What a place! In the 1970s and 80s there were tons of quirky specialty shops like this run by curmudgeonly owners all over the East Village. This is definitely a throwback to that era but the stuff for sale is very well curated and not crazy expensive. Their specialty, however, is repairs. If you phone in advance, you will get the third degree on the phone - it's better to just walk in and show them what needs to be fixed. Chances are they can do it.

Will give zero star if I can, the moment I walked in and the owner (middle age white male) says to me and my bf "What if you guys come in and shot me?" We are asian and African American, wow not surprise how disgusting he was!!!! But it definitely ruined my entire day !!!!!

The front desk staff is not as helpful. The owner can be a little snobby, and was not wearing a mask during my visit, as he should during the COVID pandemic. He was quick to interrupt when I'd ask questions. That said, they did a good job with my piece, but I must add that it was over-priced. There are other stores I have been to in the city that could have charged less for the same work. I'd shop around and get a quote from them before dropping off any items.

Brought my great aunt's rickety dining chairs in for repair. I had retrieved them from my parent's house where they'd been used in the summer dining area on their screened-in porch for at least 30 years. They really showed the wear, but I loved them anyway. The joints were wobbly and the original springs and horse-hair stuffing were coming apart. Bob reglued the chairs and installed new seats with new padding and fabric he had on hand. Eight years later he fixed a broken spindle and you can't tell which one it is. An excellent job at an affordable price.

Excellent service! I've had two pieces of furniture restored by Bob. If you are reading this review because you are searching for the best spot to have your valuable piece restored, then you have found it. Bob cares a lot about the quality and integrity of his work and he offers great value for his services. The fast turnaround time is also a huge plus! Thank you.

Good repairs, a little cranky (old school NYer: I don't mind), a little more expensive than I'd hoped but reasonable for handcrafted repairs. I recommend them.

A gem of a store if you are looking for affordable restorations or last-minute film set props. They have a great selection of mcm as well as antiques. The owner, Bob, is a hoot. An old school New Yorker that can spin yarn with the best of them. Two thumbs up and a snap.

I had an antique chair with a broken leg in need of repair and so I looked around at a few furniture restoration shops to try to get a sense of the price.

Bob may not be warm and fuzzy but his work is amazing and he stands by everything he does. I had him restore my grandmother's cedar chest which had been stored in a basement for 40 years. I showed him pictures and he gave me what I thought was a really fair price considering the amount of work it required. The day we lifted it to carry it to him, the sides fell apart. Bob didn't even flinch and restored it beautifully. I highly recommend him and totally trust him. Im brining in a chair tomorrow that needs refinishing and reupolstering will keep you posted!
