“I'm very picky with where I take my dog, because I know some places like to overcharge or are unprofessional but Dr Gower was amazing! My dog has been having pains and I called the animal clinic for the first time and the owner was very friendly and a good listener, he asks questions, and did a very thorough and detailed examination on my dog and takes a lot of notes aswell. He was nice enough to give me a discount, and the medicine he prescribed my dog has been helping! He even called the next day for a checkup to see how she was doing. I felt comfortable with my dog is his hands. The clinic itself is very small and crammed, and he is the only person working at this place but he did an amazing job. I will definitely go back in the future if I need to get any more checkups on my dog!”

“Last Friday I brought my almost 2-year-old orange short-haired cat, Taffy, to Mid Island Animal Hospital just for a nail trim. The team took him right away and brought him back out to me. However, as I went to secure his carrier in the car and walked to the driver's side, my car locked me out—trapping my phone, bag, and key fob inside. It was the most terrifying moment of my life.

The immediate rescue efforts from the staff were nothing short of heroic. Almost the entire team came outside to help. They placed blankets and towels all over the car to block the sun and keep Taffy cool. One of the staff members immediately called the fire department to see how fast they could arrive, and even generously offered to personally drive me to my house and back to get a spare key if my family couldn't get there fast enough. Because I live 20 minutes away, we realized a round trip would take too long for Taffy to wait.

When they asked if I had AAA, and learned my phone was locked inside, the amazing front desk receptionists immediately looked up the toll-free number on their own phones. They called and passionately advocated for Taffy, firmly explaining to AAA that a pet's life was in danger so they would prioritize the call over their initial 1-hour wait time. Another staff member even ran down to a nearby mechanic to see if they could help, and assured me they had a glass-shattering tool we could carefully use as a last resort if help didn't arrive fast enough.

The compassion didn't stop once the car was opened. The staff surrounded us with support. Once AAA unlocked the door, Dr. Wieman and the veterinary team immediately took Taffy into the back to give him a full physical evaluation to ensure he was perfectly okay to go home—completely free of charge.

To top it all off, Dr. Wieman personally called me later that evening right before closing, just to check on how Taffy was feeling. When I told her he was doing great, she was so genuinely relieved and even let me know she would be there Saturday morning if I noticed any changes and needed to bring him back in.

This traumatic experience proved that Mid Island Animal Hospital doesn't just do a job; they operate with pure love, selflessness, and unmatched empathy as a whole team. They are our heroes, and they have earned my loyalty forever!”

I cannot recommend Dr. Penyy at The Cat Doctor highly enough! My 16-year-old Chinchilla Persian, Apple, recently had surgery, and the care we received was absolutely world-class.

What truly sets Dr. Penyy apart is her incredible heart and selflessness. I’ve seen her kneeling on the floor for a long time just to carefully remove Apple’s sutures one by one, showing zero ego. She once even accidentally bumped her head because she was focusing so intensely on examining him, yet her only concern was making sure we weren’t worried! She genuinely puts the well-being of the cats above everything else.

Despite her busy schedule, she is always responsive—answering questions late at night or on weekends with professional guidance. She remembers every detail of Apple’s health stats, which gives me so much peace of mind.

As an artist, Apple is my muse, and I picked up watercolor specifically to capture the beauty of cats. I was so moved by Dr. Penyy’s dedication that I painted a miniature watercolor of her caring for Apple. When I gave it to her, she was so surprised and called it 'so artistic'—her reaction meant the world to me.

“We find it quite challenging to adequately describe how grateful we are that Dr. Kleminger and staff, in particular Vet Tech Sydney took care of our geriatric cat Cassius. Cassius was two months old when he first saw Dr. Kleminger and he lived to the ripe old age of 19 largely in part to the exceptional care, guidance and love we received at Companions. Cassius was a strong, fighter who endured, multiple medical emergencies where we thought he might die. All through these crisis Dr. Kleminger and Sydney were there for us. We had to administer fluids and medications at home which Sydney came to our house to teach us every week for months until we learned to do it ourselves. Cassius hated the carrier, and going to the vet, however, he immediately calmed down when Dr. Kleminger would pet him and talk to him. He would fall right asleep when Sydney would hold him on his back like a baby. It was absolutely magical. We love all of the staff at Companions. The front desk staff are loving and compassionate. “The doctors and nurses here were absolutely wonderful and took such great care of my Thea. They were incredibly patient and gentle with her. My puppy got so nervous that she had an accident, but the male nurse didn’t blame her at all. Instead, he comforted her and helped her feel less anxious. When it was time for her shot, they gave her some delicious canned food, which kept her happy and distracted. She finished her vaccination without any pain or stress at all. “We have been going to South Bellmore Vet for 9 years. We rescued 2 sisters so starting going there with our 2 rambunctious puppies. They are always there when you need them. Our girls were spayed there, every yearly exam is there. Also, if one has an ear infection or brakes a dew claw... they always get us in. As far as pricing....vet care isn't cheap but honestly their prices are reasonable. I am very happy with the care my girls get there. If your looking for a vet I definitely recommend this practice.
