Attended a TERRIBLE workshop there—overpriced and condescending facilitator.

I ventured into The Sill with the intention of finding the perfect plant for my friend even though I had absolutely no knowledge about plants lol. Thankfully, Sam came and saved day for me and put me at ease. She asked about my friend's plants setup so I had showed her a photo and Sam guided me through the options, offering valuable suggestions and a ton of good info! I settled on a medium-sized plant and added a smaller one because it was so cute! Sam went above and beyond and even placed a hand warmer at the bottom of the plants to ensure both plants stayed cozy since it was so chilly out. My friend absolutely loved her plants! Just want to send a heartfelt shoutout to Sam for her assistance in making this gift a success! :)

I placed an order 10 days ago and have not received my plant nor any indication of when it will ship. To make matters worse they make a song and dance of their amazing "Customer Happiness team" that is available via live chat, but no such chat option even exists, nor is there a telephone number to reach anyone in the company. None of the store locations will assist with online orders, and they are rude and unhelpful. Bummer :-(

In April of 2020, the height of the pandemic, I went to The Sill NYC and chose 3 plants so as to have a bit of outdoors inside while we were staying home. Every single plant is not only still alive but they are incredibly healthy, luxuriant and beautiful to look at. As I am not a "plant person" I must give full credit to The Sill for hardy plants and great advice!

I was excited at the idea of having a real plant shop, not a florist and plants. I called and spoke with Hillary. She was so nice and friendly and upbeat that I could not wait to go there. It was during the holiday season and she told me when they were expecting a new delivery. I thought I should wait but I couldn't! So disappointed when I arrived. Hillary was not there. Martha was there. She was not happy I arrived at noon. That is when they open! She was putting out a sign and a plant and told me to go inside and look around. There were a lot of plants, not a tremendous variety. Half of them seemed to be dying of thirst. Martha said they have too many plants and can't care for all of them all the time . They do a few one week and a few the next week. Of course if the one that you want is not the week that it's being tended to it could be severely underwatered or as was the case some of them ,didn't look as tho they would make it! She wasn't particularly friendly or pleasant but I did buy one plant. I needed four! It is about 2 1/2 weeks or three weeks and I am still trying to revive the one I bought. I wouldn't be going back.

I hate writing negative reviews because I try to give people the benefit of the doubt and generally think most people are doing the best they can these days but I am super disappointed with the quality and customer service of this company for an online order. I ordered four plants — three succulents and a Hoya heart. The Hoya heart arrived in perfect condition with no issues but the other three were in poor condition (two very badly and one right on the cusp and maybe could be fixed with a little TLC). One was completely rotted and the other was so big and overgrown it wouldn’t stand up straight so I had to throw them out. I sent photos back to The Sill and immediately got a response that they would send two others (I only asked to replace 2/3 as I thought I might be able to fix the 3rd with some TLC) to replace them and to keep an eye out for the tracking info. I never heard back. About two weeks later I emailed to ask and they finally sent two others, which, again, were in poor condition with the exact same issues as the first two (rotting and plant that cannot stay upright). It was disappointing not only to not have them make it a priority to correct the damaged plants that I grossly overpaid for ($98 for three small succulents with planters), but even more so to get two more plants in damaged condition. I didn’t bother emailing again to ask them to correct this — at this point I’ll eat the cost with some lessons learned. There’s clearly no QC process here before they ship out or they are OK with selling poor quality plants to customers for outrageous prices. I’ve ordered from several plant places online and never had any issue so was surprised to experience this with a company that looked like it had such great reviews. I hope they use the feedback to do better for the next customer. To note: Prior to this review, I did provide this feedback to the company via email survey and have not heard anything back so I think this speaks to their commitment to customer satisfaction.

Melissa and Ashley are, and I mean this, some of the kindest and most genuine people that I have met in customer service. When I asked them if I could propose to my partner in the store, I was met with nothing but excitement, encouragement, and pride. On top of this, the store is just wonderful with quality plants, a great layout, and a passion for what they do! This is our forever plant store! We could not ask for more!

I've bought several plants from the UWS location of The Sill. I highly recommend them. The plants are healthy and have been thriving in my apartment. They used to have a better selection of planters when they first opened; now the selection is more scarce and less original, but I still love the store and the experience.

BEWARE IF YOU ORDER ONLINE AND LIVE IN NYC - THE PLANTS COME FROM NJ OR ALABAMA - AND THEY DON'T TELL YOU THAT - AND IT COMES DAYS AND DAYS LATER FROM ALABAMA IN LOUSY CONDITON AND THEN THEY REFUSE TO REPLACE. THEY DO NOT HONOR WHAT THEY WRITE ON THEIR WEBSITE. THIS PLANT IS LESS THAN A WEEK OLD AND DYING EVERY DAY.UPDATE - AFTER MULTIPLE Emails AND COMPLAINING TO BBB - GOT A NEW PLANT - AND THIS ONE IS VERY Nice - BUT IT TOOK PLAYING HARDBALL.

NEVER ORDER PLANTS FROM THE SILL. I was so disappointed - they sent me a half-dead plant. ordered Alocasia California from the Sill and it came in a very poor condition. The stems were folded and the leaves were ripped, dirt was all over the box and the plant. I had to clean up my whole apartment floor because of this. I literally feel like I bought a left-over plant or damaged plant(that could not go to the stores for display). You can buy a better one in Amazon and Walmart. Even a supermarket near your place will sell better plants than sill.
