Poor banking experience , didn’t allow to encase a cheque , saying that if I don’t have an account with them anything above $1000 would not be possible, and sent me out after making me wait for too long.Too many banking issues , hence I prefer banking with Chase where service is simply excellent.

There is a bank teller and a branch manager who are both very unprofessional, surly, and downright incompetent at the Broadway and 181 St branch. Recently, I went to make a withdrawal, and the teller told me she could not found my account due to a recent system upgrade.I have had this account for 20 years and do most of my banking online. However, I go at least twice a month personally to deposit checks so is not like I have not been to the branch in years. To make a long story short, the branch manager came to the teller assistance. And things quickly went downhill from there. The manager claimed that my account needed to be updated. But what could have been done in 5 minutes took the branch manager almost half an hour to complete.Much to my chagrin, she put me through the wringer. She pulled my file and spent 25 minutes going over it. I don't know what she was looking for. To me it looked like she was just pretending and going through the motions. I told her look you got all of my information there including my signature compare my signature and verify my identity with my current license which she had in her possession. To add insult to injury, she began to ask me the security questions I chose for my online banking account. But I was not making an online transaction so there was no need for that. This branch is going to hell in a hand basket. I wonder why it is always so empty.Since the pandemic, service at this particular branch has gotten worse and leave a lot to be desired. In the middle of the pandemic, it limited the ATM hours meaning that if one had an emergency in the wee hours of the night one could not make any withdrawals. ATM's exist precisely so customers could have access to their money 24/7.In addition, it is unfathomable that a branch located in a Dominican enclave like Washington Heights does not have Spanish-speaking tellers among its personnel quite in contrast to the Citibank across the street and the Chase branch around the corner where most tellers are bilingual.Furthermore, when there is going to be a system upgrade, customers get notified online and by letter. And I have not received any notification lately about any recent system upgrade. So, this branch manager was just trying to cover up for her teller incompetence and her own mishandling of the situation.Did I mention that the teller could not even hand out the bills in the proper denominations I requested? This happens when banking institutions wanting to save money hire nincompoops for the job.

I love this bank and this branch is the one that introduced me to NYCB.I've opened and recommended others to open accounts with them for the last 10 years and never really have had a problem. Now for the last year or so I've avoided going to this location because of 1 female employee who always seems to hate to be there and her attitude always reflects that.Shes professional but always makes me feel as if I'm bothering her.
