take my business elsewhere until Fairway smiles return Highly disappointed

Oh, how we loved the Fairway Market. I'm writing this as a visitor, not a resident, so my view of the market may be different than that of someone who lives in the area and shops there regularly. We were staying nearby and stopped at Fairway every day for something: fruit and snack to take back to our hotel, drinks. We spent some time walking around, checking things out, and the variety of offerings is quite impressive. Prices seemed a bit high but I don't have another NY grocery to compare them to so maybe they are in line with other outlets. The hours were convenient for our comings and goings, the check outs were quick. Overall, a great neighborhood market.

Wide variety of deli and specialized gourmet items. Good organic selections. Nice baked goods. Very fresh produce. Fresh meat and seafood. Kitchen items. Bulk grains and other items. Great take out, perfect for a picnic in nearby Central Park! Friendly service. A NYC and neighborhood institution. Bathroom on upper level. Also, senior discount Tues. and Wed. Some budget items as well.

Fairway is a grocery store that shines when it comes to providing extremely fresh produce. Whether you're looking for organic or non-organic options, they offer a wide variety of fruits and vegetables. The abundance of mushrooms and apples, among other produce, is impressive and caters to different culinary needs. Another notable feature of Fairway is their extensive cheese selection. Cheese enthusiasts will find themselves in heaven with the diverse range of cheeses available, allowing for exploration and discovery of new flavors. However, one aspect that can be frustrating is their new app/card system for discounts. To access the discounts, you need to register online and manage your coupons through the app. Unfortunately, there have been instances when the coupons weren't properly captured at the register, leading to a complicated process to rectify the issue. This often involves multiple managers being called to manually resolve the problem, causing delays and inconvenience. Despite the coupon system drawback, Fairway remains a go-to destination for fresh produce and an impressive cheese selection. For other grocery staples like cereal and bread, you may find it more convenient to purchase them from another grocery store.

Fairway is no longer what is used to be. It has gone through several owners who have kept the name but not the service and the quality. Fairway stores (UWS and UES) have gone downhill ever since the change in ownership, with no end in sight.
