My wheelchair broke because of the rough streets here in Manhattan. I am in trouble here because without my wheelchair I am stuck. I was so fortunate to find this Ace hardware store on the next block. The kind man who met us at the door was so helpful and took the broken screw and walked to the back of the store to find a replacement. These Ace Hardware stores must have a magic collection of stuff in back because they have everything that I have ever needed and, trust me, they build these expensive wheelchairs with strange hardware! So, when the gentleman comes out he is holding up the new screw and I am so happy. This man is my hero!! 50¢ and I am back in business! I’m not here to editorialize but I never get this much help from the big box stores and in the middle of Manhattan to top it off! Thank you!!

I came into this store to make a copy of my car key. Got it done then upon trying the key, it only opened the door but wont start the car; i checked back-in and spoke to the man who was in charge of they key dept; he barely looked me in the eye and said there's nothing he can do about it; tons of attitude and bad energy from an old man to be acting like that. All i wanted was for him to take a look or offer any alternatives. Poor customer experience and very bad customer service. Wont go there again. ( Instead of focusing on the real issue, you have time to go read my other reviews; this speaks volume about your business as a whole. My experience has been poor and didnt live up to the expectation. I have great reviews when the experience was worth it. I would review these too)

I had a problem and Doug went so above and beyond to help me fix something they don't even normally do. This place was wonderful. Please go here!

Everything is super expensive and has the worst customer service at all. Especially, the front cashier lady has disgusting attitude. I bought two toilet seats after showing them the picture of my existing product. The staff pointed out one for me and obviously it didn't work because he didn't even look at the pictures seriously. Then, they refused to get me the refund by stating no body in NYC will take the refund on toilet seats, which is a full lie. The front cashier lady even threw the box at me with the attitude. I asked her in good manner and that's what I got in return. Although they finally refunded one toilet seat after all, I still wasn't satisfied in customer service.

Has the worst customer service. I usually do not write review but I have to do so in order to protect the future customers.

Was looking for a key kiosk. I had search 10min on Google & Yelp for nearest key kiosk, rite aid with kiosk, home depot, and local key locksmiths. Found a place and follow directions to a place that no longer have key copy it closed during Covid. Someone pointed out the hardware store across the street- Lucky! Great service and good pricing. Is cheaper than Rite Aid Key Kiosk.

Everything is super expensive. Twice the price at home depot or lowe's. Also they will not return or give any store credit. My employee bought two wrong tools ( a level without a ruler and a T square instead of buying a level with a ruler which i had sent him to get ) and I went back to return or get store credit for them after the weekend ( within a couple of days ) and they bluntly refused to do anything about it. Rude customer service. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone because there are plenty of places in the city who value customer service more.

Rude, lazy, over priced and price gouging lately and racist. Can't find one single reason to go to this hardware store. Forgot how rude they are. Went back after ten years. Still the same. Heard them yell at another customer for absolutely nothing. I left. Do not support.

Placed an online order through Ace Hardware for this store. The package was never delivered, and calls to the store during business hours go unanswered. Hoping the owner can rectify this situation immediately.

I just read about the price gouging incident I really hope its not true but just looked up the letter from the office of the Attorney General to the owner Andrew Scheman. I dont think she would send hand delivered btw to him if its not true. On facebook He the owner wrote that he only was pricing according to what he was being priced for the product. Well, the proper thing to do was to alert the office of attorney Gen to the prices he was being given and not carry the item until it was all cleared up. But by offering then as the final stop of the overpriced product to the consumer you become part of the gouging. The owner should have said..im not offering my fellow new yorkers purell for 78 dollars. But he did so it made him dirt and part of the scam. Its like a bank robber who goes into the bank with help...they cant say when caught I didnt know he was robbing the bank he only asked me to carry bags. lol....wow dude issue a letter of apology and stick it on your front door big ....
