For some reason they removed the blue box out in front of the post office.. unless someone came and stole it?I’ve used it every month until yesterday morning it was gone.I hope they replace it.(Update** they still haven’t replaced the blue box outside. You have to go in during regular business hours)

Try a different post office. For one thing, they removed the exterior mailbox because people were stealing, so if you want to drop off a letter, it has to be during post office hours. But doing anything through this post office is like pulling teeth. I mailed 3 packages on 3 separate occasions with the exact same 2" wide brown packing tape, and then when I attempted to mail the 4th package, I was told it "was not regulation tape" (it was 2" brown packing tape) and forced to buy tape there. Also, I am recently married and have not legally changed my last name, but the last 2 times I've attempted to pickup my mail--with my ID (that has the same address), my husband's ID (also same address), and a copy of our marriage license (also same address), I've been treated like a criminal and told this is the "LAST TIME" they would give me my mail. Mind you, only one was certified mail; the other was a box of girl scout cookies. Every time I'm in here Baffa has an attitude, and I've heard the other women who work here speak extremely disrespectfully towards anyone who does not speak perfect English. Just FedEx or UPS your packages.

Pretty sure this is the office from which my packages get delivered and I’ve had my packages marked as “delivered” (put in mailbox/handed to resident) by the mailman even though they weren’t and clearly got stolen. I never have this issue with any other delivery service. It’s terrible and careless.

The staff here are always very attentive and nice. I came on a Monday morning at 11 AM when there were only 4 people in the store. There was only one cashier/attendant.

I’ll admit service can be slow but I haven’t had a bad interaction with the employees. I ship a lot of packages with prepaid labels that have a QR code, so I have to always wait in line so they can print it for me but they are pretty patient with me. One woman is always helpful but can’t remember her name.

I got some bad news for all of you newcomers complaining about the lousy service at the West 116th Street Post Office. Nothing has changed in 50 years since I started using it. Occasionally get a really sweet clerk but they are few and far between. The good people don't stick around very long though there is one lady who remains as helpful and sweet as ever who usually sits at Window 1. In the first few years, I used to make scenes, shout out my disappoint at how slow things were, ask aloud why only one open window with 20 people waiting on line. I used to call ahead to see how busy they were. Then came the Internet and gradually going to the post office was not always necessary. Of course having an assistant has helped to!Good luck!(2 Stars for the nice lady at Window 1!)

I have a business which requires me to ship out packages frequently & this is my local post office which is terrible. First off, it’s extremely EXTREMELY understaffed & the staff that does work is the most uncaring, hostile, & unhelpful lot I’ve ever encountered. They are consistently getting in fights with customers who are understandably fed up due to the insane wait times (one window for 20 people at times) & then they are surprised. Fortunately, I have never confronted the postal staff here nor gotten into an argument but jeez are they rude & even worst, don’t give two cents about your business/ what your trying to achieve (postal-wise). They also take any & every opportunity to leave their window & socialize with incoming workers and acquaintances thus ignoring their obligation to the line & thus the customer void. Lastly, if you ask the clerk a mere question i.e “is there a less expensive option?” they reply with a sigh of disgust & subsequent eye roll, as if your asking the world of them. It a terrible place & so try to avoid at all costs. I’m local so it’s a necessary evil that I must brave, but not one I look forward too. There’s plenty this lot can do to improve.

The people who work here are complete idiots. Most of the times I come here, they forget to open the package drop off slot and everybody needs to wait in line to drop packages. It's a waste of everyones' time including theirs.

Unprofessional and rude: the post office at 232 West 116th Street gives Harlem a bad name. Workers routinely close the doors before the time posted (today, Friday, October 14, 2022 for example), and become hostile if politely told that they have closed early. Can you imagine working remote on a legal case [which must be postmarked by a certain date] and having a local post office CLOSE whenever they feel? I have been left scrambling and forced to unexpectedly head down to the courthouse at times to have legal papers stamped at the courthouse because of the poor service by this post office. Bad post offices shouldn't happen to good people. Today, there were no less than four people waiting outside the post office, confused by the doors were locked before 5:30pm. When customers inside opened the locked doors to leave, a female worker from behind a counter began to scream: "we're closed!" I sincerely hope these workers do not begin to tamper with the mail as regulars (like myself) speak out about the way we are treated and how this post office operates (we have to expect retaliation from unprofessional workers as this is the character they've revealed to us).
