Another great meal. Have missed eating there since not in the city as much for dinner. We were lucky enough to have our favorite waiter Domingo work last night and also to see Frank for the first time in awhile. We had the sausage, salmon and chicken special and they were amazing along with the rest of the food. The food always comes out hot and the waitstaff are always the best I've seen in any restaurant taking care of everything throughout the meal.

The “off-menu pasta trio” is off menu simply so they can charge $50 for three small servings of pasta with sauce and no protein...absolutely insane. The pesto lacked salt and the caccia peppe was just olive oil. There is so much great Italian in the city, the food here did not measure up and the prices were outrageous for what you got. Good ambiance and service though the waiter forgot my blue-cheese olives.

Horrible service. The worst Waitor I've ever had in my life. Gave us so much attitude for not ordering drinks. We don't eat seafood so my husband asked to replace his snapper with mussels to a snapper with spinach. He tried to reject. When they sent us snapper with spinach, he came over and said “oh. I guess they have you a lot of spinach” and rolled his eyes. Didn't offer us any of the free fix ins that I've been getting at il cantinori for the last 6 years I've been going. This Valentine's Day will be the last we spend here. Unfortunately our vday tradition is over

In the restaurant game native New Yorkers are not easy to impress. I'm no exception. Il Cantinori is a NYers restaurant- it is one of those precious gems you hope not too many discover. Keep it between us. Enjoy.

We loved the food, cocktails, wine, complimentary bread, appetizer and desserts. The ambiance is beautiful. The service was outstanding. I eagerly look forward to returning soon. The ribeye was perfectly prepared.

Extremely poor service. I was not asked one time if if I wanted anything to drink. We also went for a birthday, so I was not asked at all if I wanted dessert or any type of cake for him.

Fabulous food and service - first class from start to dessert !!! Took friends there from Cincinnati and they walked away raving about their dinner. Best grilled veal chop that I have ever had.

Went here for our anniversary dinner, had a wonderful server, wonderful food, wonderful experience, why 1 star? upon leaving I went to the bathroom to return to my significant other telling me she witnessed 2 servers pointing her way and performing inappropriate gestures amongst each other directed at her, sorry but that unprofessionalism alone is enough for me to give 1 star, shame we had a good time but wouldn’t recommend the restaurant now unless you want your female guests to feel uncomfortable and get silently harassed. Have a talk with your staff please, I’m sure they know who they are.

There is no other restaurant in NYC like Il Cantinori!!! When you walk in, you are warmly welcomed with open arms and escorted to your table by Frank. When we were seated, our waiter promptly came over to take our drink orders and share the specials of the day. We ordered several pasta dishes including their seasonal pumpkin ravioli, gnocchi with pesto sauce, tagliolini alla ricotta e limone and chicken Marsala. Everything was delicious. Il Cantinori hands down has the BEST gnocchi in NYC - they are fluffy clouds of flavor cooked to perfection every time. These are an absolute must if you are lucky enough to get your hands on a plate!! Throughout our meal, our waiter came over to check on us to make sure everything tasted okay, and while the restaurant was busy, we did not feel like we were rushed out. We cannot wait to come back!!

Il Cantinori is one of the great Italian restaurants of New York City.Situated in NoHo, near Union Square, this restaurant is on a quiet street, tucked into the middle of the block. From the moment you enter you are in a cozy but classy place, with tables lit by candle light and the amazing smell of Italian herbs coming from the kitchen. You just know that the meal will be good. That sets the tone for the entire meal. Our server greeted us almost immediately and took our drink order. An assortment of italian breads can shortly after the server left to fill the drink order. They served this amazing pomodoro tomato sauce on a dish to each of us. It was not like a bruschetta topping but more like a very savory chunky tomato sauce with parmesan cheese. The temptation was to ask for more bread and more tomato sauce, but we resisted. For the appetizer we ordered the Calamari Alla Griglia. It had a light dusting of Italian breadcrumbs and cooked to perfection and topped with cherry tomatoes. It was lighter than most calamari that I've had. It was not chewy, which is a red flag for me. It was fresh and crisp. Two of us ordered the Tagliolini Neri Alle Vongole E Carciofi (Black squid ink pasta with clams), one with red sauce (special order) and one with white wine sauce. The white wine version was a bit flat. The red sauce version exploded with flavor. It was absolutely delicious. One of us ordered the Mediterranean fish special. I can't recall the name, but it was mild, not fishy, and was really tasty. The person in my party that ordered this said they would definitely order it again. For dessert we shared a cheesecake round with raspberry sauce. It was the perfect size to end the meal along with a snifter of sambuca. The glass came with 3 coffee beans, as all GOOD Italian restaurants will serve it. 3 is good luck and we certainly had good luck with this meal.I'm giving Il Cantinori 5 stars and adding it to my NY favorite restaurant list.
