What used to be a great service is now consistently terrible. The cars are never serviced and often there are dangerous issues. In the last year that I used zipcars, every single car was filthy and most had trash/food/used tissues. I gave up after my last rental where the 4WD stopped working 2 snowy hours drive from home, the check engine light came on, and the horn didn't work (dangerous in NYC traffic). I called and emailed zipcar several times to make sure they fixed that car. When I asked for a credit on the $600 rental, they offered me $8.79. Zip car is a joke. Rent with Kyte instead.

Something on their end made it so our of the blue, after 8 years of being a member, none of my payment methods were accepted. This caused me to be unable to rent a car to see my family for Christmas. I was told twice that I would get a call back from a supervisor and never did. Weeks later I received an e-mail telling me they were going to send my balance to collections if it wasn't paid. I called again and was told I would get an e-mail from their team, which never happened. Again, I called and was given absolutely no help from the person on the other line. She gave me attitude for being frustrated and I ended up just canceling my account. Hands down the worst customer service I have ever received.

They fkd up my booking two years in a row. On Christmas Day! The first year, they refunded it. The second year, they refused to do anything about it. So I canceled my membership and I'm suing them in the Small Claims Court.

COMPANY STOLE MY MONEY! My bank did a transaction reversal "due to sus activity" and I figured it out with zipcar! I called the bank and they fixed it. for some reason, zipcar thinks I owe them money for this!!!!!!!!!! they told me to reapply and then said I owed them money for the bank block! I was NOT informed of this bill and they refused to call it a bill lmao burn this companys legal forms.

Worst customer service The app is equally bad if not more Got charged because I couldn't change my license info in their app and the customer service rep said that I use a different email to change my info (and get charged again for the application fee!) Not going to do that - good bye!

Zipcar has the worst costumer service, if you do manage to get a hold of anyone, you'll be lucky if you can understand them, not just accents, I can understand different accents perfectly fine, but loud background noises, poor microphones, and poor communication skills seem to abound. If you don't need help then Zipcar is great, but between parking spaces not being available (which for a city it's not like there's another one around the corner), instructions being limited or just unavailable, the chat feature is essentially Google and unhelpful. It is not cheap so it at least should be convenient and it is not.

They banned my account because my Drivers License expired. I tried calling them to renew with my recently renewed ID but all they could tell me was my account was removed and to try to use a different email. Seems a little excessive to me. Anyway, customer service is outsourced and unhelpful. Moving on to a different, similar company. Maybe Turo.

Quick update: I've since left Zipcar and switched over to Turo. If you're 26+ and live in an urban area, I'd definitely recommend Turo over Zipcar any day! Cheaper, more convenient, and so much less trouble.

Car had 1/10 a tank of gas and the zip car gas card was declined. Not a promising start.

Their cars are cheaper to rent than most traditional services. However, it is not worth it. The price you pay in time wasted with cars that you booked that are subsequently unavailable and then dealing with customer service agents who are unable to help resolve the situation in any way far outweighs the benefit of their lower costs. The only reason I was a member for so long is because every time they would screw me over the only thing I was offered was service credits. Then trying to use those service credits, I would get screwed over again, and the cycle repeated. Never again.

Do not use zipcar! They have horrible customer service, managers are not available immediately, they contact you via email in a week! They charged me $77 late fee for a car that their processing system wouldn't let me extend due to their own malfunctions. Then charged me a week later for that extension that I never got because of that glitch. They will do anything to keep your money, but will not accommodate you as a customer. I cancelled my membership and told them keep the money they took! DONT DO IT! NO ZIP CAR, just get a regular rental or use TORO.

Shady business practices! Reservations are changed last min, without respect for customer. When you attempt to talk to customer service to rectify they tell you one thing and then do another- offering credit that never shows up. Cars are hit or miss, some dirty some not. Some with full tanks, some not. I tried them so x tubes, there won't be a 7th.

My application was rejected because of my application fee being rejected by my bank. Chase suspected fraud and text me. I responded saying it was me and chase unfroze my card. I called zipcar and told them to run the card again and what happened. They asked me to send a screenshot which I did. Their response is below. So because of something that wasn't my fault they reject my application. Something that I don't see as an issue because my bank suspected fraud cleared it up and they could've just re processed the card. At this point even if they told me I can be a client of theirs I want nothing to do with them. Especially after seeing their reviews on yelp now I am not surprised of their ratings. I'm glad they're business is doing so well that they can refuse good customers. Also for the cost of the daily use I can just rent a car for 24 hours and pay half of what they were charging. Good bye Zipcar never care to see your name on my phone again.

Car is often not there, so you're screwed. They won't do anything to help you. There's not much more to say about this as there was no car to rent
