If I could leave a negative four review for the supermarket, I would. Not even taking in consideration the previous allegations of ties to the mob of the supermarket, as well as proven attempts of selling expired meat, tonight, out of desperation, I actually tried to make a purchase in the supermarket in the west village. One of the items was trying to purchase was the , seriously sharp cheddar from Çabot. The item was advertised at sale. When I went to check out it was three times the price that was advertised. I asked the checkout lady to scan a card as I have at Rite Aid Duane Reade, Kroger, and every supermarket across the nation. They said they could not and had to charge the actual price. The manager came out and criticized me for causing a scene in front of the cashier stand. The manager is clearly not trained in conflict resolution. Is there still really a need for Gristedes as a supermarket in nyc. Clearly not. Avoid this mess of a bodega if you can and ship at a reputable chain.

The produce is always old or rotten, both the fruit/vegetables…They need a new supplier. Also, relatively expensive but convenient for last minute needs

the staff is very nice all of them!!!, but for their fruits to be so expensive they are bad, I always find them to the point of damage, very ripe or moldy. They charge too much to have poor quality fruits.

Twice expensive than Whole foods for veggies, I wanted to get just simple veggies for a salad but I couldn’t let myself spend 6$ for bell pepper. Unfortunately won’t come back

The sandwiches were beyond belief packed with really good food and for the price what a deal so I started going back and having some of the dinner plates and they were something else.

Love this place. Mallory makes me the best sandwiches. Everyone in the Deli department is awesome and they work under pressure sometimes. Keep up the awesome job.

Some of the worst staff management I have ever seen. Also, customer last.

The store is usually very cold which seems to be a thing in all Gristedes I walk into but all the cashiers are super lovely and polite!

The best NYC sandwiches in town at the deli!

Not a bad selection in some respects, and service is generally courteous. The overly high prices are the biggest downside.

I was trying to find a specific item. They didn't have it but the workers were super kind in trying to locate it!

$36 for 6 rolls of paper towels. I didn't look at the price until I got home-- will be reporting for price gouging. Don't be fooled by the gross appearance of the place, the prices do not match the trashy interior. If you're going to be overcharged, at least do it at the Brooklyn Fare a few blocks west. It's much nicer.
