We went to their adoption event back in September and met with a puppy that we loved. We went to their event on a whim and and were told that since we already met with the pup, we would get first priority and could set up a meeting at HQ during the week. We were so excited. We emailed that same day, days go by, no response… Finally when we did get a response, we were told that we were now second in line and that we can come to next weeks event to see what the first person in line decides. We went to the event and were crushed as we saw the first person in line take him home. If we would have known, we would have taken the dog the same day we met with him. It was very unprofessional for us to be lied to and made believe that we had high chances. Another volunteer that I explained this to simply said the person helping us did not know the rules and should have never told us we would get priority. Although I ended up adopting another pup later on and will still recommend/will adopt from muddy paws again, this experience still makes me sad. I write this review in hopes for change because muddy paws is truly saving dogs. Please provide better customer service because communication through email takes too long and there were times where I would get inaccurate responses (ex. I was told they couldn’t find my registration when I was indeed registered) and then it will take days again to get a response. And of course, I ask to please train volunteers the proper rules so that my situation will not happen to others.

I had a very easy foster experience with Muddy Paws. I was assigned a foster buddy and they gave me everything I needed to take care of my precious Coco. She was adopted after only one week!

Muddy Paws Rescue is a fantastic organization. We have been lucky to volunteer, foster and adopt from them. They are very well organized and transparent and always willing to be open with any questions you might have. I would definitely recommend MPR!

I've volunteered for, fostered with, and rescued from a number of animal rescues in different states over the years, and I can easily say that Muddy Paws is the most organized, well run, impactful rescue I've ever encountered. The organization is run by an incredibly dedicated and caring team, on both the staff and volunteer level. Every step of the rescue, fostering, and adoption process is thoughtfully and responsibly designed to ensure as many pups as possible are placed in safe, loving homes and that new adopters are set up for success. Incredible organization!

Muddy Paws was an incredible organization to work with throughout the adoption process for my dog! Their team is incredibly supportive and provided me a ton of resources before, during and after; and the process was really straightforward. I really admire the work everyone puts in to find the perfect match for each family and to set them up for success in the future. The adoption events are well organized and lively and a great way to see all the different kinds of dogs they have available

I had great experience adopting my dog Jackson through Muddy Paws Rescue. I first met Jackson at a Saturday adoption event and he definitely took a shine to me. I told several volunteers that I would be adopting him soon, but I didn't realize quite how soon. I wanted my husband and our previously adopted dog, Calamity, to meet Jackson before making a commitment, so we all went to another adoption event that Thursday for full family introductions. Jackson and Calamity started playing immediately and we knew they would be fast friends. The Muddy Paws volunteers walked us through all of the adoption paperwork and gave us some great recommendations on how to welcome Jackson into our home. In total, the whole process took less than week and we're so happy to have welcomed Jackson into our home and our lives.

I adopted my dog Archie from Muddy Paws earlier this year and I only have great things to say about them. The registration process was incredibly transparent and went quickly, and the process to move forward with adopting Archie was straightforward and informative. They had all his medical records and information ready to review, and provided me with a ton of resources post-adoption. The volunteers that I worked with were all very helpful and clearly have every dogs best interest at heart. The team and volunteers are passionate about dog rescue, and that really shows throughout the entire organization!

I adopted my dog from Muddy Paws Rescue in 2021 after hearing about them from a family member who had adopted from them in 2017.The process to become a registered adopter was straightforward, taking about 2 weeks from the time I filled out the registration form, to being ready to adopt, but also incredibly thorough including a call with a volunteer to learn more about my preferences in a dog. Once registered, I kept a close eye on the website daily until I saw a dog I was interested in. After emailing the adoptions team, I received a response within a few hours and moved forward with scheduling a meeting.Since it was during the height of the pandemic, meetings were being held virtually over zoom. Despite not meeting her in person prior to making a decision, I felt as confident as I could in my decision to adopt because the information from Muddy Paws was so thorough. I knew about her routine while in her foster home, and even had the chance to ask her foster questions about her schedule and behavior. While picking her up 2 days later, the staff and volunteers at the event made sure things were running smoothly, from giving her vaccines, to explaining the walking device that she had been using in foster care. It was clear that everyone I encountered cares deeply about the best interest of each and every pup that passes through their care and are genuinely invested in their placement and success.Following her adoption, I heard from MPR several times, checking in to see how she was settling in, and I made sure to take advantage of the many resources they provide to adopters, including trainer recommendations. I couldn't imagine my life without my pup and I'm so appreciative to MPR for everything they did to bring her into my life.

I adopted my dopey dude from MPR in June of 2020, which im sure was a crazy time for dog rescue in NYC. Emailed about a few dogs and although I wasn't quick enough, they always updated me once the dog found a home. In the end, I believe everything worked out the way it should have because my dog is the perfect fit for my home and life and I'll forever be indebted to Muddy Paws for bringing him into my life. You can tell how much all of the humans at Muddy Paws truly care about the dogs and it's a rescue worth supporting.

Muddy Paws is such an amazing organization that cares so deeply for saving the lives of dogs. I’ve had an amazing experience with Muddy Paws as a foster and volunteer and several of my friends have adopted their pups from MPR as well and have nothing but wonderful things to say about their experience. With many rescues, there’s a huge barrier to entry making it impossible to adopt, but Muddy Paws eliminates that barrier so we can save as many dogs as possible. Highly recommend rescuing your next furry friend with Muddy Paws!

I have been fostering and volunteering with Muddy Paws for over 6 years and have had a great experience. Muddy Paws is extremely organized and has set processes in place which helps the adoption and fostering process to run smoothly and efficiently.Muddy Paws also practices open adoptions and truly strives to give every adopter and foster the opportunity to adopt or foster as long as they have good intentions and are willing to learn. The dogs come from the NYCACC or other open intake shelters such as Bowling Green Warren County Humane Society in Kentucky where the needs are high, but care is taken when deciding what dogs will be happy in an urban environment like NYC. Obviously behavior in a shelter environment is not always a clear indicator of how dogs will behave in a home environment, but every effort is made to communicate all known information about the dog to potential adopters. Muddy Paws wants to equip potential adopters with all of the information available so that an informed decision can be made by adopters.I have felt supported during my fostering process as fosters are matched with a volunteer foster buddy who can answer any questions. All supplies are also provided, dogs are marketed on the website and on social media and there are weekly opportunities to get dogs adopted through adoption events. My own dog was a foster fail from Bowling Green Warren County Humane Society via Muddy Paws and she is the light of my life!
