made a reservation months ago, paid money, get to the location and there’s a sign up that says that they’re closed for construction. how could you not inform your customers who have paid and reserved a car, that the location where the appointment is is closed…. unreal

Take note this outlet is closed, yet they still allowed you to book a car pick up from this location.

Unfortunately, this Hertz location didn't convince me at all. The building is in poor condition, the entrance has to be found first and the staff is neither friendly nor helpful.

Friendly staff. Great service. The level of customer service provided by Hertz made this trip so much more wonderful than it could have been altogether otherwise. I recommend booking trips in the morning so you don’t have any issues with picking up or dropping off.

Ordinarily, I wouldn't take the time to write about a poor customer experience, but this has been so far above and beyond the worst experience I've ever had renting a vehicle that I felt a moral obligation to warn as many as possible to avoid this company. It started on June 29th when I was supposed to pick up my rental car from the Greenwich Village location on Morton St. Earlier that week my Grandfather had passed away and I reserved a vehicle for a 3pm pick-up to drive north for his funeral service. Upon arriving at the rental location at 3pm, I found the lights turned off and doors locked bringing me to my first question:Why are customers allowed to reserve rental vehicles up to the exact minute a location closes?Surely, I'm not the first customer this has happened to and there must be a system in place? This is when the nefarious side of Hertz began to reveal itself. The only solution to their failure was for me to cancel my reservation and book a new one. Now under certain circumstances, I could see a last-minute reservation at another location coming close to the same price but last-minute rentals before the 4th of July were thousands of dollars more than my original contract.Upon speaking with the customer service team, the best they could do was apply discount codes to a reservation an hour away in New Jersey (but not to worry, they assured me, I'd be able to return the vehicle to the original location). What they failed to mention was that the only way that would be possible was if I paid an additional $356 "drop fee"... you must be joking.Hertz has never been a beacon of customer service but this nightmare of a rental process has deterred me from ever renting with this company again. I would strongly advise all to reconsider renting a vehicle from this location or Hertz in general.

They don’t have any cars….! So you arrive and then join a line until they get some again with no eta.

Horribly managed location. The staff had no interest to work. The machines didn’t work, they didn’t honor our reservation and instead forced us to go to a different location.

I’m writing this in hopes of getting in touch with an employee. The main #800 told me my reservation could only be extended by the local location. I’ve called several times yesterday and today and no one picks up. The app won’t let me do it but shows several cars available so this should not be a problem. I would just like to speak with someone to confirm I’m still driving with insurance.

Do yourself a favor and try to secure everything for your car rental online or via the app so you can interact with the front desk woman (Jenny) as minimal as possible. Being a New Yorker, I’ve come across a lot of different type of people, but I will say this lady makes the top list of ultimate just absolutely mean-for-no-reason people. Sheesh! Garage man was very very nice though.

They close at 3pm. The car had ineffective windshield wipers which made some of my trip very difficult and frankly, dangerous. Oil was almost past due by the time I returned. I assumed I’d pay tolls but was never informed of the $6 a day EZ Toll service fee that would be charged later on top of the toll fees. Returned the car early and was told by attendant that the reason I won’t be credited is because I paid ahead online instead of in person. I paid ahead because I felt it was the right thing to do and considered the rental car shortage. I chose this place and took a train in from Delaware because in that city there were no cars available. This was an absolutely terrible, expensive experience.

I hit some traffic headed back to this location on a holiday weekend, so I called to ask what my options were. If I was going to be charged a full day, better to just drive myself home and return the car the next day. I called the location specific number a few times and no one answered. So I called the 800 number. No problem they said, here are the hourly rates for a late rental. When I arrived at Morton St I spoke to a staff member in the office and they explained that the people who answer the 800 number are not domestically based, and therefore the information they provide can't be honored. Let me say that again: I was told by the Hertz location that the info Hertz gave me couldn't be honored. They didn't say the info was bad, per say, they said I shouldn't have bothered to request it at all. In the midst of all this, no one bothered to ask me for the keys back. The car was started with a button, so I left it running when I departed the garage, not realizing I still had the physical keys. When I exited the subway in another borough about an hour later I had voicemails and emails demanding the keys back. I was told I had to come back immediately since no one could move the car sans the keys. I explained that it was late at night, I would come first thing in the morning. When I did, wouldn't you know it, a modern day miracle had occurred: the car had been moved! I headed back to the office to return the keys. I was told to expect an email shortly by one person confirming the $250 lost key charge was removed, and then another guy said I already had the email. I asked who was correct and I got a shrug. Like, an actual "damn if I know what goes on at my job" shrug. When the second guy said he had personally emailed me the receipt I asked for his name, he was a real yes man type, he said email. I asked "your name is email?" He said (you guessed it) yes. I commented that that was an odd name. He, again, said yes. Go here if you want a good location, don't go here if you want any level of peace or enjoyment associated with your car rental.

I originally booked the car to be picked up at 1030 and returned at 8 pm. Before I got the car, I told the man at the counter that I needed it past 8 am. He said I could return it the next morning before 1030 for the same price. I returned the car at 959 and received a late return fee. I contacted Hertz and they refused to issue me a refund. This is very deceiving

Bar was set low from other reviews, but they proceeded to sail right under the bar. Huge a-holes that must be paid on how much they steal from customers, because they care way too much about how much Hertz corporate makes.
