This place is definitely the talk of the town. Just before we walked in the doors we had a local telling us that it was a great Italian place and we wouldn't be disappointed. He couldn't be closer to the truth! We enjoyed great service from the staff, a good ambiance, and delicious food. The food came out of the kitchen in what seemed like five minutes and it was good. Wouldn't recommend linguine bongole if you are sensitive to spice because of the pepper flakes, but it was still a great dish. The pizza and the penne vodka were out of this world flavor, and for a reasonable price too. If you are looking for an Italian place that has won the hearts of the locals, this is the place for you.Vegetarian options: If there is a dish with meat, you can ask them to take it out.

Tonight I wanted to have dinner in one of the good Italian spots in upper west side soon to go downhill, Osteria Cotta. I’m here sitting at table with 3 other people. So far horrible experience. I walked in with my party of 3, hostess was very nice. She gave us a table upstairs in that cozy charming room. I thought this is great, until…. a guy approaches the table and started pouring water into our glasses without asking what kind of water we want. I had to stop him and ask for a bottle of sparkling and a bottle of flat water. He’s like yes I bring bottle of sparkling and here is flat water I’m like no man that’s top water from the sink, I want Agua that cost dinero.I thought he’s busboy, I’m like ok things happen. Then same guy approaches our table with a clover device I believe in his hand asking us if are ready to order. That’s when I lost my patience. I wanted to order a chicken dish for my parents and I had to go back and forth with this guy how does the wood fire chicken come, whole half roasted boiled raw you name it, how long does it takes for the dish to be ready and so on and so forth. The guy had issues with communicating in English. Look Im immigrant myself like 8 million New Yorkers but for Gods sake when you go out to dine you should expect to communicate and understand clearly each other not to have hard time to order a damn chicken dish. Imagine if I had any or or few allergies and the guy didn’t understand my allergies then I was gonna end up in hospital most likely.I have nothing against migrants I love them all as they are hard working people but to be blamed here is the management especially the owner who don’t oversee what’s going on in his place. You should never put on floor as server to interact with costumers someone who isn’t able to understand and communicate in English.I spoke with the manager here tonight and my first question was, you are new here aren’t you, when did you start and he looked at me like “ how do you know kind of “ he replied I been here as manager few month already. Inside exactly I been coming here since 2014.I explained him what’s going on and also told him look at the table there is a bottle of sparking water and there are 4 glasses of water filled with tap water. How we suppose to drink this sparking water? He’s like oh yeah I’m sorry let me get you glasses. My goodness can you imagine! Then I had to get up and get two extra cleaning sharing plates, cuz no one was around to clean our plates. The “waiter” came to the table twice when he took the order and brought the check. I wanted to order some more truffle fries but I’m like screw it I’m not going to chase these people around.Service sucks sucks sucks, get this from someone who eats out and someone who values experience and quality. If you come across this post take your time and think before going to this place. Unless you don’t care or have some $$ to waste. At the end I asked for the bill, and everything was in there, they had no courtesy to do the right thing. If the owner comes across this review, man your management and service sucks. For me tonight was last night walking through that door. Never again.

Food 5/10Went here for brunch and the food was alright. Got an omelette and the toast came out cold.Atmosphere 8/10Nice interior and plenty of space, two floors.Service 4/10Took forever for the food to come up, it was an hour until we got to eat. Disappointing. They gave us a free chocolate cake though as an apology. Felt bad for the waiter he was the only person staffed :(

The food here is FANTASTIC!I would say it’s the best Italian on the upper west side.My dish completely melted in my mouth. The wings are the best you will ever have. The prices are also super reasonable, a bit cheaper than most of the restaurants in the area. The atmosphere is almost medieval mixed with some upscale features.I recommend sitting upstairs.

Nice ambience! Had calamari, meatballs, and two pasta dishes. Foods were 3/5, extra salty, pasta noodles were not as well cooked. Wasn’t delicate in general. Service also was ok, nothing particularly bad or amazing. Nice deco and vibe tho. Would be a good happy hour place.

This is the best brunch in the city. The food is wonderful. The drinks are plentiful. The atmosphere is cozy not cramped. The staff are friendly, smart and fast. And the prices are not to be beat anywhere. The only thing that could make it better, is if they allowed dogs... but alas NYC doesn't allow dogs in restaurants. Thank you Osteria Cotta!Dietary restrictions: Eggs in Purgatory is my favorite dish. It also just happens to be vegetarian and gluten free.

Do yourselves a favor and stay away from Osteria Cotta. I’ve visited a couple of times and service takes forever, it’s loud, dark and food mediocre. Tried ordering take out and worst experience ever. After 2 hours of no delivery I called and rude unapologetic woman acknowledged my order had not eta. Waste of time and money.

Where to begin, the service is horrible: hostess behaved unfriendly and unwelcoming, gave us a table right in front of the bathroom where you can actually face inside the bathroom, and also waitress work station, not pleasant experience; waitress was very unfriendly looked like she didn’t want to help her guests, even can’t describe the weird energy came from her, very very disappointed; the food is average, nothing special, this is Italian place but our waitress didn’t even bother to offer us extra cheese for pasta etc.; not kids friendly because they do not have a kids menu or options for kids except meatballs from small plates menu. Just waste of time and money, honestly.

Amazing food, amazing drinks, amazing atmosphere. Its everything you could want for a romantic date. We had our wedding rehearsal dinner here and rented out the top floor and it was absolutely perfect. I love the limoncello spritz here and the pizzas and pasta are so good. SO many great options and brunch here is so fun too with great prices.

This is a very unique place. I am not blown away by the food, but the service and the atmosphere makes every stay here enjoyable - which is why it is always crowded!!
