This may be the best butcher shop in New York City but don't ever work for them. They will physical and mental abuse you. They will give you routes that would take 14 to 15 hours to complete. They will scream at you when your deliveries are late because you have to keep going back to the store to pick up products that the workers in the store conveniently forget to pack with your deliveries. There is a lot of favoritism going on in this establishment. The boss will tell his employees what they want to hear instead of what they need to hear blatantly they will lie to your face. There is so much disfunction in this establishment. Please save yourself the headache.

July 4, 2023,What a way to have a barbecue, get it nice and hot throw on a Piccinini 42 oz. Porterhouse and a couple of their outstanding filets, get the grill marks and lip smacking good. We can’t say enough about the quality that you provide. Thank you again!Ps Dad gave me a marrow bone to munch on!BuzzIt’s now then end of thanksgiving 2022, and I must say that for the last 2 years we have been buying our thanksgiving turkeys from you and bar none there is no better. They’re just outstanding yes they’re more costly then when you buy from a supermarket or even a local butcher. However, there’s thanksgiving and you deserve only the best and that’s what Piccinini gives you. Thank you.Since the last time I wrote my little buddy @bizy_buzz, said, Dad it's time you wrote another review telling Piccinini Bros how great they are, and how wonderful the products are that we get from them. He said tell them the truth that "they're you favorite," so when little Buzz speaks I listen! Thank you again from all of us!We started buying from Piccinini about 18 months ago, basically when they started accepting online orders and delivering to NYC and Long Island. What a blessing, The quality and selection of provisions is simple amazing. Over the years I have purchased a significant amount of similar products from D'Artagnan and Agata on 79th Street in NYC. Now, I'd say pretty much all of my meat comes from Piccinni, as does the poultry and various other assorted items. The biggest bonus is that I get my frozen marrow bones for my puppy too, which is of the utmost importance to me. They are a wonderful purveyor, a caring provider and a local business and they need community support. The racks of lamb I served our company last night, naturally are the same you'd get in your upscale restaurant. they were just simply amazing. I felt compelled to posting this note, most of what I post are restaurant reviews but I needed to do this! Thank you Sylvie and staff!

I love this place. The owner(s) is very kind and very passionate about her trade. This butchery pre pandemic only used to supply to local and national restaurants however changed their business model to provide for individual consumers during and post the pandemic lockdown. Perhaps their price points are a dollar per pound/lbs higher than other butcheries around, but the consideration and knowledge of the cuts and preparation methods more than make up for this difference.I.E. I stopped by to purchase some bone marrow to treat my partner to a nice snack. Without prompt or hesitation I was asked how I intended to use the marrow. I wanted to roast them canoe style to eat with bread, and immediately was rewarded with center cut shanks. These little details matter in the end.Everything they prepare for you is vacuumed seal in freezer safe packaging, sometimes there is cheese and snacks (AND AMAZING BUTTER) while you wait for your order.I haven't read any of the reviews of this place prior to writing this post. I literally just walked by this shop and went in and got to know- at least- everyone who works the front of the shop. Owner and staff are super friendly and happy to converse with you about what you want to make or provide helpful suggestions if you're not sure on preparation methods etc. I am a huge fan.

I’m so disappointed. I called the shop to make sure they would be able to fabricate the simple order I was going to send. I was assured “absolutely”, just put it in the instructions. I received both items incorrectly. I called and was told the owner would call to rectify the situation. No call. I’m a Private Chef. I live uptown and could easily get the simple items here. I was looking for a butcher who could do the correct cut and trim. Oh well :(

This place will spoil you for quality meat. We can’t fathom going back to grocery store meats. It’s all so much more flavorful. And I can get interesting pieces like calf liver and pig ears. They say they can fulfill special requests and I’ve asked them for things like the calf liver and American Wagyu. They check with their sources, give me a price, and it’s included in my order. It’s still a small business so you won’t have Amazon-like responses, but I’m delighted to support a local business.

One of the last great original butcher shop's in the city, ~100 years old. Recently open to the public. You can now purchase restaurant quality cut meats. They have everything you could want from from beef, pork, dry-aged steak, chicken, duck, sausage, bolognese, and more. The staff is very friendly and helpful. This is a hidden gem you don't want to miss.

Come here for high-end beef cuts (for corresponding high-end prices), Berkshire pork, and good quality sausages / mixes of meats for Italian cooking especially. If possible order in advance and pick up or opt for delivery. All cuts and preparations are done in a separate area from the front of house, so if you need to go in person be prepared for a wait, and know that the back of the house knows more about current stock of cuts and items than the front, so you may want to have substitutions in mind.Cuts are vacuum sealed, if you're squeamish about excess blood etc. in your packaging or bag—I find it a bit of a luxury, but it's extremely convenient for refrigeration and freezing. If you are someone who doesn't want to dwell much on the fact you're eating a previously living animal, this and the distance from the back makes a trip here easy on the conscious. Otherwise, you may miss directly talking with the butcher and getting suggestions for what you're making.Beyond the main items above, selection is a bit more limited. You'll have to look elsewhere for things like ham hocks, trotters, meats like goat, and most offal. The offal I've gotten here was limited in variety, and was frozen/prepackaged, though convenient. A larger or higher volume butcher would be a better option for these items.

Great place to buy meat. They have the best quality (prime and dry aged beef especially) and the prices are very reasonable especially for things like chicken thighs and pork shoulder. So happy this place opened its doors to the public instead of just doing direct sales to restaurants!

I'm so disappointed. I called the shop to make sure they would be able to fabricate the simple order I was going to send through Mercato. I was assured "absolutely", just put it in the instructions. I live uptown and could easily get the simple items here. I was looking for a butcher who could do the correct cut and trim. Oh well :(

I was willing to put up with a poor online ordering system if the food was delivered consistently and of good quality. And it was the first time I ordered from here. Recently had something delivered on Thursday and spoiled by Friday night. Won't be buying from here again.

I've been coming here quite regularly now. I hope people realize that many of the negative reviews were written during the early days of the pandemic. Piccinini was formerly only supplying restaurants and then started selling to the general public. I prefer to shop in person since it's just easier for me to plan as I go. The staff are friendly and they have a little display counter with prepackaged cuts of some of their popular requests. The aged steak looks amazing. Their prices are very good and the quality is excellent. Usually I pop in and place my order, then let them know I'll be back in 20 or so minutes. I grab a coffee nearby at Bird & Branch or a cookie at Schmackery's while I wait.
