Whoever answered the phone this morning was totally useless, not very accommodating and downright rude. Hung up on me.Since there is noOption to respond to your reply, I’ll do so here by editing my review.I don’t know how or when you checked your records, but I certainly did call. I wasn’t a guest of the hotel, if that’s what you checked. Nevertheless I have no reason to lie. If that’s the implication.

The Evelyn is a wonderfully cosy hotel within walking distance or a 5-10 minute ride from all the best venues south of Central Park. The interior is decorated in art deco style, warm and dark shades of brown and red. The rooms are clean and comfortable but the wifi could be better. They have some wicked playlists covering new wave, 90s alternative music, 70s funk, but also more contemporary rock, shoegaze and pop music. The night bar is fab, with jazzy tunes, a trendy crowd shows and they serve a very solid Manhattan cocktail. All in all, I warmly recommend the place.

We really loved our stay at The Evelyn! All of the staff that we encountered were so helpful and top notch! Our room had everything that we needed, and the heated tile floor was such a nice touch during our chilly-weather visit! It was also very nice that we could open the windows in the bathroom so it didn't stay steamy after showers (my biggest pet peeve when some restrooms aren't ventilated!). The decor in the hotel is really inviting and stylish and we really enjoyed the wine hour in the lobby! We will definitely stay here again on our next visit!

What a lovely hotel just around the corner from the Empire State Building! There’s really nothing to fault here, from the beautiful lobby, friendly reception team, efficient maid service. Rooms are stylish and clean- and quiet! Such a great place to stay in New York city. It was my friend’s birthday and guest relations helped arrange a little surprise for her - which was so incredibly nice. Seems like everyone enjoys working at the hotel and it shows, as guests we loved staying there! Even accidentally made it to Monday night’s happy hour for some wine- fabulous! The recently opened Tusk bar is a wonderful addition to Evelyn Nomad - such a stylish bar with a fabulous cocktail menu. I would say the only thing missing from this hotel being a true luxury 5* experience is a proper sit-down, hot-meal breakfast- but I’ve heard they are planning to open a brasserie, as well as a restaurant- so Evelyn will only get better with time and I already can’t wait to come back!

This hotel is quite quirky & a bit hit & miss. Some lovely staff but then also some who literally glare at you with disdain. King suite was nice & comfortable but no coffee & tea making facilities available which we thought was odd. Bakery breakfast downstairs is great although we only got 2 tickets per day for a 3 person stay.Hot tip - don’t press the front desk button on the phone for service - you gotta just hit zero instead. I found this out on checkout by a surly front desk attendant & I thought phone was broken for the whole stay! (So why not just fix the phone or take the button out?)But we quite enjoyed the stay overall albeit at NYC prices..(ie. an extra $100 per night in taxes on top of the advertised rate..)

The suite was beautifully decorated and we were greeted with a lovely package of amenities. It felt so boutique and upscale—all the rich finishings made it a luxurious stay. The suite itself was spotless and pristine with plenty of space. The service and staff were impeccable; gracious, accommodating and prompt in response to needs.I would highly recommend the hotel’s to-go breakfast bakery which made you reasonably priced portable meals when you’re running off to start your day.Safety: I appreciated the card swipe entry to access the elevator—it made me feel significantly safer with this added layer of security.

Update: the treatment I received after leaving a *four star review* was unbelievable, as someone who worked in service for a decade. If you are open about the fact that there was even a slight issue with your stay, a liaison will reach out to ask how they can improve things. This is not a good faith question. Attempts to give feedback will be met with defensiveness & condescension. The below response greatly misrepresents the understanding I expressed several times in our email conversation. Responding to someone who suggested you could be transparent in a dishonest way really proves the point being made. My spouse and I will be taking our money elsewhere in the future.Original review below:Great stay with only minor issuesMy spouse and I stayed at the Evelyn for our honeymoon & really enjoyed it! We choose it because our first stop was the Museum of Sex, and it was great to stay next door. Many of those leaving lower reviews seem surprised by the size of the accommodations...in Manhattan. We went in expecting a small, old building, and stayed in a small, old building. The elevator was a fine size & the room had everything we needed it to. Those hoping for more floorspace could perhaps stay in another borough.Pros: Our room was upgraded day of! We loved spreading out on the king bed. The location can't be beat—minutes walk to K-Town, Madison Square Park, & multiple museums. The staff was super friendly & accommodating. The coffee was good, and they have oat milk!Cons:I do wish the fees associated were included in the quote for the reservation. We still would have stayed here for the full price, but would have appreciated the transparency. The included breakfast is more like a morning snack, especially for the allergy friendly options. My spouse has a milk allergy, and a miniature oatmeal cup or fruit cup do not a full breakfast make. I was willing to buy one so they could have both, though. The food tasted good & again the kitchen staff were lovely.Overall, I do suggest staying at the Evelyn, and will likely do so next time I'm in town. I just definitely suggest budgeting a little extra for your stay!Rooms: The room was comfortable, clean, and lovely! The hotel has a sleek aesthetic. I appreciated the various lighting options as I wake up about 4 hours before my spouse & was able to comfortably read by the angle-able, dimmable sconce while they slept until 9 like a reasonable person on vacation. The size is exactly what I'd expect for Manhattan, and bear in mind, thicker walls would mean even smaller rooms. Overall noise was not an issue for us.Food & drinks: The breakfast was tasty, but small. Plan to either spend a bit to get some sides, or make like a hobbit and have second breakfast. There are a couple vegan/allergy friendly options, including oat milk for the coffee.

Very clean and well located hotel, a stone's throw from the Empire State Building. The rooms are small or sufficient for two but there were four of us.It seems that the rooms are used for two or four without being larger in the latter case.As a result, 2 double beds are placed there but they are very small. The Americans are used to everything being large but, without having been able to measure them, they seemed closer to 1m20 in width than 1m40 and even less 1m60.Breakfast is a drink (no hot chocolate, that seems complicated, who knows why) like coffee or tea, not always orange juice available (too bad the children should drink tea or coffee), and a pastry or sandwich like bacon and eggs...What is served is quite good (they make espresso) but very very poor. There is a French bakery 10 m away or Starbucks to finish breakfast, which is what the children asked for every day.The hotel is good but small and not family friendly for a penny.Last point there are 2 breakfast vouchers per day and per room.If there are 4 of you 2 breakfasts are included not 4 per day it seems incredible but as we were told it is the hotel policy; we had never seen this.In short, come at 2, especially not at 4, I suppose that at 2 the bed is a normal size.Too bad because we feel that the hotel is maintained and well maintained in all respects but...

We stayed at the Evelyn the week before Christmas and the experience was nothing short of wonderful. The hotel is perfectly located, especially when it's your first visit to the city and you're planning on exploring the major landmarks. The hotel itself is stunning. The mid-century modern decor is beautiful and the hotel is kept very clean. The staff were all friendly and professional; Amal in particular went above and beyond to make our visit special. We were lucky enough to be there for the restaurant's/bar's opening night, and to no surprise that was also an amazing experience. The food and drink exceeded our expectations, and we enjoyed our evening socializing with the bartenders. The rooms were a good size, especially in Manhattan, and the bed was comfortable. Finally, the breakfast was another pleasant part of our visit . We were offered a variety of options, complimentary with our stay, all of which were a delicious way to start our day. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting New York City, and I hope that I can come back again soon, to have another amazing experience!
