Very clean and lots of cooked food option to pick from at an affordable price, well to nyc standard. Staffs are very helpful and you can always find someone on the floor to ask questions or help you find what you need!

Great selection of fish/seafood and cheese from Europe!! Overall produce quality is outstanding! Spend more time in the store and you will find good prices just don't rush look through all. Once you learn the product flow it will be easier to just come grab and go. You can't go wrong with the selection of food as all food is simply outstanding!

4.5 stars--going off first impressions this place knocked my socks off in terms of variety and creativity. Creativity is a term not generally used in the conjunction with supermarkets so to explain--I found it unique that they showcased certain foods and ingredients in non-traditional American supermarket arrangements including a) such an elaborate selection of cheeses, olives and charcuterie, b) a Japanese style fish market sakanaya area, replete with huge full-sized tuna that they were going to clean and fillet same day live as a demonstration (I came on a Saturday), c) the uber extensive fresh prepared foods section, with basically every type of ready-to-go meal you can think of, with clear signage indicating what's where, including fresh baked goods that rival some more boutique local bakeries, d) I'm pretty sure I've never seen a cleaner, perfect looking fresh meat display case--and what normal grocery store carries cuts of aged beef? None that I've seen in the US. Originating from upstate New York, Wegman's has a reputation to maintain as being a premier grocer with a super loyal customer base. They're basically an institution in those parts! I've constantly heard friends mentioning how they miss Wegman's, or that too bad there's no Wegman's 'cause it's the best, etc. Now I understand the hype. Whole Foods better watch out! Price-wise it trends towards less expensive than Whole Foods for produce and staples, but certainly more expensive than your average suburban supermarket. The prepared foods section is probably closer in price, maybe slightly lower than your average take out restaurant or "bowl" meal spot. I will say from initial glance they don't necessarily have the depth of niche products in certain categories like dairy that WF carries, but they do carry more national chain brand products than WF. As many others reviews have mentioned the space itself is huge and separated into two floors, with the bakery and prepared foods being on the first floor and rest in the basement.

Pros: Great food on the first floor, especially love the Kobe sandwich and the variety of sushi!Con: And this bumps my review down to 1 star until this gets enforced. I counted more than half a dozen dogs casually being pulled around by their owners, and they definitely do NOT look like service dogs! Do better by enforcing these entitled pet owners to leave their dogs home or tie outside when they shop!

Wonderful selection of food from literally every nation. Wide variety of prices so things are affordable or off the top expensive. Plan to take your time to explore. It really is a treat.

Good grocery store (strong meats, cheeses, beer selections with more variety of goods than most in the area), but the lack of corn muffins is concerning. Other Wegman's locations have far superior muffin options including some of the better grocery store corn muffins, but the Astor Place location doesn't seem to carry them.

There are many products but I feel the prices are expensive, just like the hot food and on top of that they sell hot food and there is no dining room to eat it.

Welcome Wegmans to Astor Place. 87,000 sq. ft. of supermarket. A total food shopping experience! Best tip: Join Wegmans Shoppers Club for digital coupons. The first floor has a variety of prepared foods and the bakery.Food stations: pizza, sushi, dumplings, sandwiches, etc.Avoid the self serve hot food bar where the food sits too long. No dine-in eating.Heat n eat entrees and sides are well prepared but pricey. Best deal is the whole rotisserie chicken $9.99.Cakes, pies, and cookie bar will entice but are pricey. Best deal: donuts $1.29 each.Lower level is the grocery store. Some produce is prepackaged - not always fresh. There is an organic section where produce is loose. Interestingly, there is an Asian vegetable section. Use scale to weigh, price and preprint label-saves time at the register.Meat is vaccum sealed- not my preference. There is a small "butcher" counter with expensive aged cuts - cut to order. My Go To is the Rosemary cook in bag whole chicken. Peel off the labels, put entire bag in the oven - chicken is well seasoned, juicy with crispy skin.Fresh seafood is flown in 2x a week from Japan's Toyosu market. Interesting and pricey. Domestic seafood is in the back of the store.Standard deli offerings. The cheese counter will let you try as many varieties as you wish.Wegmans carries Wegmans and national brands. Wegmans brands offer good value but do not always measure up to the national brands in taste.Checkout can be chaotic with self and register checkout lines merging into one wait area. Wegmans needs to improve and organize checkout like Whole Foods. The store has settled down for neighbor shoppers and is less tourist attraction. Wegmans is a welcome and wonderful addition to the neighborhood.

Very crowded and chaotic, they need to label the lines better. One seems to be for self-service and one is for a human cashier but you don't know that till you get to the front of the line. Many things are priced really well, but strangely, some Wegmans brand basics like oatmeal are priced higher than name brand stuff. And I wish they'd get some smaller baskets. If i just need to run in for 3 things, I don't want to drag or carry their mega basket around and I don't want to push a cart. The way it is now, everyone's carts and baskets are bumping into each other. It's crazy. People moving at all directions. It's got the traffic pattern of time square sidewalks.
