I don't like to be too liberal with my 5 star reviews but my experience dining at Il Buco Alimentari last night was a 5 star experience for my friend and me, so 5 stars it will be.First of all, even if you don't want to have a full dinner, the most perfect 5 star experience here is to meet a friend for a drink and order a plate of the fried artichokes appetizer. They are not breaded, they are simply pared down of their husk-like outer leaves and left with the more tender inner leaves and the heart. These are then deep fried and served with a sprinkle of parsley and fresh lemon wedges. They might be one of my top ten favorite bar snacks. The tender leaves become like artichoke chips in the frier and then you get to the delicious heart at the center. Definitely a top ten bar snack. After our delicious artichoke experience, we moved on to dinner. I ordered the Bottarga Spaghettini with peperoncino, parsley and lemon. The pasta was perfectly cooked, the bottarga, dare I say, is a superior understudy of Parmesan Reggiano. It is shaved on top of the pasta, just as Parmesan would be but it doesn't melt so provides texture and the same amount of saltiness but with a very subtle fishy flavor augmented by the pepperoncino for a minimal kick of spice. It was a perfect plate of food.We were quite full after the appetizer and the pasta since we basically licked our plates, so we just ordered two fruity sorbets - strawberry and mango. It was the perfect finish without putting us over the top so we could still enjoy a nice stroll home on a beautiful night without having to be rolled down the street. If you ever want to meet a friend for a drink, stop by for a plate of fried artichokes to share and you will be very pleased with yourself.

I was at this place with my girlfriend having dinner. It’s just a bizarre thing that this restaurant is overcrowded and they even obtain your card info for reservation.. and fee in case u don’t come. because the “Italian” food is even below average. Absolutely nothing special…a piece of Walmart quality fish for a decent amount of money and absolutely usual non-impressing pasta..The service is fun - they came up multiple times within 2 minutes asking did we finish eating willing to take away our plates…Atmosphere is ok though..But would not recommend at all if you want good Italian dinner.

This place is the whole experience! The atmosphere is perfect. The service was well-paced and friendly. The meat charcuterie was great to try, high quality meats of different cuts. The crispy artichoke was a new dish I hadn’t see before. It’s a crisped artichoke, seasoned and topped with lemon. Worth getting again! The Cacio e Pepe was phenomenal — handmade noodles with high-quality cheeses. I loved it. If you’re looking for a nice Italian sit down, this is it! Highly recommend!

Loved the space and concept; really cool idea. However, I found the mains didn't live up to my expectations. The salumi board was really good and definitely a must get. The menu definitely is varied and interesting, so may have to come back to try other items, but the octopus in the pasta was an odd choice given how chewy the preparation of it was. The sausage pasta was good, just missing some salt content to me.

Good, ambience and food good to very good. But told no pizza on menu (a reason we came based on website) - but table next to us were able to order it??!? Apparently a place where who you know matters - no real explanation just a lot of clueless looks and responses. Not ok.

Meh.We reserved our table just when the reservation window opened. Party of four, meeting up after each couple travelled across country. Was supposed to be a fun celebration. When we showed up, we were told we would only have 1:45 to dine. Apparently a large group was coming in and needed the space. At the time, there were lots of empty tables, and it was clear the restaurant had just decided to give us the short end of the stick. We were dealt with poorly by the front desk.Service, to make up for the short time, was brusque and rude. Took my drink away before I was finished. Managed to clatter every plate and utensil. And in case we didn't get the message, they busily were setting up the space around us for the group to follow. No acknowledgement of the favor we were doing the restaurant by cutting our visit short.Food was meh. Best part was the salt, of which there was too much. The bread order, which used to be something, was now just something you might get at a supermarket. Pasta was uneven, and had little flavor. Everything had too much heat.We did not have a dessert, and even so, just barely made it out in our allotted time. Felt very much like we didn't matter to the restaurant, were in the way, and should have been happy to be fed.We will never be back. Quite a shame for what had been a location of some wonderful meals.

The restaurant has a festive atmosphere that's really enjoyable despite the bustle. My husband and I sat at the communal table and enjoyed a really lovely meal and attentive server. With a reservation, I imagine we wouldn't have felt so rushed.

The flavors of the food were delightful, though I did find the portion of pasta a tad on the smaller side, especially for the price. Despite that, I'm inclined to return for another visit in the future
