Very disappointed in this hotel. To begin with, our initial room was facing the south, towards 32rd St. The entire southern facade of the building is under construction, and builders were jack hammering the stone directly outside our window starting at about 8am. These are supposed to be “premium” rooms with a view, however the only view we got was of a semi transparent tarp and construction workers. We asked to be moved and they did accommodate us, but only after we asked to speak to mgmt. Secondly, housekeeping needs some improvement. We called and asked them to bring us up some soap and bottles of water. It took two calls and over an hour for them to bring it up to the room. Finally, the rooms themselves don’t have much sound isolation. The room across from us was having a party at 2:30am which woke us up. After waiting 30 min for them to quiet down, we called the front desk to complain. They did sent up security, however that didn’t do much.

Rude, terrible and unacommidating service. My friend’s flight delayed and he could not be reached in the air. The front desk and bag people would not hold my bag for 30 minutes so I could go eat. I was logged onto our Hilton app under his account so I had the digital room key and was checked in. We travel frequently and this has never been an issue before, but I did not know my name was technically not on the reservation. They said the only way they’d hold my bag is if he could be reached and change the reservation, which he couldn’t do in the air. I understand not being let into a room my name is not on, I was not upset by that but not holding my bags felt so unnecessarily rude after a long day of difficult travel. You’d think an active, checked in room key on the Hilton app would prove I’d come back for my bags.

**Review of Martinique Hotel**I recently stayed at the Martinique Hotel, and while the experience was not without its flaws, there were certainly some standout aspects worth mentioning.First and foremost, the hotel's antique charm is undeniable. From the grand staircase to the classic décor, it's a photographer's dream. However, during my stay, the hotel was undergoing construction, which unfortunately obstructed the view from our room windows with scaffolding. This was disappointing, as it detracted from the overall ambiance.Despite this setback, the small size of the hotel added to its charm, giving it a cozy and intimate feel. The retiring doorman, who shared his plans to move to North Carolina, added a personal touch to our stay, and I wish him all the best in his future endeavors. The lobby was another highlight, providing a comfortable space to relax and unwind after a day of exploring the city. Additionally, the hotel's proximity to the subway made it convenient for getting around, and the 20-minute walk to Times Square offered a chance to take in the bustling city streets. One unexpected delight was the brunch we enjoyed across the street at The Herald restaurant. The food was excellent, and it added to the overall positive experience of our stay.In conclusion, the Martinique Hotel may have its quirks, but its classic charm and friendly staff make it a worthwhile choice for those seeking a unique New York City experience.

Update- No one reached out. I called the front desk this AM. After 15 min Babakar, the manager answered. Gave my name, room#, asked to be emailed an itemized bill. He asked how my stay was, I said unpleasant. He said he was sorry to hear that and would email me by bill. That was it. I had a private car service today arranged by the hotel to LGA. The driver almost wrecked and took 90 minutes to get to LGA. I left an item in the car that can't be found. I'll take this up with Hilton and the BBB at this point. The one star is for the location and for the some of the service and quality in the Press Club Grill and Early Edition coffee bar.I am on the road over 200 days a year with Hilton, many of them in NYC, and this one is lowest 10% of any I've ever stayed at anywhere. My husband joined me this trip and was not at all impressed with the property or service.Location- You can't get closer to Penn Station, Subway, and Madison Square Garden. It's the only thing keeping me here after multiple stays at this property where the service gets worse every time.Press Club Grill- bar service is friendly and fast. Table service is slow and not friendly. The hosts and the managers are very friendly as well. Some of the food is really well done (Waldorf Salad, Hangar Steak), but most of it is mediocre.Room service- Wildly inconsistent, usually badly prepared for the same items as the restaurant. I ordered a medium well burger the other night and it was bloody. It took me 2 hours to eat from the time I ordered. I ordered the cauliflower lasagna and it had the wrong sauce and was ice cold. I ordered sodas and they were warm and I had no way to open glass bottles. Just a few examples.Early Edition- very good, but don't be in a hurry.Valet- I come and go every day (for the past 3 weeks this trip) and no one greets me or offers to get the door, and I'm usually loaded down with multiple bags or boxes from work. Twice, I have been told, not my job go to the front desk, only to go to the Front Desk who tells me it's not their job.Security- They do keep the homeless out of the lobby and occassionally check keys at 10 PM, although you think they would know me after 3 weeks. They are not nice to food delivery or laundry service people that I've done business with.Housekeeping- WILDLY inconsistent. Tried to enter my room and scared me to death. Manager said it was because there was a stain on the carpet and they needed to clean it. That should have been taken care of before I was given the room and still does not change the uneccesary point of room entry. Also- 3 weeks later, the stain is still there and my carpet has been vacuumed once. My vanity, table and desk I eat from never get wiped down and I have bought my own spray and paper towels to do so. No coffee today, and restocking is hit or miss.Gift shop- looks nice, but it has never been open once that I've been here.Front desk- lazy and rude every stay, and there is usually a huge line, and checkout is an ordeal with billing. I gave up on the Front desk last trip, but have had to deal with them 2x this trip. They spend more time explaining why something can't be done or why it's not their job than it takes to do a task that even a basic Motel 6 usually takes care of for guests. Both times they were not helpful and this morning ended up in a shouting match just trying to drop of my laundry for pick up. The valet had already told me that he did not he did not do this, go to Front Desk. Front Desk said not my job, go to valet. Then just flat out said, not my job when I came back. I just wanted a cup of coffee and to drop off my laundry and ended up late for work and in a bad mood.Management allows this poor behavior and has refused to address issues over several stays. The manager did not think it was a big deal that housekeeping entered my room with out warning when I reported the incident. In short, stay elsewhere. I really tried with this place because of the proximity to transit. I won't be back, and I won't recommend to

I booked a trip to NY as a birthday gift for my boyfriend. I did extensive research on hotels before selecting The Martinique. I especially choosed the hotel for the size of the room and booked a double. However, when we reached we were told to have the smallest (!!) room in the hotel and were offered an upgrade for 100 a day. I refused and told the receptionist that I especially booked a regular double bed and showed him the pictures from my booking. He didn’t wanted to give us any other room.Furthermore we have been charged an additional 240$!!! What for?! As far as I was informed the tourist fee is 40 a day - which would be for 3 nights no 240.Ridiculous.

First time in NYC and this hotel just made the experience even better. The rooms are small but clean and modern. Service and staff, outstanding. Jose was always eager to help get a ride or give advice on the city. Great

A good central hotel. Nice staff. The room was nice but didn't have a view which would of been nice while staying in New York.

We had a great stay at the Martinique. A friend who frequents the city highly recommended them because of the location and how close it was to the Moynihan Train Hall at Penn Station and within walking distance to Broadway, Time Square, etc.The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, from check in until after checking out, securing our bags so we could walk around before having to catch our train for home. Our room was clean and worked well for what we needed. The night was a bit loud with road noise (traffic, sirens, etc), but I don't know any place in the city that would be immune to that same issue.Would certainly look to stay here again in the future.

Excellent location, currently works on the façade, you pay a supplement per stay that gives you credit for services, extra...breakfast, gym, $35 per room per day, taxes not

Rooms were not ready until 8pm. We had young kids and wanted to freshen up before dinner. Staff pointed us to the policy that rooms would be available “some time after 4pm” meaning whenever they get to it. Don’t assume you are going to get access to your room before 10pm! Also only one on site representative for a 18 floor hotel means ridiculous wait times to do anything other than access rooms on the app. Just another hotel with no customer service and high prices in NYC!

I liked this place due to its lower cost than competitors and the proximity to a lot of places especially koreatown. Room size is what you’d expect when in a crowded city. Everything was clean and security is good. What I didn’t like was that our bellhop was kinda rude and pushy about getting a tip. Our tv also didn’t fully work. Note that there is a daily $40 resort fee. We used that money by buying a large breakfast each day from their cafe.
