Membership renewal scam. I was in town for one week and the person at the desk agreed it would be more cost effective for me to sign up for a monthly membership and cancel due to the relative cost of a day pass. However, they never mentioned that my membership would renew on the 1st of the month as opposed to 1 month after my sign up day, and also that I needed to give 5 business days notice to avoid being charged for the next cycle. This is going to result in my being charged $94 for next billing cycle even though I don't even live in New York. Also, there is no clear way to cancel online, so I've been on hold with the location for about 20 minutes trying to move my cancellation forward. Based on Reddit posts and reviews it seems like this kind of thing is typical and built into NYSC's business model. I would absolutely not recommend this gym.

This NYSC is amazing! Great facility with lots of equipment. Three floors with the bottom weightlifting, middle cardio, and top floor is machines with performance lab, lockers, and water massage. Billy at the front desk is kind, helpful, and knowledgeable. He was able to help me with signing up and giving me an introduction. Every morning he is smiling and excited to help with any questions I might have at the gym. I had a free personal training consultation with Malique. Malique is also great at his job, he is helpful and incredibly informative about how to do various workouts. All of the staff deserves the highest credit. This is a great gym which you won't regret joining! Clean facilities and amazing staff, thank you Billy and Malique!

small free weight area in the lower level and the rest of it is on the top floor which makes no sense when you are in the middle of a workout.

Haven been down that way in a while but from what I have gathered they are like a lot of the inherited in the area not contributing to the area but for the wrong reasons. Back in the day lex would have like free fridays to attract women and it would be really helpful for the older folks whos cash really still supports the district. Kinda a dark spot neighborhood at this point.

Terrible gym. The front desk refused to give me a second, clean towel for a shower. I had to shower using my sweaty towel. They spent a ton of money and time renovating the Park Ave location but there is limited space for open mat workouts and they frequently run out of towels. Such a disappointment.

Apparently, NYSC is under new management this year, and this "Elite" location has been touting new features and services. Unfortunately, this location STILL can't seem to get a grasp on delivering one of the most basic and indispensable requirements of an exercise facility: proper climate control. In particular, the air conditioning at the 23rd and Park facility has malfunctioned regularly for more than twenty years now, as long as I've been a member. Apparently, the system is comprised of several independent systems, and it is a rare occasion when all of them deliver a consistent 71 degrees throughout the facility. As I write this review, half of the second floor -- including the men's locker room -- has NO A/C, and accordingly the temperature reading there this morning was a balmy (and humid!) 84 degrees. C'mon, NYSC corporate, don't just talk the talk, walk the walk!!! Invest in a proper new A/C system here that doesn't break several times each summer. And hire an A/C maintenance operation that will fix a problem in hours, not days or weeks, as is currently the case. I'm sure I speak for many other members when I say, what good are the latest trendy fitness regimens when one can't do even old-school exercises in a comfortable environment? Sheesh!!!

While visiting NY from LA for ten days, I enjoyed the great amenities at the NYSC on east 23rd street. Brandon and the check in staff were wonderful. After recent Achilles tendinitis surgery, I used the recumbent bike, weights, workout room. The recovery lounge is marvelous. The AC was working just fine a few days ago. The $20 day pass was worth every penny. So chill out New Yorkers! This is a great deal with so many affordable amenities. I will be back.

It's bizarre but this gym doesn't even have air conditioning. I thought that wasn't even possible, but I guess it is. It's strange because the space is equipped with central air conditioning, but they choose not to turn it on so the place feels like it's 100 degrees all the time.

This is a very basic gym. Full disclosure, I've never been up to the weightlifting room, I only come to use the treadmill. There are a lot of treadmills but none of the TVs connected to them turn on. Many are missing a cup holder for your water bottle, there's just a hole where the cup holder should be. The treadmill area does get crowded in the evening time after work, I've had to wait to get on a machine. If you can come earlier you should. It does tend to get hot in the treadmill area, I wish they would install fans to keep the temp a bit lower. The worst part about this gym is the weekend hours, they close at 5.00PM on Saturday and Sunday which is a huge bummer. The front desk staff is consistently cool and friendly. I will continue to come, just want all to know not to expect anything special.
